Q:If so what is the best way to test fence?

A:  This tester can be used on wire, poly wire, poly rope and poly tape. To test, hook one end of the tester to the poly tape and place the probe of the tester in the ground to obtain a voltage reading.

    A:  It works for my DC powered fence. This tester tests power on the fence, and has nothing to do with the source of the power. So it will work for solar power sources as long as the power is within its range.

      A:  My understanding is that the more lights are lit, the stronger the power.

        A:  This tester reads up to 5,500 volts. If all five lights are lit, it indicates that the voltage is higher than 5,500.
