Good Afternoon Nitin, This is McKenzie from Simpson Strong-Tie. The MP36 is 20 ga which is approx .0346" thick, but it will also depend on how you hammer the teeth of the plates in. I hope that helps. Sincerely, McKenzie

    Answer This Question

Hi Eric, This is Colin from Simpson Strong-Tie. Hardie, Har, Har! Back scratchers, that's good! Yes if you are an elephant. Otherwise you would need a gentle touch or I would expect you would need lots of bandages. Seriously, if you need more information or have additional questions, please contact the Simpson Strong-Tie Customer Service team at 800-999-5099. We look forward to hearing from you.

      Answer This Question

Hello Robert, Our mending plates are a non-loaded plate typically used for wood home projects. If attaching to laminate I'm not sure how you would accomplish that as the teeth impress into wood. Sincerely, McKenzie

              Answer This Question

The MP Mending Plates are not load rated; it would be up to the Designer to evaluate the suitability of this connector for the specific application. Also, railroad ties can be highly corrosive. The MP Mending Plates have the standard G90 galvanized finish which provides a low level of corrosion resistance. Thank you!

                Answer This Question

This product is a versatile and easy-to-use mending plate for wood-to-wood connections. No nails or notching of wood required. For non-structural applications only; not for truss applications. To install, place the plate over two pieces of aligned wood with arrows aligned at joint, place a wood block over the mending plate and hammer the wood block to embed the prongs. Thank you!
