This pour on finish left a glass smooth high gloss finish on a piece of cherry wood that would have been hard to duplicate with a convention brush on or spray finish. The depth would have been difficult to achieve with conventional finish and would have taken many single coats to achieve. Before applying, be sure the piece you wish to finish is clean, and remove all sanding dust with a tack rag to prevent any flaws.

I did like using this top coat. It was very easy to use, and the idea of just pouring it on straight out of the bottle really was appealing to me. I was kind of surprised that you don't have to shake it up before applying it but it went on smooth and like it says it was self leveling. I've only used this on one project so far. I was just finishing a doll bed for my God-daughter and this I thought was perfect for a nice shiny finish. I will show a couple pictures. You should avoid moving your project around till it is done drying I did mine outside and let it dry out in the sun and it turned out great. For my bed I poured it on the flat bottom and the flat underside and looks perfect. I did not pour a second coat as this first coat seemed to be enough. I had to let it dry almost all day, maybe i put it on too thick, and didn't touch it until the following day, but it was all good to go after that. The bed was painted white with an acrylic paint and the surface was cleaned and dry then I applied the top coat . I did like the fact that it had no odor at all and cleaned up very easily with soap and warm water. This is a water based clear high gloss product that says it is non-yellowing which is what I was looking for. I also brushed it on the other areas of the bed because I glued some decals on as well and I thought the top coat would seal these so they stay on forever. So far I like what I see and the way it feels.

DecoArt's clear pouring top coat is a very high-gloss clear acrylic. Completely transparent and made in the USA. It is ideal to use on canvases, wood panels and other flat art surfaces. Is designed to be poured over a dry painted surface. After pouring over surface, tilt surface as to coat surface evenly to prevent pooling. A palette knife or brush should be used to accomplish this task. 16 ounce bottle covers a 4 foot square surface. The acrylic is water based, non-yellowing, self leveling with soap and water cleanup.

The fluid was solid. I had to return it and realized all of these bottles were solid and useless. I let the store know. This was not the first time that I have had problems with their paint and stains.

    Hate this product!
Too thick and messy. Sets too quickly and can’t use a brush or palette knife once it begins to harden because you will tear it. Had to peel it all off due to tumors forming while drying.

Overall the finished product came out well and this product left a nice high gloss shine, but I also felt it was very difficult to use for a person on their first time attempt. The item dried in about a day and did leave a nice heavy gloss, but the directions tell you leave the item at a 45 degree angle over night. This left a big clumpy pile of the gloss at the bottom that then stuck to the newspaper I used to dry on, which I then had to use a utility knife to separate. Hopefully it will go a little smoother next time around, as the finished product came out well.

As part of my woodworking hobby - I make clocks. I use barn wood, walnut, oak, cedar, etc. This clear coat is very similar to epoxy type coatings - except no mixing of harsh chemicals, no sensitivity to mixing temperature and all the other hassles that used to go along with a great, crystal clear finish. It's also great for embedding coins, sea-shells, etc. I recommend you give it a try.

I used this for the first time and it seems to work well.Pretty easy just pour it and let it run over the edge. Seemed to level out well looks very shiny so far still waiting for it to cure completely. I would recommend doing this outside with a tarp or some type of drop cloth to catch the over flow. I still have about a half a bottle I plan on using for another project where I am going to try it a little thicker. If I can I will update my review.

While I wasn't 100% happy with the results, I'd still recommend it because I think with some tweeking to how it's applied could end up successful. The pros with this product vs. resin is it's easy to use. No mixing required like resin, and you get a resin-like result in the end. I was happy with the smooth, glossy finish that was achieved with a less than 24-hour dry time. It's similar to resin in that you pour it on and tilt your workpiece around to get it to spread evenly across it. I also used a palette knife to smooth it out. I followed the directions and the part that got weird for me was where it says to prop up the piece at a 45 degree angle and let it dry. The problem I have with this is that by doing so, all of the product runs down in one direction and not only ends up in a big puddle but it leaves drips all along the edge. Part of that edge ended up with clumps of dried topcoat and was attached to the puddle that dried. The puddle is also an indication of how much extra product gets wasted as it runs off. If I were to use this product again, I wouldn't use the 45 degree method. Maybe it'll take longer to dry, but I think I'd get better results on the edges. Also, if you're thinking about using this product in casting situations like you would resin, don't bother. I tried it with a small mold and the product just wouldn't dry. After 2 days it was still wet in the middle. I left a thin coating in one of the molds to see what that may turn into, but it's milky white consistency isn't like resin.

I used this to cover a decal I placed on a pub table that I use in my shop. Install was pretty easy...open the jar and pour it on the desired application! It pretty much self-levels after spreading around. Clean up around the edges was easy with a wet rag. I let it dry for a few hours then did the edge clean up. I then left it for a day and a half. When I checked it again it was dry, smooth, crystal clear, no bubbles and seems to be very hard. It will nicely protect the decal and keep it from peeling or getting damaged. Very happy with this product.

DecoArt's SIXTEEN OUNCE CLEAR POURING TOP COAT is a brilliant and wonderful, high gloss and transparent, clear, pour able top coat to perfectly finish off a range of art pieces in a high end looking, high gloss finish. The one step pouring top coat can be poured over the wood or canvas piece, and went the canvas is tilted the excess can be drained. The edges can be smoothed, and the piece dried, tilted, overnight, for a perfect finish. It can even have a second coat applied, if so desired.
