A:  It is matte black.

A:  Its more a satin. I wouldnt say its shiney, and definitely not flat.

A:  It’s not super glossy but definitely not flat or Matt. It’s got some sheen to it almost something between satin and semi gloss.

A:  That would depend on the material you are using for the stair treads. If you are using tile that will fit under the lip, yes. If the tile protrudes above the lip of the trim, I would be concerned about the trim pulling loose from the tile with the weight of people stepping on the edge of the tread.

A:  Schluter makes a stair nosing. I would use that product over the metal edging just from a safety issue.

                    Answer This Question

A:  Yes, the Bright Black is DEFINITELY glossy!! Very shiny! I read numerous reviews to understand this because I did not want the other matte black textured option (the texture is not appealing to me.) I thought I had confirmed the bright black is not glossy and is a mix between "matte" and "satin." They arrived today and are extremely shiny, glossy, reflective, etc. If you are going for a matte black look, I recommend the "brushed aluminum". In person, it looks very close to all my matte black plumbing and lighting fixtures.

A:  It isn't shiny like a gloss, however, I would say it is reflective a bit with direct lighting, in that you will note it is metal. I paired it with a tile that has a bit of sparkle in direct light and don't even notice that it is there. I suggest it will be a great way to edge your fireplace, if that is the intent. I'd suggest you purchase, hold next to the fireplace and if you don't like it, return it. I

A:  you should use the thinset to hold this in place, so you don't need to account for the extra 1/8 inch. it sits flat against the hardie backer
