Grease and Used parts.
It is a beautiful grill, I really liked it. I assembled it by myself, it took me about 3 hours, it wasnt too hard. I would give this grill 5 stars but I am giving it only 3 stars because I received a combination of new and used parts. It was supposed to be brand new, in a box. It has grease on some parts and it has a grease smell to it. More than likely I will return it, unless I get a partial refund or something like that for getting used parts.

    Arrived completely assembled. No dents, or rust. Delivery guys put it on my front porch under the roof and didn’t just leave it in the driveway. Very happy with it. Heat control is awesome.

      Great Features and accessories to add!
      [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought the Char-Griller Double play a year ago and discovered that I can purchase a side bbq grill in which it turns the grill into a smoker as I feel is an important add-on since this is the first time ever smoking anything. I also bought a cover to fit the smoker and grill completely.

          Disappointed-Twice.
          [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had two of these grills. I won the first grill from my employer through an incentive. The internal parts and entire barrel/tub rusted out within two years. I loved the grill and set-up so i purchased the same grill (both times i had the off-set smoker accessory) but this time i purchased the cover, changed location (away from rain) and oiled down the entire grill frequently (per manual instructions) but once a gain the entire grill rusted out within two years. Very disappointed, not only about the lost investment, but because as i said before, it was the best set-up I've ever seen and i truly enjoyed the grill.

            great grill at a fair price
            This is my second one. Only needed another because i moved and didnt have room in the truck! Great quality parts (but be sure to buy one still in the box and assemble it yourself as there are quite a few parts and opportunities to make mistakes. Also, I recommend buying the fitted cover. The grill will last much longer!

                There were many small issues during the assembly process. Parts called out in the instructions that weren't in the package, weak welds noted, assembly instruction for certain parts did not work. What should have taken about an hour to assemble ended in 3. Performance after assembly, it works well and as desired. I still have concerns over the weak weld points I spotted but hope it has a long life.

                Purchased this item online for a curbside pickup
                Not sure about the product yet however the condition in which the Home Depot on Mechanicsville Road in Richmond Virginia tried to give me this item was horrific. I did not request it to be pre-assembled but even if I had this is ridiculous.

                  Received brand new and inside cover was rusted!!
                  Ordered this online to be delivered assembled. When received the inside of both lids was rusted. Also had some charred paper stuck to lid and in the bottom of grates. This was not a brand new grill as far as we are concerned! Home Depot offered us $50 credit for inconvenience. Not what we want. We wanted and ordered a new grill. Will be calling to have them pick up and return.

                    Rusts out in 2 years
                    Purchased November 2022, it’s now April of 2024 and completely rusted out where the gas burners are attached. Very dangerous. Kept almost always under a cover. I guess the rust started at the attachment points on the gas side because the coal side is perfect Unfortunate because very good design in theory just wish materials were better

                      dent in lid, assembled incorrectly
                      I received the grill in a timely manner so that wasnt an issue. After removing the plastic wrapping noticed a dent in one of the lids. Then once I got it into the backyard realized that the lids were installed on the wrong side. lucky for home depot rather than call customer service and complain, I fixed it myself. You would think that when you order something new and it comes pre assembled that it would be put together correctly. I also hammered out most of the dent as well.....

                          Low and Slow or Fast with Gas
                          [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the ability to use either the charcoal(my favorite) side or when in a rush I can use the propane option. I rotate the both depending on the protein and time. I have also added a fire box to the charcoal side for when I have the time to smoke meats. I love my Grill! I use it all the time and it's been durable. Moving it on and off my deck and around the yard.

                            Love the Double Play Features
                            [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought my Double Play 4 years ago, after my Duo 5050 finally rotted out after giving me a good 10 years of grilling and smoking! I have the side fire box attached to the grill. The ease of firing off the gas side after work to grill up some burgers for dinner is great. I also enjoy using the charcoal side when I have a nice steak to cook and I have the extra time but what I really enjoy is smoking some pork or a nice brisket even some ribs and occasionally a Jack Daniel's Fire pumpkin pie!!

                                POOR QUALITY GRILL
                                POOR QUALITY. I live in the sunny Southeast US. This product has fallen apart in 16 months. I replaced the Grill grates when they rusted through in 7 months. The rest of the grill designated over the next few months. The brackets supporting the burners and the shelves holding up the grates wasted away in only 16 months. I had other grills last 3-5 years or more. This Chargriller product is a complete waste of money!!!

                                  The steel construction and the black professional finish of this grill looks great. No nonsense but designed with great features. Assembly was easy and straightforward. I personally like the “double play” concept of being able to cook with gas and/or coal then having a side burner for sauces or soups is supreme. The warming grates on both sides, an ample front shelf that fold out of the way, and the enamel grilling grates are the perfect touch. Looking forward to firing it up this weekend!

                                  Shame on me "Caveat Emptor"
                                  I was quite excited to purchase this grill and cover as a gift for the families that help with our horses. I picked it up after church. I did make sure the cover was inside the grill but did not completely inspect it prior to loading onto my truck. I was simply excited to have it. Next day, our hearts broken, grill was very rusted and filthy inside as it was most likely out in the weather. Wanted to bring it back- they said no we gave it an intense cleaning. Shame HD staff for this embarrassment

                                    Won’t last a season
                                    Like others have posted. I was very pleased with the functionality and performance of this grill when I initially purchased it. However, now 13 months later even though cleaned and covered after each use, the grill side has rusted out to the point the flame tents and burner tubes are not supported making the gas side unusable. I have submitted a complaint/ request to the chargriller site for replacement but have never heard back from them.

                                      great grill for about a year. then it fell apart.
                                      I bought this grill cuz i like the option for charcoal or gas. It fell apart after a year. burners rusted to nothing. customer service wont answer the phone or reply to warranty claims or chats. After complaining on Instagram i got a person to reply to my warranty case. They have been dragging me a long for 3 month with excuses. I should have bought a weber. I'll take them and homedepot to small claims court and get my $500 back. Incase they read reviews my support number is 568274

                                        Do not buy this garbage!!
                                        The trouble started immediately after we picked it up. We had it assembled by the store and everything was loose. The first time we ever used the gas side, flames burnt up the whole grill. Customer service is nonexistent. Clearly a faulty product and they know it.

                                            GARBAGE!
                                            Bought it Sept 2 2022, Used it 5 times COVERED it with the CharBroiler cover that I invested in and it is already rusting out. I bought this to replace a cheapo grill that didn't rust for 5 yrs. The paint is blistering probably because there is no way to keep the interior temp low enough even with one burner on the low setting. The design team should be fired.

                                              Fantastic Find!
                                              I am extremely pleased with this grill. You get the best of both world by being able to use both charcoal and gas. I've had it for a few months, and it has been great so far. Highly recommend!

                                                DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY
                                                If I could give this Zero flames I absolutely would! I bought this in May 2022. It's not even Labor Day and My whole gas grilling side is completely rusted. Flaking rust in my food is completely unacceptable! And! The igniter stopped working. Their so called 5 year warranty is a joke! They are not warranting the rust! This isn't even 4 months old! For almost $500 I would absolutely would have hoped it lasted a lot longer than 4 months! Do NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS GARBAGE! I can get a grill for $200 and it would have lasted me at least 3 years.
