Q:Can these doors be open . Even if they are locked from inside

    Answer This Question

A:  Yes, if you have special tool that cams with the handle, ..or check internet.

    by|Oct 24, 2021

A:  most interior doors of this type have a small hole in the part of the handle that you rotate, into which you insert a key, ordinarily rudimentary like a small screwdriver and you unlock it by turning the key, or sometimes it is just a straight piece of metal like a paper clip that you insert and when you push it it unlocks the door. I can't see the picture well enough at this minute to see the hole.

A:  Yes, They come with a small allen wrench that can be placed in a small hole in the outside handle. You just push it in and click, the door unlocks. We keep ours on the top of the doorframe for emergencies.

              Answer This Question

A:  The interior or exterior lever can be removed. To replace the lever, simply push the lever towards the door. You should hear a click, which is the lever snapping into place. Q:Does the lever (spring mechanism) make much noticeable noise when used? What about the "pop" of the push button lock? Having owned similar models in prior home I would be reluctant to purchase this if it behaved similar to the other models, i.e. too loud.

A:  The lever doesn’t make noise. I obviously can’t speak to the loudness of your past experience but the lock pops at what I consider to be a normal volume for such knobs.

A:  The F40 does emit a "click" when either depressing the push-button, or releasing the push-button. That is normal due to the spring-action at play. However, most consider it to be more on the quiet end of the audible spectrum. If you have any other questions or require any further assistance, please reach out to Customer Care at 888-805-9837.

Q:Picture a clock face. How far do you have to turn the lever to have it open? I noticed on some handles like these you have to go from (clock face) 3 to 6 or 9 to 6 to get it to open. This puts a strain on the person's wrist to have to turn it a full 1/4 turn down to open the door. On other brand handles I've found it is 3 to 4.5 or 9 to 7.5 to open.

A:  Turn to approximately 6:45 or 7 to open. Really not bad.

                        by|Nov 16, 2018

A:  To open the door using these handles and referencing a clock face, you have to push the lever 1/4 turn. It would actually be 9 to 6. It is not difficult at all. I have bad arthritis in my hands and these knobs don’t aggravate my hands at all. Plus I can use my elbow to open a door if my hands are full.

A:  If your strike is close to door, I would say 3 to 6, if strike is far or has a gap then 3 to 5

A:  On a door lever facing the left you need to press from 9-8, but it is more comfortable to press it all the way to 7. The lever does not go all the way to 6, more like 6.5-7. This is not a door knob. It is a lever that you press with your fingers. I do not feel any pressure on my wrist. The action is all in your fingers.

A:  If the above Schlage product is what you are replacing, they are only a shade over $20 and can be replaced in 15 minutes with only a screw driver. They are easy to install upside down so make certain that the lever is in the same position as the photograph. It is easy to use the provided tool to pull off the lever so that it can be positioned properly.
