Q:Is it good for boat trailer bunks.

Answer This Question

A:  Thomas, aluminum contact is not recommended when Pressure-Treated wood products are immersed in water or are subject to frequent and prolonged wetting or other severe exposure conditions. In such cases, a moisture-resistant protective barrier should be placed between the aluminum products and Pressure-Treated wood. Pressure-Treated wood should not be encased, sealed or wrapped with aluminum products where moisture or water can be trapped to avoid pitting or other unwanted results. Mold growth may occur on building products, including untreated or treated wood. To remove mold from a treated wood surface, mild soap and water is typically used.

      Answer This Question

A:  RayC, when pressure-treated products are machined (crosscut, ripped or machined), unprotected or weakly protected areas can be exposed, lessening the wood’s ability to resist attack from decay fungi or termites. Applying a good quality brush-on or spray-on product is never a bad idea. These products are readily available. Look for penetrating products that boast water repellency, UV protection, and if desirable, color. Generally, we would not recommend film-forming products like paints or other “long term products.” When you believe the wood is dry enough, apply a small amount and test for ready absorption into the wood. Generally, these products will also have directions for confirming the wood is ready for the application of the product. For best results, the first application should be within 90 days of completing your project. For more information, please contact the HD.com customer service department at 800-430-3376. Q:Can I use this lumber for building a raised bed vegetable garden?

                Answer This Question

A:  Chandler, This can be used to create a raised garden bed. The most common issue we see when people create their own raised bed, is not having enough support in the bottom of the bed, causing it to fail. Just be sure to re-enforce the bottom so the weight of the soil doesn't cause any issues with the integrity of the bed.
