They worked really well but they split very easily

Unfortunately, the stringers were too short to replace the stringers on my deck that were damaged by a tree fall, so I had to return them. The reason for the 2-star review is for the number of large knots that were positioned in the narrow areas adjacent to the corners where the run and rise meet. This really weakens the stringer and so I was glad I had to return them and make my own from 2x12’s. The buying and returning processes were nice and easy.

Hard to find long ground contact stair stringers in any store in the Mid-Atlantic region. I purchased four of these for steps down to our pier. Would've been quite expensive except for a brief sale this Fall at Home Depot. When I pick up SYP lumber at home improvement stores I inspect each piece carefully for tightest grain, no warping, no cosmetic problems from bark edge, no weak spots from knotholes, etc, so worried about ordering these online. But these were only minimally warped along the long dimension, and easily straightened during installation. No important weak spots from knotholes. A good product, delivered in good shape.

Just as advertised, saved a lot of time

These are not a full, 3-step stringer like the picture shows. They are more like 2 1/2. I ordered 30 of these and the bottom step was out of square about 1/4" on all of them. Huge waste of time waiting for them to be shipped and a huge waste of time fighting with them trying to figure out why they weren't running level. Should have just cut my own from the beginning

These are nothing like what is pictured. They are not a full 3 step stringer. More like 2 1/2. In addition to this, they are very poorly cut. The bottom step is about 1/4" out of square. Extremely disappointed

The bottom step was split but it would have been too much of a hassle to return it. Not pleased with the quality control at all.

One board had a real bad place in it. almost a hole. The other was fine.

So far so good. We will see how they hold up to the winter

I took the box straight to our property that is on an island. One of the stringers is so warped that I couldn’t even use it. Have to decide if I want to reorder or not… inconvenient.
