Plenty of power and the 3Ah battery is more than enough to handle my 2-acre property.

Love the trimmer but, string head self-destructing
The trimmer is awesome. Easy to use, quiet, light weight. Battery 3Ah (60V) - at full charge, run time is about 45 minutes cutting weeds and bushes. We have large acreage so we purchased a second battery. However, after using this great tool for 8 hours, over several days, the string head is self destructing - see photos. As far as we can tell the plastic is not resilient enough to withstand the designed use. I plan to contact DeWalt for replacement as we have only had the unit two weeks.

    Initial 25 min usage review.
this thing rips pretty good, 25 minutes of use and only went through 1/3 of battery. the dewalt string it comes with is really thin, cuts nicely but isn't very strong. gaurd seems to be doing a good enough job, overall happy with my purchase, will update if anything changes.

Best on the market in my opinion
I love this blower and I promise you will too. Replaced a gas power bag pack blower and did not even make me regret it.

ok but the string head doent last long
So i purchased this 2 years ago used one season and noticed the head was completely wore out. I used it once a week for 4 months. My gas powered weed eater head has lasted for 10 years and this one bearly one season? I retuned it to home depot and got another one with an exchange. Thought maybe it was a flaw. But nope, the second one did the same thing. Very poor qualiry on this part. Dewalt should provide a mfg defect warranty for this part. The overall weed eater is great. I can change the trim wire fast the charge is decent and i can do my entire half acher in one charge. I bought a new head Dw01dt995 hopefully it lasts.

I ran a small landscaping company for a few years, and mowed 15 yards every weekend, using Stihl blower and trimmer. This trimmer outperforms my FS55R in large tall weeds by a longshot. Very powerful! This trimmer is perfect in nearly every way, except the autofeed head. For the average homeowner trimming down a few inches of grass, it probably works great. But the autofeed head advances far too much string too quickly when used in heavier foliage. This problem is EASILY solved by replacing it with a Husqvarna T35 bump feed spool head. It's a direct fit and the kit includes a plastic adapter washer that fits perfectly. Keep in mind the thread is left-handed, when you swap them out. With a bump feed head, this trimmer does everything I need it to do on my 37 acres! I have a large array of cordless Dewalt 20v and 60v tools, this is an excellent addition.

            Complete Garabage
I cannot figure out how to attach the power unit end to the string attachment end. They are the same diameter shafts and the sleeve does not seem to want to move. Also if this sleeve could move i do not than know how the inside shafts gets connected as the power end shaft is a few inches recessed and the attachment spleen not extending beyond the shaft. Dewalt you failed me. I called the 800 number although nice people they could not help with this matter.

*WARNUNG* Before Assembling Remove 1" diameter by 2.25" spacer gray plastic pipe from the ATTACHMENT CAPABLE POWER HEAD
Only took one trip back the Home Depot to discover the spacer tube in the trigger end of the assembly. Just grab ahold and wiggle a little bit to remove, then the String Trimmer attachment slides in an locks effortlessly. HAVE FUN, great trimmer.

                READ BEFORE BEING UPSET
I purchased it from a local homedepot and instructions are poor handle needs 4 small bolts to be loosened then taken apart and placed behind black middle piece then re tighten. Charge the battery while you assemble it by the way and then the plastic piece goes under the bar with dewalt facing you and tighten the head down all the way counter clockwise. Theres a small hole in the top of the bar stick the tool that came with it in there to stop the head from turning so you can tighten it up even more. It kept falling off because i didnt tighten it up enough. Really strong i would highly recomend it. It has plenty of power !!! I have gas ones too just was curious about this one definently worth it !

                  Upgrade
After struggling with my 23 year old heavy duty weed eater and almost throwing it over the bank I decided to go electric. I bought a 60volt DeWalt cordless weed eater from Home Depot last week. It definitely far exceeded my expectations. Light, quiet, plenty of power, accepts all the attachments I have for my other gas weed eaters and starts instantly. I just used it to trim what I typically do with the gas one and the DeWalt is still showing a full charge of 3 bars on the battery.

Absolute powerhouse! I have used gas powered string trimmers all my life and recently got two different string trimmers, one 18V and this DeWALT 60V. And lets just say the Flex-Volt battery truly makes this a competitor of gas trimmers! I love how wide the swath is and feel like I can get around the yard very quickly with it. Also the ability to make it a 17" swath is a great feature if you need to clear a lot of grass. I really like the design of the trimmer and although its much heaver than my 18V trimmer it makes up for it with how balanced it is and the fact that I can do my whole yard three weeks in a row and still have a full battery. Thats actually my favorite part of this tool, the 9AH battery, it lasts forever and I don't have to charge it every day or week. Other great features of the trimmer are how easy it is to reload it with new trimming line, the safety on the trigger that is so easy to engage yet very safe and the awesome support handle. The only flaw I could find with this trimer is that it doesn't come with a shoulder strap, but I am sure I can just find one and attach it myself, so thats not even close to a deal breaker to me. All in all I highly recommend this trimmer if you need a replacement for a gas trimmer or one that can power through large yards for weeks.

The Dewalt Flexvolt 60-volt MAX Lithium-Ion Electric Cordless string trimmer is full of features. The kit comes with a 60-volt 9AH Lithium-Ion Battery and a battery charger that will charge either the 20-volt or 60-volt Dewalt batteries. One of the many features of this trimmer is its high-efficiency brushless motor that will give you years of service. There is a high/low switch to quickly select the speed of the trimmer head to select either 4650 RPM or 5800 RPM. The on/off is controlled by a trigger which also has a safety lock to prevent accidental engagements. The cutting swath is 17 inches and the trimmer comes with one spool of 20 feet long 0.080” diameter trimmer line. It will also work using 0.095” diameter trimmer line. The spool head is fed by gently bumping the trimmer on the ground while running at normal speed and the line will feed. There is a cutter on the shield to keep the string from being too long. This tool also features the capability of attaching other universal attachments from Dewalt and other brands offering the universal capability. Dewalt offers edgers, hedge trimmer, chain saw, blower and other popular attachments. They are all easily changed. The fully assembled string trimmer is 70 1/2 inches long and weighs 14 1/2 lbs. It is well balanced when in use and weighs about the same as a gas-operated trimmer, without the noise. Dewalt has a 3-year limited warranty and 1-year free service on the tool. There is also a 3-year limited warranty and 3-year free service on the battery. The tool is made in Mexico. The charger is made in China, Thailand, or Vietnam. The battery is made in China, Japan, South Korea, or Malaysia. Accessories made in China.

After using the same gas powered weedwacker for 23 years I thought it was time to replace it and try out the new battery powered ones. I have many Dewalt tools and have no issues with them so choosing the Dewalt weedwacker that uses the same battery that I already use for other tools was a natural choice. This particular unit has the motor in the top by the handle and shaft drives the cutter head so you can add other tools onto it in the future if you’d like. I liked having that option for down the road if needed. Assembly was quick and easy taking less then 5 minutes. I left the string cut blade at the 15” setting, but it can also be moved outward for a 17”. The unit felt perfectly balanced in my hands despite the motor and large battery being mounted at the top. I put the 3ah @ 60v (sometimes also called a 9ah@ 20v) battery on the charger. It took less then 2 hours to be fully charged. I took it outside the next day and used it to trim along the chain link fence surrounding my property. The unit had no power issues cutting through fairly thick weeds and the supplied string lasted pretty long even against the chain link. The bump head was very smooth and worked flawlessly every time. Much better then my troublesome old gas unit. I got halfway through my yard and realized I had it on the low speed setting. I was very surprised how much power it had on low. I switched it to high and boy did it spin faster! It ended up being too fast for my needs. I was quickly covered in grass clippings from the waist down!! I switched it back to low and finished up. My 1/3 acre lot took about 20 minutes to trim and I used only one bar on the battery. I must say, I’m very impressed with the quality and power of this unit and recommend you try it out. Especially if you already have Dewalt tools.

This string trimmer is great. It has plenty of power to do the yard work around my house. Mine came packaged with the 9 amp hour battery for lots of capacity. The line cutter can be positioned in two different places making this trimmer have either a 15” or 17” cutting swath diameter. The unit is lightweight and very easy to use. It has a two speed switch so that you can run high or low depending on the demand of the situation. Some minor assembly needs to happen before this trimmer is ready to go. The cutter shield needs to be installed and the auxiliary handle needs to be installed. All hardware and the appropriately sized allen key are included. Assembly should take less than five minutes. Once assembled, the string trimmer attachment gets connected to the power head. This step doesn’t require tools. Just remove the protective cap from the trimmer and the plastic sleeve from the power head before the two components are linked up. Check my photos for details. Align the index marks and slip the two pieces together. Tighten up the knob and you are almost ready to go. Make sure there is line in the trimmer head and slide on a charged battery. This thing has plenty of power and the bump feed action on the spool acts as it should. I recommend this tool. I’m glad that it has the power of a gas trimmer without having to mess with gas and 2-stroke mix and gummed up carburetors. This trimmer is quiet too. I recommend this trimmer.

First off i will freely admit i am a huge Dewalt fan. So when i saw the opportunity to get this trimmer i jumped at it. So the unboxing and assmbly instructions leave much to be deisired. There is a transport cover that it on the battery the sticker shows it sliding back. I couldn't get it off. Well its simple but sometimes not so evident. You have to press the release button the battery just like if you were removing from a tool. The other not so obvious thing. They put a green sleeve inside the shaft. That has to be removed to assembly the attachment. Its seems obvious now but not so much at the time. Other than that it was pretty straight forward. Its fairly heavy but has good balance. I am not sure if there is a weight saving vs my gas powered trimmer. Its still early in new england for lawncare but i cant wait to give it a go. Hopefully Dewalt comes out with some cool attachments

This is a GREAT, easy to use and powerful weed trimmer by DEWALT. Nicely balanced and not too heavy even with the battery anyone should be able to use this. It’s from their Flexvolt collection and you can easily switch out the trimmer for other tools like a hedge trimmer, blower etc and it comes with a 60v lithium battery and charger. Assembly was easy and quick by removing all packing material and attaching the trimmer base to the main unit by inserting and twisting lock key(make sure to remove the small grey tube before inserting!) and attaching the line guard and handle. Let the battery fully charge(takes @30-40 mins) and start attacking those weeds and grass. It has 2 speeds-low and high and you can easily toggle between the 2 with one finger while using it. There is a safety mechanism which requires you to depress the top handle first by pushing forward a slide latch and then the second handle to start the motor. The harder you press the second handle determines the speed at which the trimmer head spins. This is a great feature for when you want to do precise edging or lighter cutting using the lower speed setting and the higher for aggressive cutting and weed/grass removal. Imho,it is very easy to maneuver and flip to get the best angle for trimming. It uses .80 feed line and has the standard bump and feed line output. It has a quick load spool that you simple line up the top and bottom white lines which aligns the 2 holes to create a tube for your new trimmer line to go thru(you can put up to 15-20 feet of line). Then pull the line thru and make them equal lengths and hold the bottom portion with the notches and turn the upper portion clockwise to turn the line onto the spool inside. You can also easily access the inner spool by depressing the 2 notches on the sides to release the spool cover. It is recommended to use only round line vs angular for problem free trimming. The overall length is @6ft and I’m not a tall dude but can easily maneuver and handle this with no problem and was able to get beautiful precise cuts and edging. There may be a little learning curve until you are comfy with it,but for me it was very short and felt like I used it for a long time. Being able to adapt with other accessories makes this a truly beneficial and useful tool in the yard and garden arsenal. Backed with the Dewalt name it will last a long time and will be used over and over again. Would make a GREAT gift for anyone or even as an unexpected new home gift that is useful.

This thing is SWEET!! I've been looking around and thinking about replacing my 2-cycle string trimmer. I came across this Dewalt Flexvolt 60-volt trimmer. This trimmer is well balanced, very quiet and works like a charm when it comes to those weed-whacking jobs. The Flexvolt Lithium-ion battery can be used in both 60-volt and 20-volt tools and uses the regular 12/20-volt Dewalt charger. The head unit can also be used for several other optional attachments such as a leaf blower, hedge trimmer, etc. that are sold separately. And no more mixing gas and oil!

The Dewalt flexvolt 60-volt max lithium-ion electric cordless attachment capable string trimmer is a great trimmer. The trimmer arrived well boxed and required minimal assembly. The trimmer is so easy to use and this cordless feature adds to the ease of trimming. The battery system is a great innovation of a 60 volt lasts long enough to complete 1 hour+ of trimming while you have the ability to use the 20 volt on other Dewalt tools. The interchangeable 20-60 volt works on a variety of tools. The line is a bump line. This is a trimmer that I highly recommend.

The Dewalt tools I use for construction are probably a little noisier than average, but they are very, very durable. Therefore, I decided to try my first Dewalt yard tool, this Dewalt Hedge Trimmer. I haven’t used a string trimmer much, but we just moved to a home with acreage. I used the string trimmer to clear a path along the fenceline up the hill to a clearing where we can sit and enjoy the view. It was the right tool for the job. I ordered this cordless one because, although my husband has an old, corded string trimmer, our 100ft extension cord was nowhere near long enough to reach the end of the path, and I didn’t want to drag out our generator. I am attaching a photograph comparing the two trimmers. The Dewalt trimmer is a lot longer and narrower than the old one even though it cuts a wider circle (17”). I am 63” tall. This trimmer is 70” long. However, it is really easy to carry. I attached the front handle so that the center of gravity is between the two handles, biased toward my left hand. Now the tool is perfectly balanced. It is very easy to hold and carry. It doesn’t feel heavy. I measured all the parts before assembling the trimmer; the total is almost 13 pounds. The extra length also keeps the cutting cable far away from my legs and ankles which I like a lot. The shield is smaller than the old one, but I think that is because the old one has a wheel on the shield for use in the vertical position as an edger (the Dewalt has a separate attachment for edging.) The small shield might create a wider spread of debris, but I didn’t care about debris while defining my walking path. The Dewalt trimmer did fling a few tiny bits of decomposed granite toward my head, but so did the old one. I always wear glasses and long pants when using a string trimmer. I also have a face shield I can use when trimming near gravel. This one easily cuts a wide swath through tall grass. Using it is quite satisfying. You need to bump the Dewalt on the ground to advance the cable occasionally; whereas, the old one is supposed to spool out the cord automatically (I am not sure how that works). Banging the trimmer on the ground might shorten the life of the cable assembly, but I expect it to last at least a few seasons because Dewalt tools are always very sturdy. Assembly is pretty simple: 4 screws to mount the handle and 2 screws for the guard, but the instructions are not very clear. They don’t mention that you have to remove three plastic parts used for shipping. The battery has a red plastic shield covering the contacts. This is pretty obvious because it is bright red and has a sticker that says REMOVE. There is also a black plastic cap covering the end of the string end of the wand that is easy to remove. However, it took me a while to figure out that you have to remove a 3” length of plastic pipe stuffed in the end of the motor assembly before you put the wand into the handle. After I pulled on the tube, it was pretty obvious. I mean, I feel kind of stupid, but that little piece of plastic pipe really looked like part of the tool. It would be better if it was brightly colored and/or had a sticker like the shipping brace on the battery. I tried to put the wand over the end of the silly little plastic tube before realizing that it is just part of the packaging. Therefore, if you are reading this, pull the pipe out of the end of the motor unit. That way you won’t have to feel stupid like me. Also, push the button to lock or unlock the battery while attaching or removing it from the charger or the tool. I am also impressed by the FlexVolt battery. It looks like there are a lot of tools in the FlexVolt family, including more attachments for the motor included with this string trimmer. I plan to order the pole saw attachment as soon as it becomes available. However, I already have a cordless hedge trimmer, and I don’t have a lawn so I won’t need the edge trimmer attachment.

OK so at the end I have the 2 small reasons I deducted a star. But the positives FAR outweigh the shortcomings. In addition to the impressive build and quality materials the string head has the newest & simplest method to load the line. Cut a piece of string, align the arrows, insert ½ the length straight through the case and twist the bump knob to get the line in. No more taking apart, losing springs, washers and patience. It’s well balanced and powerful with 2 speeds. My run time on a full charge was about 40 mins and the battery was down just 1 bar (see picture) so that was great. My last one would usually need a battery change ¾ of the way through. It was a great tool to use. I can't comment on its’ long-term durability. My 2 negatives are; (1) instructions are poorly laid out (diagrams on pgs 1&2 and instructions begin on pg 8 so you constantly need to flip back and forth) and horribly confusing, it never mentioned the cap at the end of the trimmer pole. It also did not mention whether to leave the lose piece of plastic in the end of the power pole (I discarded it). Honestly it was easier to ditch the instructions and wing it. The second “issue” (2) the handle utilizes a clap that is smooth on the inside to attach to a smooth pole so it twists/rolls slightly. Like I said, these shortcomings do not overshadow performance this cuts better than any other electric String Trimmer I’ve owned

                    Terrible Quality Assurance!
I've been waiting for a Dewalt cordless lawn tool that was universal-attachment ready. So when I saw this was available in the store I bought it right away. I was highly disappointed when I went to assemble it. I found multiple problems with this item. For one, there is no hole to attach the string trimmer to the main power head! Someone forgot to drill a hole there, and somehow it made it past QA! Second, there was plenty of RUST inside the trimmer head shaft! Now I’m not a Dewalt engineer, but I’m pretty sure RUST isn’t the lubricant they originally chose for this tool. This has been a very frustrating day for me as a heavily-invested Dewalt customer. In addition to this, I had to return the just-purchased 2x20v Brushless Push Lawn Mower because of missing parts! I was hoping to spend my day trying out all this new equipment but I was too busy returning it and discovering problem after problem! Come on Dewalt! Where is your QA department???

I love this Dewalt flexvolt cordless string trimmer. The trimmer is easy to carry and the rechargeable battery last a long time. The trimmer seems to be of good quality and it seems pretty quiet while running it. The color is vibrant and just simply a great tool for the yard!

                        Terrible battery length, good power.
The blower itself moves alot of air and was very powerful. Battery life is terrible. Bought it from local home depot on Saturday charged it full and it didn't last. Thought maybe I didn't really charge it fully and never really timed it. So Sunday morning put it on the charge and made sure fully charged as battery light indicated it was. The battery lasted 11 minutes and 52 seconds before it cut out. On full strength. Let's be honest who is not using full power when blowing leaves. Basically enough time to sweep my front porch and back deck. If that's all its good for save your money and buy a sweeper blower that will do exactly what this does in the same time frame for a fraction of the cost. This will be returned on Monday. Blower quality good battery power terrible.

Nowhere does it say you CANNOT use a 20v battery!
I looked very carefully at the online description and read every word on the carton. Everywhere it advertises 20v compatibility. So I bought it figuring I would slowly upgrade like I did with my now 20v system. When my 20v would not fit, I reread the box and every word in the instructions - nothing! I had to dive to page 3 on Q&As to find out all that 20v compatibility stuff was about everything BUT actually using a 20v on the machine. SO NOW I'M GOING TO GO SPEND $220 ON A 2ND BATTERY? You can't operate a machine with no backup battery. So my Sunday evening project is dead and I'm kinda screwed. Now, when I can get back to Depot, Dewalt's going to get an unsellable $270 blower (I banged it around a bit until the 60v battery died). My job is writing packaging for name brand products sold at Depot. A small "Machine not compatible with 20v batteries" should have been on the carton - UNLESS they are trying to coerce me into upgrading before I planned to. BAD experience with a tool I formerly liked.

Already had the flexvolt 60v trimmer so decided to give this a shot. First time using it it only lasted about 10 minutes and was disappointed. Noticed after charging again it was only charging 1 of the three green lights and saying it was completely charged. Brought the charger inside from the garage and was then able to charge the battery full. Last time I used it was able to blow the front and back yard and still had over half the battery left. Also like the variable speed trigger! All in all very satisfied.

amazing and problem solved about the battery
When i opened the box i was surpised that the battery its a 9Ah not 3Ah and the charger that comes with it don’t charge it completly, i left it overnight charging and just one light so i charged it with the fast charger and was fully charged, i can feel the power.
