Echo power for the win.
Good power with echo reliability. Blasts through briars and thick brush. Starts super easy and has a big fuel tank. Way better than my old orange and white brush cutter.

I have used the echo 30.5 cc twice since it was purchased. Easy to start. Very easy to manipulate around my flower pen. Happy with the purchase. Good replacement for my 30 year old echo brush cutter, (fyi STILL runs like a top, for 30 minutes!)

    Go ECHO!
We have a large piece of property and this machine with the handle bars and harness vs. another one I own without the bars is a lot easier on the back especially when working for several hours at a time. Highly recommend this product. Thanks, ECHO!

SRM 3020 Weed Eater - very good tool
Lots of power to use on waist high weeds with the string head. Good gas consumption. Easy / always starts right up. Easy to re-load string. Gave it a 4 because - only occasional problem with line sticking or melting on the head - quick to remove head and rewind string.

Very easy to use (with purchased shoulder harness). Good gas consumption. Easy to reload string. String works well with waist high weeds (do have metal blades for exceptionally tough eeeds and small brush…easy to switch back and forth).

Used about 6 times over the past 2 weeks for ~10 hours of use so far. It replaced 2 Stihl fs131s that required a ton of maintenance and both lasted less than a year. So far the ECHO has matched the Stihl in performance. The only issue so far is that cut material tends to clog up between the blade and the shield requiring frequent pauses in order to manually clear the material. This unit is primarily used to cut tall and thick grasses such as mature Guinea, Johnson, and Cane.

The Echo 30.5 cc Gas Trimmer Brush Cutter arrived with minor damage to a plastic cowl on the engine even though the box was undamaged. Trimmer itself works great and would have gotten a 5 if it had been better package inside the box for shipping.

The equipment works really well. It was a bit complicated to put it together. And the accessory blade (shown on the home depot website) for brush cutting would not fit. I returned it and had to order it online - only 2 10-inch blade fits this model. Because of these constraints I have a "Good" instead of "Excellent" rating. The box arrived damaged at the store (I did a store pickup) but fortunately the product inside was not damaged.

So far so good. Seems to cut through some thick stuff with a ntal blade on it. I’m waiting for the cheesy plastic clip that holds it to the harness to break. At this price point, even a cheap metal hasp would be an upgrade.

    Good strimmer
This is a really well made, solid engined unit. However, that power comes at a cost, as it is heavy to operate, and definitely needs an immediate upgrade to a much higher quality harness. Once that is done, it is fantastic to use. I cleared my unkempt one acre front yard (which was too waterlogged to allow use of my tractor) in a few hours. However, it has a fairly large fuel tank for good reason - it is thirsty with gas. Some other minor niggles are the shaft is really long, and thus you may need to unhitch the unit from the harness to tackle steep uphill strimming. Also, it takes a little while to get used to the engine kill switch not returning automatically to the run position, so you have to remind yourself to do that every time when restarting until it becomes 'muscle memory'. Major plusses are the usual awesome Echo power unit, which looks like it will last forever and starts first pull, and is tuned for much lower revs than smaller engined peaky strimmers. Also the ergonomics are good, given the caveat of needing an upgraded harness, whilst there is very little mechanical vibration passed through the handlebars. I'm 60+ years old and feel little fatigue, even after using it all day long. All in all, this is one seriously capable unit. Whilst seemingly expensive (around a thousand bucks when factoring in the extra cost of a more gucci replacement harness), nevertheless, you do always get what you pay for with Echo. Great design, with solid and dependable performance, backed up by a genuine five year warranty. I would definitely recommend this unit, and I'm glad that I have invested in it. Echo has got much more right than wrong here. Love it.

    Defective out of box
Received the trimmer, assembled it, put fresh premixed gas in it, started it up. It was kind of hard to start, but it started. However, it only runs with the choke open, as soon as you close the choke, it dies. I tried letting it run with the choke open for a few minutes to see if maybe it needs to warm up first. Nope, as soon as choke is closed, it dies. I ended up contacting Echo support about this issue, who told me if its within 90 days of purchase, it's the carburetor is under warranty. Only 90 days huh? I then contacted a local repair shop who said they are backed up 2.5 weeks before I can bring it in for repairs (this thing is brand new). They suggested I just return it to Home Depot, so I did that. Horrible support from Echo as well as bad quality control.

      Powerful and reliable trimmer/brush cutter
Powerful and well-made. Motor starts easily. I use it as a heavy duty string trimmer and have been very happy with its performance. It easily handles grass and weeds that would stop my previous trimmer. String replacement Is easy and manual (which is a plus). The trimmer head comes apart and reassembles easily to deal with tangled string etc. Criticisms: 1) the instruction manual was very poor regarding setting up the throttle linkage. 2) it is easy for the on off switch to become shorted where the wires from the switch connect to the wires from the motor. Under these circumstances opening the switch will not turn off the motor. This can be handled easily by using the choke to stop the motor as long as you think of it, but this connection should be made better. 3) The harness and its attachments work, but could be made better and easier to adjust.

      Srm 3020U
Growing organic coffee this is our weed control. I run weed wackers for about 60 to 80 hours monthly. Just spent my first day with this srm 3020U and it worked excellent. We will see how it's doing next year. That will be a worthy review. Aloha.

      Better than Stihl
I have used a Stihl trimmer for ten years. The Echo trimmer is much lighter and more balanced. I love the easy way to load the trimmer line without having to take it apart and wind line two different times around the spool like in the Stihl. The echo better protects me from flying debris. It starts easily and is easy on fuel. I have two echo chainsaws and a blower. I wouldn't have any other brand! Have never had any problems.

Lots of power but ergonomics are awful
I bought this several months ago to compliment / replace my aging Stihl FS110. Doing normal trimming, they perform the same but in heavy, thick, overgrown grass and undergrowth where full throttle has to be used, the Echo will take the Stihl's lunch money away and taunt him with it. Now for the complaint. The ergonomics of the handle bars don't even qualify as awful, for me anyway. I'm 5'8", 180 pounds. I can use the Stihl for 4-6 hours at a time with no problem. No matter how I adjusted the harness and bars, it would never get comfortable for me. So uncomfortable that after about 30 minutes or so, I was worn out and starting to get sore. I bought another set of handlebars and mount for a Stihl and adapted them to the Echo. Problem solved. I can now use the Echo all day with no problems.

Drive cable is the weak link
Are the other reviews real? How can they be? I used thess machines as a bushcutters (I have 2 of them) to take out privet and rosa multiflora. I also have a pair of older SRM266T models that were used in the same project (opening a disc golf course in Ft Washington State Park.) One could have been user error as one person who used it while the cable broke is a particularly dull bulb, but the other snapped cable happened when I was using the machine, meaning; The 3020 has now had 2 TWO snapped drive cables. While they are easy to replace, it is ridiculous to have to stop work! My two 266T's can still hum right along doing the SAME work with the SAME blades. These are renegade red hybrid blades for reference. I have had to make the 3020s ONLY forrester chainsaw blades. They just CANNOT handle the abuse of a real brushcutters tasks. Good power, and lighter, but not worth the cost!!

Great machine. A few suggestions for your R&D depa
I bought it a few weeks ago and I'm very happy. But I do have a few small design suggestions. The gearcase/trimmer head, there are some cases I found where grass got wedged in the top section of the head and inside. For weedeating I find if the head is like a Stihl FS110 where you can take it off from the top with the head tool that's easier if Tangled with weeds and the stock location is burried in grass.. The throttle/ignition switch handle U Model, if that could be made out of rubber along with or a slightly thicker trigger so your finger doesn't cramp up that would be more comfortable for using long hours without gloves, the left grip is why not the right one lol. The wire harness/throttle cable clips on the main pipe assembly. If those can be designed somehow so that they stay during thick brush cutting that'd be nice so they don't pop off and you never find them. Already lost both of mine. I'm not sure why this happened a few hours after I got it but the starter pawls are slipping randomly, not blaming anyone I don't understand what would make that happen on a brand new machine 4 hours after left the dealer.. After warmed up or running a half hour or so it grips fine. 50/50 when the first start. Overall I'm very happy easy starting runs like a race horse, easy simple maintenance, and legendary Echo quality. The Speed Feed head is a plus to no issues or taking the head apart to restring. Your Red Armor oil is the best choice for oil I love it burns clean and a very good odor.

Bought it to replace a Stihl FS131
Got it to replace a Stihl F131 that i am extremely disappointed with. The Echo out preforms the Stihl in all aspects including comfort. The only dislike is the strap. I bought the good harness snd all is good.
