Perfect!
This is a fabulous product. The fan is very quiet. The lights bright! (So bright it shows areas on my glass stovetop that needed cleaned I hadn't seen before.) The lines are clean with no sharp edges.

Looks and works great
Broan is a favorite name brand for kitchen appliances. The stainless steel looks modern. I use the light everyday! The filters are easy to remove and clean.

This range hood gives off a lot of light and is very good at removing cooking odors from my kitchen. On high fan speed it is a little loud but I will put up with a little noise to keep my house from smelling like cooking odors for a week!

Works great but be improved
The fan works great, It works much like the very old Broan that I replaced with the removable fan in the center that can be cleaned. Great feature. It is noisy on high (Hi Low only) and the lights are so bright (not dimmable) that I had to partially cover with aluminum tape. Didn't help, now use a lamp. Also, the depth is 4 inches more that my last two & I can't use my overhead cabinets from standing anymore. It does the job & there was no problem with installing.

Replaced an old range hood. Looks nice. Happy-ish.
Pros: 1. Attractive. 2. Quiet.
Cons: 1. Expensive, considering it's just a fan, a light, and some sheet metal. 2. Disappointing quality: a spot weld was missing on a fan arm, causing a rattle. Repaired with silicone. 3. LEDs are too bright. Moreover, if the color used was "bright white" rather than the "soft white" provided, it would help to see your food colors better. 4. Removing the blue protective tape on the components is too fussy and time consuming. 5. The filters are under so much tension that they curve and don't fully seat.

Can't even handle the smoke from a single steak.
I turned on the highest fan setting and tried cooking a single steak in a cast iron skillet. The suction is so weak that the fumes were visibly rising past the unit and not being sucked in. You pretty much have to cook on a rear burner to have any hope of this unit catching any fumes. This is the first hood that I can't cook a basic steak with as it will always set off smoke alarms in the house. Total disappointment.

We wanted a hood with more-than-the-average cfm removed and a smaller than average body for the fan. The Mantra AVSF1 fit the bill. We chose to direct vent out the back of the hood because our oven/range is on an exterior wall. I like the way the fan ramps up to full speed rather than jolting to start. This hood does keep smoke and heat vented outside but you can still smell what your cooking so not ALL of the air is removed.
I am pleased with the lighting which is provided by two bright LED strips that give more than enough light.
We chose the stainless steel finish and are happy with it.
The light switch is a on/off rocker. The fan switch is a rocker switch with low speed left and high speed right.
It was easy to install and with the mounting support rails I was able to I stall it alone.
Another review commented on how the top of the hood was not made of stainless steel. That section was still metal and is completely covered by the cabinet the hood was mounted to.

This is the rating of the blower when not installed inside the range hood or no duct work attached. Broan-NuTone range hoods are HVI certified, which is a third-party organization that develops test procedures and certification programs for airflow, sound levels, and energy performance. Unfortunately, many range hoods on the market today do not hold to this high standard. Their claims of cfm ratings are often of the blower not installed inside the range hood or no duct work attached, and not validated by HVI. To give our customers a true comparison of our products with other brands in the marketplace, we list both the Blower Max CFM and the HVI certified CFM. For this reason, you will see a different cfm on the specification label/box. Our specification sheets will show all the necessary information of the blower regarding the cfm and the ducting.
