These work great.
I am on my 3rd set of these. I put them underneath the top rail on my deck 85 total feet. They hold my incandescent rope lights perfectly. The nice straight lines really adds to the professional look of the deck at night. These are plastic though...and that means they will "age" when exposed to the outdoors. I built my deck in '96 and put these lights up around 2000. I have to replace them every 10 years because they get brittle and yellow with age. Right about the time I need to re-stain my deck. I have always used screws to hold these tracks up. Being outside, the 3M tape isn't rated for water. So I drill holes very 12 inches and use exterior grade screws to secure them. I have tried both with the tape and without (left the cover on the tape) both have held well with the screws, however, those without tape are easier to remove for staining. So bottom line is they work, I would not use the tape, and they will go brittle and yellow over the years. But they do look very nice when you install them.

To make a long story short, I bought about 400 feet of Westek rope lights you illuminate much of our outside area. I bought the channels to install the lights in places where I could not use a stapler and wire twists. The problem is that the rope lights do not fit into the U channel easily. In trying to get the rope lights into the channeling, the channeling gets distorted and it makes them not fit squarely uniformly in the places where they need to go. I tried retwisting the rope lights but that was a lot of work without acceptable results. I bought these lights to replace rope lights and channeling that I installed about 7 or 8 years ago. The weather finely took it's toll on the old lights and I felt a total replacement was in order. Unfortunately, the new job is not going well. I don't remember the old lights being so difficult to press into the channeling. Are the new channels smaller, or are the new lights larger? I would love to hear the cause of the problem and if there an easier way to get this job done, I would be happy to hear what that is. Thank you.

Crap! Worst product I've used this millennium!
The double sided tape is garbage. Not strong enough to hold up lights, and even if it did, just try and pull the waxy red strip off the tape without it removing the tape. And that is if you are lucky enough to even start to pull the red tape covering off. Lucky enough? Buy a lottery tickey because the universe is shining on you today! The manufacturer should spend a little more money to make a decent product. I mean this stuff costs more than the rope light per foot as it is. Use screws!

Not U Channel, More Like C Channel
I purchased this item for my Led Strip project. Needless to say I was very disappointed when I picked them up. This item states that it is U Channel but it isn't. I needed a flat bottom as in picture but its Curved instead. Can't use them.

          These are a joke.
This product was a great idea but for it to be effective they need to stay up more than 24 hours. They fell off the ceiling of my porch less than 24 hours after I put them up. I will be returning these.

After cleaning the surface where the Mounting channel was placed, the adhesive backing on it did not stick well in some areas. Two days later we found the product hanging off. Had to come back with some tiny screws for support. We bought the soft white rope light but don’t be fooled, it’s actually a pink color. This light does a good job of lighting up a dark area in our back yard. We hooked it up to a dusk to dawn adaptor and is a good security feature.

Pros: Vinyl is nice and sturdy. Easy to trim.Lights fit snuggly in track. Creates a nice clean line when the lights are lit.Cons: Tape on back is very poor. Suggest using screws or double sided tape. I used both.

Absolute trash. The adhesive strips came right off when trying to apply. I was hoping it was just one strip, or hoping I could do a better job. Nope, the second strip I bought was exactly the same. I returned both.
