I'm not experienced in this field. But I purchased these to braze stainless steel bolts to a motorcycle gas tank to pull dents out. Needed a MAPP gas torch to get the metal RED hot. Be patient, you really need to get the working material and the rod hot enough so the rod becomes liquid and shiny to form a good fillet bond. What's nice is that when I need to remove the bolt after the dent is pulled, I just head the bronze to 1,650F and pull it off.

I've never done brazing before, but a need arose. I used these rods with a MAPP gas torch. The flux coating on the rods made it super easy and I easily competed the brazing. I would buy again.

    Would not flow
Was attempting to braze copper. Had the fitting cherry hot with MAPP gas. Cleaned fitting and tube prior. The flux melted off rod but could not get the rod to bond with the copper.

The Bronze Flux rods worked as expected. The purchase was well worth the trip to Home Depot and I'm glad Home Depot had them in stock. The sales representative was helpful in finding them for me.

      Doesn't flow out
This product is supposed to be good for brazing cast iron, I assume, using a BM torch. It can't. I attempted to braze a small cross-section cast piece (about 3/8' square). As recommended, I beveled the edges, cleaned the iron, and preheated the cast iron to 600F for 1/2 hr. I then heated the iron in the repair location until red hot- the rod would not melt. Even in the direct flame of the torch, it would not flow. It did clump, but would not flow. I don't recommend this rod for use with a Bernzomatic 7000 torch on propane.

Due to the fact that there's no more mapp gas, it didn't melt with the propane. And I know they have cans that say "mapp" but they are not real mapp gas, the company kept the name just for marketing purposes.

I was hoping I could melt the thinner rod with butane or propane torches I had on hand. No such luck. Needs to be hotter.
