Answer This Question
A: Happy to help! Rust-Oleum Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Water-Based Primer will adhere to most surfaces and can be topcoated with oil or water-based paints. Make sure the surface is thoroughly cleaned and allowed to dry prior to priming. While not required, lightly sanding high-touch areas and edges can help promote full adhesion and longevity.

Q:will this product seal knots in pine wood
by|Jun 15, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Happy to help! While Rust-Oleum Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Water-Based Primer can be used for some tannins on bare wood, we do not recommend it for sealing knots. Instead, we recommend Rust-Oleum Zinsser B-I-N Shellac-Based Primer to spot prime wood knots and sap streaks. If this is for exterior surfaces, the B-I-N can only be used to spot prime these areas before priming the whole surface with an exterior-grade primer.

Q:Can this be used over shellac
by|Jun 4, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Happy to clear things up, Susan! Rust-Oleum Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Water-Based Primer is suitable for use over our shellac-based primers. However, if wanting to use over a wood finish, the shellac may contain wax and can prevent the adhesion of our primers. If a wood finish shellac was used, we recommend using Rust-Oleum Zinsser SealCoat Universal Sanding Sealer as an intermediate coat before applying any primer or paint.

Q:Can i use this primer on laminate cabinets without sanding?
by|May 30, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Happy to help, Kuen. Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Water Based Primer can be applied to laminate surfaces without sanding. Surfaces should be clean, dry, sound, and free of dust, dirt, excessive chalky material, grime, grease, oil, wax, mildew, wallpaper, adhesive or any contamination that may interfere with adhesion. If unsure of cleanliness, always wash the surface with an appropriate ammoniated cleaning solution or solvent (do not use TSP as a cleaner).
