Usually there are some nice straight boards in stock. You have to dig and sort just like anywhere else. The awesome thing is, you can cut the lumber to the length you need, avoiding purchasing extra material that would go to waste. Also cutting off any bow or knots you don't want

I paid 61.08 for a 9 ft board. (item 210708)
I am new to DIY projects. I had the board cut prior to paying. (my learning mistake) The cashier measured and the board came up to $209.60. for one board. Another came to measure and the price came down to $61.08. Nevertheless, a better price. I can not complain, so I quickly paid. So far my project is going well. I may reach out to the company again just to be sure I was charged correctly. However, you should have seen me try and piece the board back together for display where I found it. The laughs were endless. I am joked on about this project ( a column shelf) for almost $210.00. Either way, once the shelf is finished my decor set up may have a little more pose to it. That's all a lady can ask for. I will shop again fearlessly with my own measuring tape and proper planning. I want a tv lift box.

    Good piece of lumber
Used this to build a drawer. Easy to cut on a table saw. Sands nicely. Holds a coat of primer nicely and looks great with a finish coat of paint. Great product.

My husband wanted a board to make some display stands. We bought this plank and it was just what he needed. It did not have any knot holes and it was very smooth. It took stain well also.

Not good for my project. I was trying to make a small box and as long as I was cutting with the grain it was fine but major tearing out when cutting across the grain. Pretty wood, just not good for my intended use. It was also warped on one end and I didn't catch that when i bought it.

The poplar I purchased at Home Depot is excellent for paint-grade woodworking projects. It’s stable, sands well, shapes easily with a router, and takes paint finishes very well. I’m glad Home Depot has poplar boards.

I am not sure of the sourcing on their latest batch of poplar. After going through the whole batch of boards trying to find one that was not cupped or twisted I made my purchase. 24 hrs later I went to use it and it had cupped anyway. I salvaged about 2/3 of the board and tried to use it on my CNC. In spite of brand new carbide bits with settings that were more than conservative the wood shredded as much as it cut, leaving me to do way too much cleanup afterward to get an acceptable end product. It actually came out worse than the pine test board I had completed prior to purchasing this one. I understand the economics of the lowest source price but this is definitely not worth the retail price.

The board is beautiful as far as color and variation, but the wood itself is fairly soft and will scratch. These boards are great for projects that don't entail very much direct contact or activity.
