The ceramic beige wood stain I bought looks fantastic on my pergola. It’s a warm, rich French vanilla color and covered well with just one coat for now. My structure was stained and dingy and now it looks bright and clean and fresh as if it had just been built. I’m so very pleased. I wish I had done it a long time ago.

Does not last as advertised
This was a applied to a brand new deck. Good initial results but that quickly ened. Lasted about a season until it started showing wear. Now after 3 seasons it's so bad it needs to be completely repainted. Don't believe the 10 year guarantee Also do not trust the reviews and ratings. I tried several times to post this review with pics but got errors when rated one star. When I rated five stars all of a sudden the same pictures uploaded fine. HD seems to be manipulating reviews for this product.

Hi Jon, thank you for your review. Sorry to hear that our Solid-Color Waterproofing Exterior stain has peeled and needs to be redone. I understand your disappointment since the product did not provide a 10-year life expectancy. Customer satisfaction is very important, and our Customer Care team is on standby and ready to help. Please contact us directly so we can further assist you with a resolution. In the meantime, the issue can be fixed by removing the remaining stain by scraping, sanding, or using a power washer at a low setting. Hi Annie, thanks for your review. I'm sorry to hear the stain seemed thin and didn't cover how you expected. Our Premium Solid Color Stain & Sealer should be consistent with milk or water. If it seems thinner than this, and stirring doesn't help, I don't recommend using that container.
Rest assured that we take customer satisfaction seriously and would love to help you get your project back on track. We sincerely care about your experience and would be delighted to assist you further. Please don't hesitate to contact us directly so we can find a solution together. Looking forward to hearing from you! -Christina Behr

Seems like a great stain & sealer
I just used this on my 62 yr old garage door that is essentially made of plywood panels. Despite that, I think this stain did an amazing job. Will see how it holds up. Paint never seemed to adhere to this door too well. Before and after pics. I’d buy this again!

Doesn't work for White Solid Color Stain
I purchased this to paint a new wood fence. I selected a White Color from the color swatches and took it to the mixing counter to be mixed. The employee looked at me and questioned my selection to tint it white. I said yes, that it was for a wood fence. The employee then stated that they "don't tint white, the base color was already white, and that the base color would be sufficient". Having applied two coats there is absolutely no color change - the wood still looks natural with NO white color

Hi Royden, thanks for your review. I'm sorry to hear there is no color change on your wood fence. This certainly isn't normal for our Solid Color Wood Stain, as its finish should resemble paint. Please feel free to reach out to us directly so we can learn more about your project and assist. It works just have to use common sense.
This stuff is incredible. I've used it on porches, my cars wood ladder rack, interior trim and plenty more. It's a flat paint so of course it's going to hold onto dirt a little more but the finish is crazy durable. It's best painted onto a raw wood surface and will work the best. I've found that it works great with pressure treated lumber, OSB and regular 2X4 lumber. If it peels then the prep work was done incorrectly.

Looks OK, impossible to follow time between coats
1.5 yr old deck when applied. Wood, from HD, not the best, many cracks even new and bad sideways warps hence large gaps. Used Behr's prep and sanded. used roller to apply. Recommend others use brush to fill cracks and cover gaps better. Did provide 2 coats on 200 sq ft. Directions say allow 1 to 2 hr between coats, but also 4 hr for lite traffic. Can't then walk on it to put 2nd coat until 4 hr. I walked on it at 1 hr, for 2nd coat worked OK. Looks better than in photos.

              So pretty!
We chose a solid color paint / stain to go with all of the redwood stain around our deck. We get some very harsh winters in northern California. feet and feet and feet and feet of snow! The one deck gets a lot of abuse all winter long from the snow blower and shovels along with ice that needs to be chopped from our metal roof dripping. I can get two winters out of it before I have to do the deck again. And most of the wear on the paint / stain is from shoveling. The rest of the deck just gets the snow blower and it holds up pretty well. I just cut in real quickly along the edges and then I use a roller for my two coats. Super fast!

                Works Well...
Ive used this Behr Stain for some 30 years on my fence and I cant say enough good words on how good tge product works. The can states the paint will jold up for 25 years, but in my instance it only holds up 5 years, i get allot of mold, so the fence needs to be repainted every few years.

I have a large deck that is stained Barn Red. Recently we re-sided our house in an Olive Green with White trim, and now want the deck white with a dark green flooring. I was skeptical that the white stain would go over the dark red, but it is. I am very pleased. I have had to do two coats, three in some places, but the old dark red is going away and the white is looking sharp and new. We also had this stain customized in the dark green color we wanted and that is covering the deck flooring much easier since it's a dark color going over a dark color. I still did two coats, mainly because this is the deck flooring and will get a lot of wear, and I want to make sure the coverage is good.

Hi Florida Home - Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that the solid stain on your deck is holding onto dirt. To clean the surface, I recommend using our All-In-One Wood Cleaner and a stiff bristle brush. Our wood cleaner can also be diluted with water (at a 1:1 ratio) or used at full strength for more stubborn stains. For further assistance with this, please don't hesitate to reach out to us directly. We'd be happy to help. - Sara Behr

Excellent workability, coverage and adhesion assuming good prep
I have an old 20 year old wood deck which had been painted or solid stained. There were a number of rotting spots and cupping, but no real structural issues. I sanded it with a floor and belt sander sander thoroughly, but not to the point of completely leveling all the cupping. I used a Graco sprayer as a first coat. the product did not need thinning, just an appropriate tip. Second coat was applied using heavy nap rollers. this was key to working it into deep cracks. It was very how when I did this but I avoided painting when it was above 90. The results are stunning. my goal was to get 3 more years before replacing the deck. The product took about a week to fully harden. It was walkable after 4-6 hours, but still not fully toughened.

I needed a water based solid stain for a bar top on a poolside Tiki Bar. The stain went on easy, dries fast and two coats fave me a nice even finish. I eventually added a. third coat but it didn’t improve the look or finish and I could have stopped at two coats. The product is easy to clean up and I gave a light sanding before each coat. The stain was put on pressure treated lumber that I let sit for 6-8 weeks before I stained it. I would have waited longer but the lumber was fairly dry when I bought it and I felt comfortable staining it after the 6-8 weeks. I let the stain cure for about a week and then added 3 coats of an exterior water based polyurethane. I would have given this review 5 Stars except after the second coat, the finish looked identical to a satin paint rather than a stain.

                      Stains almost immediately
I used this white deck paint on my back steps and within the first day of using the steps after letting the paint dry for 72 hours, there are already stains and marks from footprints from just average use. These aren't from muddy shoes/feet either, and even after wiping with a wet rag, they're still there. I would not recommend this paint at all. Or at least get a different color other than white or apply a topcoat.

                      Hi Brooke,

Thank you for reviewing Behr Premium Solid Color Waterproofing Wood Stain & Sealer. I'm very sorry to hear about the dirt resistance issue experienced, as that's not what we want our customers to go through. To remove the tough stains, Gently scrubbing with a mild, non-abrasive liquid detergent can help remove the stains. For tougher areas, Behr All-in-One Wood Cleaner can be applied diluted/undiluted. Customer satisfaction is very important to us and I encourage you to contact Behr directly for further assistance. We'd love to learn more about your project and find the best way to help.

This BEHR Premium Solid stain is by no stretch of the imagination a SOLID stain even after applying the recommended 2 coats. I spent literally two weeks of my life meticulously applying this stain by brush on both sides of a 300’x6’ fence of pressure treated wood (that I let dry out for over 4 months), then power washed to make sure the fence was in pristine condition ready for staining (after waiting another 48 hours for the fence to dry out) before applying stain in cool 70 degree overcast weather. I bought 4-4.74 gal buckets ready off the shelf white color for the job. The first coat soaked right into the wood as if the wood was a dry sponge. So, I was like there is no way I am getting away with only 1 coat, so I applied a second coat and it just soaked into the wood again leaving the fence that I expected to be a SOLID white color, a fence that looked more like a semi-transparent white as the yellowish color of the pine wood still showed through the stain! Extremely disappointed! The only reason I gave it two stars rather than one was because after calling BEHR about the experience they said they would provide me more stain to get the desired result of which I was an emphatic no as I wasn’t about to spend another week of my life brushing on the stain in hopes that a 3rd coat would be enough or they would refund my money. I can’t express how disappointed I am as I expected Premium results after all my research and reading all the positive reviews.

                        Worst Paint Ever
I have used Behr paints in the past and I have to say that this is the worst paint I have ever used by them. I recently did my 10x20 deck in a Red Stain with 2 coats and 5 gallons and had no issues with it at all but this White is the worst. I am doing 2 hand rails on my front step with picket. This stuff is like painting with water. Its constantly dripping off the brush and making a mess. My wife started yesterday. Thats right yesterday. This has been a 2 day ordeal just to paint 2 hand rails with pickets. I figured she was just taking her sweet old time but I go to finish today and I can see why. This paint is the worst. 2 coats my behind. 4 coats of this white is more like it. I am most likely going to have to get another gallon but it will not be this brand. I will use this as a base. The bad part is we are not even covering over old paint. This is new wood. I expect the wood to suck up some paint. This isnt my first painting experience but this stuff is a total waste of time. Maybe its a bad can but I wont be buying this white anymore. Stuff is a joke. Its so bad I took a picture mid job hoping that the paint in the can will dry up and thicken to make it more applicable.
