Effective tape for a clean look on projects
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product free from 3M and I'm really glad I'm getting a chance to check it out. It has been really useful for the project I have been working on. Being able to use the double sided tape has made my project look a lot cleaner than just using regular tape because I can hide it under the photos instead of putting tape on the side of them or having to roll up tape to use it behind them. They have also stayed up on the poster I put them on instead of falling off like sometimes regular tape does. It was really easy to use and doesn't use much tape to stick.

Scrapbooking must
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Perfect for scrapbooking, or pasting anything that requires more than just a small square. Easy to get off the roll, and also to cut from the roll. Also economical as opposed to sticky squares which often do not provide enough coverage.

If only zero stars was an option
By the time I got the liner removed (which took forever) one side was no longer sticky. This is useless, and I'll never buy it again.

Waste of Money
Bought this so I could hang some posters up. thin posters. Doesn’t stick to walls, doors, nothing. The sticky feeling fades after about 5 seconds on my dry thumb. Extremely annoying and not worth purchasing.

double sided tape does not work
I pulled out 8" like it says in the below responses, nothing, pulled out a 12" nothing pulled out another 12" still single sided tape. I think they messed up in the factory and gave me a single sided tape in error. Can't find where to contact company for a replacement.

Could not separate tape to work double sided.
We tried and tried to get this tape to separate without success. THERE ARE NO DIRECTIONS ON IT. We are not stupid. Finally I decided to look on company website for directions. NONE. I read the comments and see the response to pull out 8". I have never used double sided tape before - why would I think of doing that? Frustration! Annoyance!

GREAT two sided tape! MUST cut off the first 8"!
Excellent product! You need to follow the simple instructions of CUTTING OFF the FIRST 8 INCHES of protective tape. THEN it's two sided and so easy/strong to use! I'm a senior citizen woman and it's super easy to use!

double sided tape, no backing
tape will not roll because it's sticking to the backing. I can pull some tape out but cannot place it properly on the item because the tape is sticking to the dispenser. Impossible to use the cutter, have to use scissors. I would have bought a tape runner but the store was sold out, I wonder why? Very disappointed in this product.

My "ARG!" turned into "AHA!"
Bought a 3-pack, despite reading the negative reviews about the backing being hard to peel off. And then went through the same frustrations... until I realized that THERE'S ONLY BACKING ON THE FIRST 6-7 INCHES!! Roll out that section, cut it off, toss it out, and the rest of the roll is ready to go. No backing to peel off. No frustration.
There are no instructions on the packaging (which I have to admit, just one line of "How to get started" on the box would probably help those of us who are, apparently, less smart than tape). The only instructions are printed on the part of the tape that you're supposed to remove -- a little awkward to read since it rotates and is printed in six different languages.
Alas, after trying in vain to remove the "backing" from first part of the roll, it suddenly became apparent that the part of the tape that says to "Unwind this protective wrap" means exactly that: unwind it, and remove that section of the tape and you're golden!

I should have read the reviews
I figured it's 3M so it should be an excellent product. The problem is, is that you can not peel the top part of the tape. The the bottom that you adheres to the item is not the issue. Peeling off the top layer does NOT come off. Sadly I purchased a pack of 5. Save your $.

20 minutes wasted
Just spent 20 minutes trying to figure out how to remove the protective backing off of the tape before I came to this site to find that there are 8 inches of protective wrap you just remove. Seems like alot of waste, even if not included in the dimensions. Better instructions needed on the box.

Time Wasted

Double-Sided Tape with "Remove to Expose" Backing
Years ago I bought a similar product with no backing and liked it. This new roll (removable) gets a D- for ease of usage because the backing is nearly impossible to remove even if I cheat and use tape to try to hold the adhesive part. As far as performance goes, it gets an F because it wouldn't even hold a paper Halloween ornament together for more than a minute.

Needs instructions!!
Without reading these reviews I was going to throw this product away! OK everyone - pull the tape and tear off until all the words are gone! Then the double sided tape starts. No separation or film removal necessary!!

Gotta waste it
Bought this for decorating. After spending way too long trying to remove the protective film, I just decided to use it like regular tape. About 8 inches later the tape has no protective wrap. Thankfully I didn't throw it out!

Does not stick - something changed in your product
Have been using in the past with no issues on cardboard boxes in our warehouse . Last batch I used did not stick. The adhesive is not sticky enough to hold a paper photo to a box. Will look for another supplier.

Hard To Use
It is impossible to use this double sided tape with or without fingernails. I just wasted my money!

Tape Works Well
The tape works well for its intended use, had the same issue of not understanding how to get to the double sided part, but found it eventually. A bit of instruction wont hurt, but it does its job

Horrible experience!

I bought this and it had no instructions for use. I almost threw it away because I did not know that the first 8 inches need to be discarded. I bought a second dispenser with a peel off back and that doesn't seem to work either. again no instrcutions.....

Great product, BUT must dispose of 1st 8" of tape
I was frustrated at first, trying to use this item. Then I found this web page, read some reviews and realized that you MUST dispose of the first eight inches of protective wrap before attempting to use. This is info that really should be printed somewhere on the packaging. If not for this, I would have given it 5 stars instead of 4.

Horrible
I just purchased the Scotch double sided tape dispenser rolls. The box does not have instructions, and I cannot take the clear plastic for the other side off. I tried to search for a video on Youtube, and there are no instructions there as well. For the price, it is definitely not worth it.
