Q:Can I just buy the control box

Answer This Question

A:  We do not sell just the control box to replace very old units. You'll have the spare electrode and new ion test kit with it as well.

Q:Do I remove (or keep empty) the chlorine tablet tube after the filter or keep it to maintain a low level and would it be before or after the ionizer?

    Answer This Question

A:  You can either keep it full and set at the lowest or shock on a regular basis. It should be installed after the ionizer if you will be using it to maintain a small residual.

Q:Will shocking with chlorine or maintaining chlorine oxidize the copper electrode and cause staining? Seems I keep reading that yet the information suggests shocking may be necessary at times.

      Answer This Question

A:  Shocking an ionized pool does not in itself cause staining, but how you shock is important. Adding granular directly to the pool can cause spots where the pH spikes on the pool's finish, but if you dilute before pouring it in is will not have the same issue. Modern pool finishes are much less susceptible to staining in general, but accurately tested pH is an important part of that and not using strips. Copper ions will remain in solution with proper pH balance. Feel free to call our technical department at 1-800-756-SWIM (7946) with any questions as well!

Q:I have a salt system, would this work with the salt system? Would you install before or after the salt system if leaving it in?

        Answer This Question

A:  If leaving the salt chlorination in and on, it should be after the ionizer electrode. Our technical team is happy to answer any other questions you have at 800-756-7946.

          Answer This Question

A:  Yes, it does work for above ground pools. Installation is not included. While some homeowners install them themselves with the included instructions, some have an outside company install them. Please feel free to call or technical help department at 1-800-756-7946.

Q:We have a small pool in comparison to the capacity of this unit. (8000 gallons) Will it be overkill for our pool?

            Answer This Question

A:  No. However, with the RC-50 having 120 output settings it would be the easier choice as it will easily support 1,000 to 50,000 gallons. Please feel free to call our technical team at 800-756-7946 with any questions.

A:  It might be a little over kill but it’s worth it…I’ve had crystal clear water since I’ve hook this up my pool is 25,000 gallons and during the swimming months I shock once a week and use 1 3 inch chlorine tablet in the skimmer basket and that’s it… the water stays crystal clear this unit is well worth the price and I wouldn’t think it would be overkill if your looking for crystal clear water in your pool !!!

Q:I have an inline ORP sensor for monitoring my pool sanitization. How would this affect my ORP readings?
                by|Apr 21, 2023
                1 Answer
                Answer This Question

A:  The ionizer would not have a direct change to the ORP. If you manually dose the same amount of chlorine, the ORP would rise due to excessive chlorine usage.Or, if your ORP effects an auto dose or salt cell, the output would be lowered to maintain the ORP setting. A:  Average life is 3-5 years. There are a few factors that change how long they last (length of pool season, hours of sun per day, water temp, etc.). To get a better idea, call us at 800-756-7946 to talk more!
