After less than a week I can say the following with confidence. This Canarm CP56 is a great fan within the scope of its design. I unfortunately discovered after installation that it does not have the “Reversible Motor” claimed in the online specifications (homedepot.com June 2021). The “Reversible Motor” claim is untrue; therefore this fan did not meet my requirements. The fan after installation proved to be well balanced. It does produce some noise on the highest speed-setting. The sound level did not reduce noticeably after the 24 hour break-in period; it was suitably quiet right out of the box. If you live in an urban area the sound will probably not stand out very much. If you live in a rural area any ceiling fan will be audible and noticeable. The sound level on the 2 lowest speed settings was minimal and more than acceptable to me. The ceiling mount is robust and well designed. Installation was straight-forward and easy. The mount design will probably eliminate any squeaks which might result when dust, grease, and other things which collect on the blades ultimately rendered the assembly less-balanced between cleanings. The included wall control is a 4-speed which I liked and found more than adequate. The description states “When used with our MC series speed controls the speed range is infinite”; so if you prefer a variable speed-control instead of these presets; doing this is a compatible option. The only complaint I have about this item is that Home Depot indicated it was reversible when it was not. The Canarm company itself makes no such claim and their telephone support was great and efficient. I spent 40 minutes using the Home Depot online chat immediately before calling Canarm directly; getting a clear answer in under 5 minutes was a stark contrast and improvement. If you need support; definitely call Canarm first.

Speed controller is a rubbish. Full speed to almost nothing next level down. What happened to the intermediate speeds? Says it has four speed levels but really its just an on/off switch from full blast or zero.

The description is wrong. I purchased this fan to replace one (that only has downdraft) in my high ceiling living room. I looked specifically for one that was reversible. I wanted a fan that would push the warm air down from the ceiling by running in reverse. I received the fan and opened the box only to find out that there were only three wires coming from the motor. An internet search yielded a CANARM descriptive PDF (see attached images), confirming my strong suspicion that this fan is NOT REVERSIBLE.

It says on the specifications that it can be angle mounted, but it cannot.

Installed this fan in my new shop. It's mounted approx. 14' high. It moves air very well.

This fan is good quality, very easy to install. It is quiet. I like the hook feature for simplifying installation, I wish all fans had that! It comes with the adjustable switch! The Specs said it was rated at 20500 CFM...which is about 4x an average fan, and 2x an impressive fan. That is the only reason I bought it. I wanted it in my garage, where we workout, etc. and I wanted a fan that would blow us out of there! On the highest/fastest setting, you can basically feel it directly beneath the fan. The performance of this fan is at best, average. If you like the styling and just need an average fan...go for it. I plan to return mine....soon. I need more blow!

Easy to install, very simple operation, very quiet. Everything you need is in the box except for your standard installation stuff. Will buy again if needed.

This fan is great for bigger spaces. Only problem I faced was, these were being installed on a 14 foot slopped ceiling so I needed longer (36" downrod needed) down rods than what came in the package. Outsourcing those were a bit of a hassle. But now they are installed and look great.

Down rod to short and down rod is smaller than the down rods you can buy at the store.
