This dirt is perfect for water gardens. It worked great for my container pond with water lilies and lotus. The water clouds up when the dirt is first added, but is clear after a day or so.

Nutrient Rich and Cost Effective
DynaDirt is an excellent alternative to traditional aquasoil -- since the aquasoil needed for a four-foot aquarium like mine would be at least $150. The plant growth has been impressive (after about three months) with no signs of any nutrient deficiency. I chose to "cap" the DynaDirt with some play sand (to "lock down" the nutrients and mitigate algae growth). I couldn't be happier with my purchase -- since everything turned out the way I had planned.

JUST What I needed!! It works GREAT in the pond! I used it in fabric pots, and it stays put really well and doesn't wash away like the soil I had!! Leaves the water WAY cleaner!!! LOVE that!! Will use again!! And the plants seem to love it too, because they have more than doubled in size since transplanting!!

Awesome Aquatic Planting Media
I bought a couple bags of this soil so that we could plant our Elephant Ear plants in our pond.
We planted the Elephant Ear plants in pots so that we could put them into our pond and the Elephant Ear plants that was put into our pond grew twice as fast then the Elephant Ear plants that we had just in pots on our porch. It didn't take long before we had to transplant the Elephant Ears in the pond because they had out grown the pots. I know that they are from the swamps down in the south and they love water so that had helped some with the growing, but the one thing about plants in our pond is, we can't fertilize the Elephant ears in the pond but we did fertilize the ones that was just in pots on our porch and the ones in the DYNADIRT AQUATIC PLANTING SOIL still out grown the ones just in the pots. Finally they got so big that I could no longer keep them in the pond.
So this dirt worked fantastic! And I would recommend this to everyone!

The dirt did not compact like expected, made a mess in my koi pond, had to drain and clean. Would not recommend.

Brown water
Don’t buy the product for aquarium, I think it is meant for outdoor pond use. Hard lesson learnt for me! Been changing water for weeks, still brown!

Great soil for potting your pond plants. Delivery was earlier than expected. The plants quickly rooted in and are growing nicely.

Good soil to plant aquatic plants. I used an inch deep layer, added an inch deep sand, planted water lily bulbs and layered brick gravel loosely and filled with water. Lillies came out perfectly and filled the container.

Have only had this for a few weeks… it is aquatic soil. How can I possibly review how well the plants are doing?

I have a 20,000 koi pond with very expensive filtering system. My pond water has been crystal clear for several years. When I used this product it made the water muddy and now I am spending lots of money and time trying to get it back clean. Do not use this product if you want a clear fish pond. You will regret it the way I am.

We have a large, Agrimaster galvanized steel stock tank which we utilize as water garden. We purchased a bag of DynaDirt to re-pot Water Lilies into larger pots. We used 10" square "net baskets" that were lined with 5 gallon fine mesh paint strainers with a layer of pea gravel on top. The DynaDirt leached out into the pond water, and so far, we have done two complete water exchanges to try to clear it up. Next year, instead of using "net baskets," we will re-pot the Water Lilies into conventional pots (with pea gravel on top) and hopefully the DynaDirt soil will not leach out as drastically. I hope this information is helpful to other water gardeners!

I think that you’d be better off purchasing organic soil. This is pretty much mud. It took me several water changes and then a week to get my container garden somewhat clear. It is like a smoke bomb if you accidentally touch it under water. I have a lot of sand mixed in now and on top to help with this.My plants are thriving but just know that no matter how careful you may be, it is going to be a mess.
