Q:will it raise enough to raise a 2013 4 cyl. Kia Sorento ?
by|Dec 7, 2020

Answer This Question

A:  According to information that I find on the internet the ground clearance of the Sorento is 7.5 inches. The following information is from the QuickJack manual: The QuickJack can lift a vehicle from a minimum of 3" (i.e. plenty of room to get QuickJack under the sides of your Sorento at 7.5") up to around 18.4" to 19.2" depending on which lift blocks you use. The QuickJack comes with two sets of hard rubber lift blocks, a 'short' and a 'tall' set. Using the short set you can lift to the 18.4" number above, using the tall set you can lift to the 19.2" number. You can also stack the sets of blocks and raise to 21.3". If you need to raise your Sorento even higher there is an accessory you can purchase (around $233) called the 'SUV Truck Adapter Kit' that can add up to 6" in height (to the base height) for a total lift of about 23.6".

by|Dec 13, 2020

A:  It should. A two inch block puts the stand at three and a half inches. If you add the 4" block on top of the 2" block the starting height is 7 1/2". If that isn't a tall enough starting point you'll need to purchase more blocks or the extended adapter made for pick-up trucks.

by|Dec 26, 2020

A:  Yes. I USE IT TO LIFT a 4700 pound pickup without any problems.

    by|Dec 7, 2020

A:  The listed curb weight is just under 4000lbs. https://www.kiamedia.com/us/en/models/sorento/2013/specifications Yes. The 5000 lb quickjack can lift the 4000 lb car.

    by|Dec 8, 2020

A:  I use mine on a 2016 Mazda CX-5 so I would say yes. They do sell truck adapters but I don't have them.

Q:If the jack is designed to use the vehicles specified lift points, how do you account for the following statement taken verbatim from the owners manual? "Do not work under an elevated Vehicle unless properly rated Vehicle Jack Stands in place at the factory-recommended Lifting Points."

        Answer This Question

A:  You obviously can't have two sets of supports in the same posisions. The previous paragraph states you can safely work on your vehicle once it's secured with the quick jacks locked in posision. This statement is just a secondary warning not to work under a unsecured vehicle. You see this warning all the time.

        by|Nov 26, 2020

        A:  works as stated

        by|Nov 26, 2020

A:  The attached picture is too tiny to see, but from what I can make out it looks like maybe it is around page 40 or 41 of the current manual on QuickJack's web site (Rev. L1 dated Dec 2020) which does NOT have that statement, has: "WARNING Before doing anything else (like starting work on the Vehicle or leaving the area), visually confirm that both QuickJack Frames are on the same locking positions and that all Lift Blocks are in contact with the factory-recommended Lifting Points of the Vehicle." and: "WARNING As an added safety precaution, you must always use auxiliary safety stands under the Vehicle while elevated on both QuickJack Frames." So, I then went to MY printed manual that came with MY QuickJack (Rev. J1 Dec 2018), and sure enough on page 40 the second WARNING above was: "WARNING Do not work under an elevated Vehicle unless properly rated Vehicle Jack stands in place at the factory-recommended Lifting Points." So, you are correct that earlier version(s) of the manual had that contradicting statement, which they have corrected in (at least) the latest (L1) manua.

          by|Dec 13, 2020

A:  If I remember correctly, (been a few weeks since I set mine up) "properly rated vehicle Jack stands in place at the factory recommended lifting points" refers to the weight of vehicle vs max lifting weight of jack stand coupled with factory lifting points of the vehicle you wish to lift.

Q:I have a large crack in my garage floor which causes about a 3/8" difference in height. Is this an issue? Or do I put large plywood sheet under each lift to allow some settling?

            Answer This Question

A:  Personally I don't think 3/8" is a big deal with these. My garage floor has a joint that runs perpendicular to the jacks and slopes slightly. I wondered about this but it wasn't an issue for me. Their co line will probably be "the floor needs to be LEVEL". I didn't notice any issue with mine and I'm comfortable underneath them. You do you though

            by|Dec 26, 2021

A:  If the crack runs parallel to the jack base and isn't beneath either jack base, I wouldn't worry about it, 3/8 inch side to side won't harm a thing. If the crack runs perpendicular to and under a jack base, I would "shim" the portion of the jack base that is lower than the other. The size of the plywood piece wouldn't need to be any larger than the portion of the jack base that is on the "low" side of the crack in my opinion.

Q:Do you need to purchase an air compressor?
              by|Oct 18, 2020

              Answer This Question

A:  There is one step in the assembly process where you have to fill a small cylinder on each side with 50 PSI of air. I did it with my air compressor but it actually would have been easier with a bicycle style air pump as getting it to 50 PSI and not way over with a compressor was difficult as the cylinder is quite small. So just a tire pump and tire gauge that can go to 50 PSI are all you need.

              by|Dec 13, 2020

A:  The jack is hydraulic. You will need an air pump to add air to the compressed air cylinders but that is a one-time event. You will need to purchase hydraulic oil to fill the reservoir as unit does not come with it. Check owner's manual or their website for specifications. Beyond that, all you need is a 110 volt outlet. Happy lifting!

              by|Oct 18, 2020

A:  The jack comes complete with hydaulic pump and hoses. Just plug into 120V outlet. Depending on your car, you may need pinch blocks if your car has pinch weld seams.

              by|Oct 18, 2020

A:  110V standard power outlet is required to operate the pump. The cylinders to return the unit to the "parked" position need to be pumped up to 40 psi which you could do with a bicycle air pump if you do not have an air compressor. Automatic transmission fluid is required to initially fill the hydraulic pump. I hope this answers your question.

              by|Oct 19, 2020

A:  Yes. You have to charge the air cylinders (which lets the jack down slowly instead of all-at-once). You'll also need either hydraulic fluid or ATF. The instructions specify which fluids are compatible.

A:  I am sure you can and you DESERVE IT! Thanks for your service. You probably don't hear it often enough. I never served and regret not standing up when I was younger and doing my part for the greatest country in the world. As for the product. BUY IT! I can't believe I used jacks and stands in the past. It is expensive but cheaper than death or serious injury and it's incredibly convenient.

              by|Sep 3, 2020

A:  I have found that the Military/Veteran discount can only be applied at the store! Home Depot currently does not have the ability to associate your online account with your DD-214, or VETERAN designated DD-214 verified State issued drivers license. Other Home Improvement stores 'will' apply it to your account once you show it to the customer service desk thereby allowing the discount to be applied to EVERY online order. You 'might' be able to order and ship to store then ask for discount when you pick it up but it'll probably be better to order it in person at the customer service desk for the discount to be applied at the point of sale. I have gone elsewhere when my online purchase is large enough because of this issue.

A:  A similar question was asked on the QuickJack web site: QUESTION: Is it OK to use only one frame to lift? ANSWER: No. QuickJack is designed to lift an entire vehicle by engaging the OEM recommended lifting points. Any attempt to alter this configuration could be dangerous and will void your warranty.

                      by|Mar 12, 2023

A:  I suppose you could, but I would not do it. The jacks go straight up and down and if you were lifting just 1/2 of the car the support to the car would be at an angle, ever increasing as you went up. Bad idea IMO.

Q:Each car has identified locations along the bottom of the car on each side where the jack must lift the car. What is the range of the dimension on each jack between where the rubber blocks can engage these lift points?

                      Answer This Question

A:  According to the manual: The area where you place the rubber lift block is from 29.5 inches apart minimum to 60 inches apart maximum. Those are the dimensions I see lots of people giving out as the range but... The rubber lift blocks themselves are 3 inches by 4 inches so if you put the block at the minimum points (in the 'skinny' direction) the MIDDLE of the blocks will be 32.5 inches apart (the 29.5 plus 1.5 on each end). Likewise if you put the block out at the maximum points the MIDDLE of the block will be 57 inches apart (60 minus 1.5 on each end). Now, on MY BL-5000SLX the 60 inch dimension above is about correct but the minimum dimension (on my unit anyway) only measures 31.5, NOT 29.5! So, in my opinion, the 'usable' range is 32.5 (or 34.5 for my unit!) to 57 inches when using the 3" x 4" blocks.

A:  The center line of the blocks can be 56" to 44" apart. see picture.

                        by|Jun 19, 2020

A:  Not sure exactly which Race Ramp(RR) product you want to use - if you are talking about the RR wheel cribs, then yes you could raise your vehicle with the QuickJack(QJ) and set it down (all 4 wheels) on a set of wheel cribs. This would be useful especially if you then wanted to raise the vehicle higher by doing something like inserting a set of SUV & Light Truck adapters between the QJ and vehicle and raise again. If you are talking about RR drive-on Ramps then why? You would not need a drive on ramp with this QJ as the QJ is lifting the vehicle...
