Q:Is there a lighter colored glass shade that would fit this for a brighter look?

A:  Thank you for your question. We do not offer a different glass shade for the Ripley ceiling fan and this glass shade is specific to the fan so you are not able to change it out. You can change out the CFL light bulbs to LED bulbs which may provide more light.

    A:  Thank you for your question. This ceiling fan is an A/C ceiling fan and needs to be hard wired to a standard outlet/junction box per included instructions.

      A:  Thank you for your question. The Contempra IV comes includes (4) candelabra (E12) base, 4.5 watt B11 LED bulbs and these can be changed out when they burn out.

          A:  No, the kit in not optional on the Contempra IV ceiling fan. This fan does not have a switch housing cap to cap off the bottom of the fan. You will need to use the included light kit.

                  A:  yeah, fairly quiet due to dc motor. I replaced a cheaper ac unit with this due to noise, am mostly happy with the swap. On low speeds it moves air well and is nearly inaudible beyond 6-8' or so, but sitting below it mine still hums more than I'd like.

                    A:  The Contempra IV has reversible blades and one side is dark cherry and the other side is walnut finish. The image on the website is the walnut finish but we do also show an image with the dark cherry blade finish.

                        A:  No, a remote control is not included and cannot be used with this fan as this is a hugger style fan and it does not allow room for a receiver (for the remote control) up in the canopy of the fan.
