I've always been a fan of felt pots for growing potted plants. Through natural air- pruning they prevent roots from circle and have great drainage. After I picked up a few of these "smart pot-esq" pots at my local Home Depot I checked out the label and they are actually manufactured by "Smart Pots"! Same price as Amazon and probably cheaper than your local specialty garden center for the "OG's" in the felt pot market.

I purchased these to add to the 3 others I already had. These bags are amazing!

These are good pots to plant outside you can roll the sides down to let the sun in. Especially with potatoes but you need to keep healing up and adding dirt you can keep raising the sides

Not worth the price. Can get as good of quality with the Root Pouch Brand.. and they seem ALOT nicer..

These bags come in nine sizes (I believe HD carries two sizes of these - 12x12 and 16x16). Note the manufacturer states that they are a tear-resistant, reusable felt pot with built in handles for easy mobility. The breathable felt material helps plants by naturally aerating and pruning the root zone, keeps roots from circling, and roots will stay cool. Small new roots can even penetrate the material. This is a great choice too if you are transplanting and the plant, shrub or tree has to stay in a temp location before permanent planting. The material is a porous geo-textile fabric that breathes, letting water pass through and aerate the soil, which means better, healthier plants. The material does not rot. However, I found them due to a web search in dealing with aquatic plants in ponds (the manufacturer also labels these same felt bags as "pond pots"). The problem is that some aquatic plants still need dirt for their roots. Most of the aquatic pots are not solid but more like a fine basket with many holes allow water and roots to intermingle. This bag provides a way to do both allowing water through the material and keeping dirt, rocks and such from getting in the pond keeping your water clearer. Plastic pots get brittle and can hurt or scar fish - this bag does not. The pots conform to the generally uneven surfaces of a pond too keeping them in place better than ridgid pots. Jeff
