I really like these things. I purchased one and liked it so much that I went back and got another. My outdoor BBQ pit area never had real good lighting, and that is a pet peeve of mine----lack of good light. So, I wanted these mounted on on the wall, under the eaves, and I wanted to use rigid conduit. I made the following easy modifications. 1. These were designed to hang from chains, and I wanted the mounted directly to the wall. No problem, drill 4 holes in the back of the case, use 1" wood screws and dab of sealant to maintain water tightness. These are pretty light, so even with drywall, you can probably use anchors. 2. I wanted to use rigid pvc conduit, so used a 1/2" male terminal adapter (SKU 786856) in place of the one pictured. Used a danco #14 o'ring (SKU 584038 box of 10 $2.27) from plumbing, and a halex 1/2" rigid conduit lock nut (SKU # 655431 pack of 20 cost was a whopping $3.03). You could easily use metal conduit, but why, you'd give up water tightness. 3. The last item is the electrical connector. I've never seen one like this, but it seemed to want me to press the wire into a very small plug that seemed to use a system like the old "backstabber" receptacles, but I was using 12/2 romex (Southwire 25 ft. 12-2 Gray Solid UF-B W/G Wire)(SKU # 666630 for a 25' roll $18.07) and the conductors were just too big for the provided plug. No problem, snip, snip, and 2 wire nuts solved the problem. All these modifications probably sound like a pain, but I am somewhat talented home handyman and I'd bet that I can complete the above modifications in well under 5 minutes per unit, and as you can see the cost will be around $6.00 for the first one, and about $0.25 for the next 10 or so. The picture that I've provided doesn't do justice to the amount of illumination. Looking forward to grilling steaks on the barbie with enough light to see what I am doing.

Nice and Brght, Seals Tight, Installs Easy
I've been converting all the lights in my garage to LED and this vapor tight light is an excellent fit for hanging over the part of the garage where I work on cars. No worries of a small spray ruining the light or worst case sparking and catching fire. This is a direct wire install and you'll need to supply your own wiring from your power source. I simply attached a grounded supply cord and plugged it into the same switched outlets all my other lights use. Wiring is easy, it has push lock connectors for the black and white wires and a wire nut for the ground. Wiring takes less than 10 minutes. If needed, these can be chained together, just pop off the knockouts on the end. This also has hangers included that snap tightly on the back of the fixture and allow you to hang this with rope or chain. The fixture is plastic, as well as the lens. The lens snaps on with ten snap clips. Easy on, easy off. It's sealed with a full length gasket. The LEDs are in twin strips of surface mount lights on a metal carrier. Current draw is 43 watts, providing 3600 lumens in the bright white color scale. Its a very nice light, plenty bright, I love the bright white color temp, not that yellowish glow other conventional lights have. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for new or replacement lighting for vapor sensitive locations.

    Led vapor vs conventional
I ordered this light from homedepot site for its water and moisture resistance. When I got it took about 25 minutes to place it together and wire it in And then judged it comparing existing my two mercury vapor lights to this one vapor led And found this light out lit the other two. All plastic body and LEDs have a good thin metal heat sink to keep them cool I recommend this light for warehouses, basements, parking garages(hallways), Work shops and more. Now I'd like to see this light come in a 2700k currently 4000k

    Nicely made, bright!
Installation required wiring that is not provided. I used a cord with a grounded plug on the end and wired that into the fixture, then plugged it into an outlet mounted in the ceiling. The fixture itself is well made and easy to hang. The light is bright and provides good coverage. Suitable for wet locations, it's ideal in a damp basement or for use in a barn, etc.

    Great for my storage shed
My storage shed is mostly dry, but occasionally gets a bit of rain intrusion. This light fits the bill perfectly. I'm using it as a garden bench light. See photo. I didn't have any issues with the connections. There was only one hole, and the included connector had a very good "iris" type system that sealed very well. I attached a grounded cord to the unit, but you can also hard wire it. If I had any problems with this, it would be that the "orange connector" is not well documented in the instructions or outside of the box. The best way to connect would be through one of these connectors, but I'm guessing most DYIers don't have them handy. It isn't a major issue, you can simply clip off the connector and use regular wire nuts. Still, I would like to see better directions, although it ultimately isn't much different than a traditional strip fluorescent. Finally, the included hardware works fine to attach or hang the light.

    Bright light! Vapor tight!
This light is great, I'm getting another one so it will seem like daytime in my garage at all hours of the night! My garage previously had two standard bulbs (one fixture on each end, left to right) and with 60 watt bulbs in each you can see how much brighter this light is in the pictures attached. When working on my bike I would have to turn on a halogen work light just to see what I'm doing but now I don't need to because this light is so bright and also provides a neutral (center of the spectrum) light temp that is much less yellow than the incandescent bulbs were. Since my garage has an 18" beam going across, one side gets more light than the other (front to back), so with one more of these lights my entire garage (25'x25') will seem like daytime, which is exactly what I'm going for. The best part is that this light uses less energy than the old bulbs. The plastic housing is lightweight and sturdy and contains a rubber gasket to keep the moisture out. The wire outlet has a locking wire nut that tightens around the wire as you turn it which makes it vapor resistant. There are also slugs on the opposite side of the fixture that you can pop out to connect another light, but you would need to buy another locking wire nut to keep moisture out of that side. The hardware pack comes with two brackets which can either be hung from an eye-hook or screwed directly to the ceiling or wall. The fixture simply clicks into these brackets and can also be removed from them easily. The wiring harness provides for simple insertion of the wires. Just push them in all the way and they hold just fine. There's no need to remove the connectors! This is great light and since it's really bright, moisture resistant and energy efficient I have to recommend it!

    Well constructed, bright fixture
For a damp area, this is as good as it gets Well constructed housing keeps everything tight and dry There a rubber gasket surrounding the diffuser with the housing that is clipped on tight with numerous buckles There is a lot of thought put into the design. Everything is attached into one and nothing will fall apart when installing. The old adage is a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link, and the link needs to be a good water tight Romex clamp connector. Without that, all moisture will seep its way into the housing and cause damage to the system. Do not skimp on that Assembly is easy. All wiring connects with push in connectors

    Awesome! Tons of light!
I spend a good portion of my free time working on projects in the garage. Garages always seem to lack enough light. In previous homes I replaced the naked single bulb with fluorescent light strips but I always had to supplement light with an additional work light. Not knowing what to expect, other than it would be better than the dual 13w lights in my garage door opener, I installed one of these lights in the center of my 22x22 two car garage. Huge difference! I've attached a before and after shot and you can see how much more detail and light just one 4' strip added. I wired up a second one above my work bench and couldn't be happier. My only concern was how long these LEDs would last before they started to dim and found from various sources LEDs are expected to last x5 - x10 longer while using half the power of comparable CFLs so I expect these will last a long time and help offset their higher initial cost. Be advised that the electrical connections for this are a crimp style connector not a bare wire so plan accordingly. Because these are sealed lights there is a rubber grommet to run the wires through and doesn't install flush; there are no holes to run screws thru. Instead there are two metal clips that attach to the top that you can hang on ceiling hooks.

    Great Lights, But....
First off the "but"; the light has two access holes that are already open and there are no plugs supplied to close them. There is only one grommet supplied for the power entrance but there should be a plug supplied for the other hole if this is to be a single or end run light install. Now about the supplied orange wiring plug needs to have the terminal pins removed and crimped to the supply wires. These should have been in the hardware pack and they should have talked about how to crimp them to the wires. Now to the good part, these are very bright. I have some below zero temp rated florescent lights in my warm bay and these are noticeably brighter. These have a better pattern to the light distribution also and don't seem to create as many shadows. These are also suitable for wet locations. This is a big advantage since getting both vapor tight and wet location in another light that is this bright is very expensive. The fit and finish is very nice on these lights. The clear lens cover has ten clamps the hold this to the fixture. Once they are opened two remain connected to the cover to hold it in place. This is a great feature. There is a nice full perimeter gasket around the cover and base that really seals. There is an aluminum strip inside the light that holds two rows of LED's, the strip has two wing fasteners that hold it to the base, once these are unlocked the aluminum strip can be lowered and is held in place by two plastic retaining strips. This makes wiring a snap. Overall these are at least 30% brighter than a twin tube cold rated florescent. Plus these have zero warm up time and seem to provide 100% of their light as soon as they are turned on. This alone is a BIG advantage. Along with the power savings these are big winners in my book. Everything is included in the package minus hanger chains and a plug for the extra power entrance hole.

This is the one you need
I had the opportunity to evaluate this fixture. The fully sealed LED lamp is a dream to install. I used a cut homeowner type cord and plug because of the sealed plug and good wire size and knowing the lamp seal for electric is circular and seals well on this type of cordage.. Made life easy. The cover is well made and held to the seal edge with several nice clamps. Very sturdy. Connecting the electric is straightforward and the connections are supplied. The hang clips are snap on type and I like the design. I now look forward to garage lighting that is bright( greater than standard fluorescent 48" shoplights). I also will not see the notorious fluorescent flickering in cold weather either. Did I mention there can be no bugs in the unit? no inside the cover cleaning rates high with me. I like the idea of hanging a light that is supposed to last DECADES. This is the one you need. Energy efficient too at half the watts of the standard shoplight. As a addendum I ordered one for myself that will be used in my all season outside pergola.

These fixtures work great in exterior and interior warehouse areas. We have about 20 of the fixtures installed. The closed design of the fixture prevents cobweb build up around the bulbs. I even installed them in my home garage.
