Disappointed! The majority smaller than 1/2.
I just received my purchase and was disappointed to find that most of them are smaller than 1/2 in diameter. I understand these are natural and you can't get exactly 1 inch, but at least try to come close. Not to mention I paid $20 more than posted on other sites, however, if I would have realized the other sites were being more honest with their description, I would have saved the money and gone elsewhere.

We do state in our description that the diameter is approximate and that the poles do taper, so while one end may be 1", the other end may be smaller. Excellent! Strong and good looking.
Very pleased. Strong, sound, size as specified, minimal taper, good appearance. Only needed a dozen, but i suspected they'd be widely useful. Already, even before getting the main project done, i made a nice-looking fence to support some iris that were floppy this year. Very glad i ordered these!
Obvious tip for any bamboo: tape before cutting or drilling; even a few layers of masking tape can minimize the splitting/cracking bamboo is prone to.

These bamboo poles are working well in my garden! I made tee pee trellises for my beans and morning glories, and the poles are a great height for that purpose. They are really heavy duty, not the wimpy thin bamboo. I would highly recommend these for anyone trying to make a heavy duty trellis/bamboo structure.
