A:  Thadius7, you will need to direct your question directly to Ridgid at their site. This is a tool that Ridgid contracted with an outside manufacturer (Chevron) to produce. The issues with this saw are at that stage, and not with the Home Depot stores. This was the best miter saw that I've ever owned, but I've been trying for the last 2 years to buy another one and I've run into dead ends. Demand for the saw is so great that used models on Craigslist are bringing close to the original retail price in some markets. Check with Ridgid about the future of the saw. They usually get back to you within a couple of days.

Q:What's are all of the differences betweem a Ryobi 15 Amp 10" Dual Bevel Miter Saw and the Ryobi 1...

Answer This Question

A:  Assuming you're referring to this model Ryobi saw - TSS102L which I don't own, but I do own the Ridgid saw. My father-in-law also owns the older blue Ryobi 10" saw and I used it a good amount so I can somewhat compare them. All dual bevel miter saws in theory can do the same things, some are more accurate and perform tasks better. I can say this his older Ryobi wasn't super accurate with the common detentes especially at 45 degrees. Also he broke off the knob to lock down the miter angle once and while he got it replaced the Ridgid's press-down lock is more secure and sturdy. His older Ryobi had a wildly inaccurate laser line that was manually adjustable. The Ridgid has a line on both sides of the blade that has been more accurate for me. Some benefits the Ridgid has that I don't see on the Ryobi TSS102L: A universal power switch that can be better operated by right or left hands. A safety mechanism to prevent accidental powering on of the blade A 'soft start' motor for smoother operation A light directed at the cut area An excellent included Diablo blade Controls for the bevel out front, so you don't need to find/fumble with them at the back of the saw The motor is mounted on a belt and is not direct drive, so less weight to raise/lower on each cut A more robust looking and flexible clamp for holding pieces down A taller, larger and adjustable fence Good cable management An additional handle at the rear to help carry it around - this is really nice since it is heavy and awkward to carry. You also get what you pay for. The Ridgid cost me around $300 and is a solid tool that I enjoy using and can trust for accurate cuts. The Ryobi is nearly have the price, is missing several features and if it's like the older Ryobi my father-in-law has, it can't do as good of a job and isn't as trustworthy for cuts. Ultimately the Ryobi will get the job done, it may not perform at the same level without additional effort and potentially minor adjustments or misaligned cuts, but it will make compound cuts. It always comes down to what you expect from your tools and how much you really need them. Do you want to pay more now for a better tool, or pay less, have some issues to overcome and either cease needing the tool or upgrade later for less frustration? I believe the Ridgid has been discontinued sadly. The same company that makes Ridgid makes Ryobi. If you want a slightly better saw over the Ryobi you might want to consider the Dewalt. Makita also makes a really good compound saw, but it gets to be a bit more expensive.

Q:What is the best folding/portable table to go with the Ridgid ms255sr saw?

Answer This Question

A:  Sawbuck, almost any miter saw stand will work with this saw, and if you mount a small plywood base to the saw, any stand will work. The one that's best depends on your personal requirements. Do you need wheels? Is the weight of the stand an issue for you? Do you need strong supports at the ends of your lumber? Do you need roller supports or will metal bars suffice? Take a look at the miter saw stands at Home Depot and see what each has to offer. For me, strong roller supports are essential, and wheels allow me to leave the saw attached to the stand when the saw is being transported. Your needs may be different.

A:  I personally use the Ryobi table available at The Home Depot store. I utilize this table as it is light weight as well as sturdy. the Home Depot also has sever great tables available which will fulfill your needs, however the Ryobi fulfills my needs.

A:  I bought the Rigid one, https://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-Universal-Mobile-Miter-Saw-Stand-with-Mounting-Braces-AC9946/206992161 and have been very impressed. Works perfectly with the saw.

A:  I don't know what the best would be, but I have the Craftsman one and it works well. I got it for a good price and like its arms, adjustability and ease of taking the saw off the stand. I might suggest the DeWalt one though as it has wheels which I wish mine had. Also I'm sure any Ridgid saw would work well on the Ridgid stand, but I think most stands are like mine and will work with all or almost all saws.

A:  Fairly certain that they did, sadly. It's been an excellent saw for me, way better than the ~7 year old Ryobi my father-in-law bought that I borrowed until I bought my own.
