Worked great on my Wood Wind chimes!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received some wind chimes as a gift, and they are always breaking due to the sun. I have tried several different glues to keep them in tact and nothing has kept them together. The Elmers Max Wood Glue so far has been a success and it has been a few weeks. Great stuff, not too strong smelling, and does not make my fingers sticky.

    TRULY WATER PROOF
Elmer's WoodGlue MAX is truly water proof. I took a piece of cedar and a piece of redwood and sloppily glued them together, about a 4 inch section of each end and left 10 inches overhanging each end for leverage to test strength. I glued and only pressed wood together by hand a few seconds and let set without clamping for about 4 hours. Then tried my best to break bond levering every way possible till I started splintering the cedar edges. OK it makes a strong bond, really strong. Then I plunked it right into a bucket of water & secured it under water for about 12 hours, then tried to separate them every way possible again. No way was the glue joint going to give while wet and this is only about 19 hours after I glued them. I let it air dry and sun dry in our 95 temps at about 10% humidity for 2 days then tried breaking bond again. No way!!! Staining was another story. I tried to show in photo. I deliberately smeared glue on cedar and after all the above testing I sanded it down to about level and used a top quality brand name wood stain in golden oak. Rubbed it in well twice & wiped it off. It doesn't look like it took the stain to me. You can see the wood is light where the excess glue is. I am sure it will paint fine but might show a slight texture difference. Will probably work great on stained projects if you are not a sloppy as I deliberately was.

    Trusted brand - works great
I love old architectural fragments and antiques, and enjoy revitalizing them and displaying them in my home. Sometimes they are fragile and need a little TLC. This wood glue is perfect for repairing loose or detached areas without drilling or using nails or screws (which can splinter or damage old wood). I reattached a section on this corbel - can you even tell? I find this trusted brand works well, dries clear, and holds heavy weights. Just what I need for every wood project.

Just as good as the old stuff
I've used Elmer's Wood glue for as long as i can remember for all of my wood projects. It's strong, sturdy, and bonds really well. And as long as you manage your drips, you'll have a perfect finish everytime. Enter the WoodGlue MAX. I've placed it next to an older bottle of the glue so you can see the difference. In appearance, it is a shade darker, but not by much. Additionally, it is a tiny bit more viscous, but barely noticeable. And as you can see on the packaging, it has all of the same great qualities of the original wood glue, but with one extra: Resists Heat, Mold & Mildew. Honestly, i've never had a problem with any of those affecting a wood project of mine, and i've had many in the past. But i guess it's better, right? As for application, the bottle has the same tried and true tip as always, allowing for a nice and even flat stream of glue exactly where you want it. So what's the verdict? From my limited experience, it's as good as the original. And if the claim is that it has been improved, then even better! To summarize, if you like working with the original Elmer's Wood Glue, then you'll be just as pleased with their new product.

One of my favorite glues, be careful with shipping it
**I'm writing this review based on my experience with Wood Glue Max - not the bottle I received via Fedex. Unfortunately the bottle I received showed up frozen. It's really a crapshoot to use glue that has been through a freeze and thaw cycle, but after thawing I could tell this glue had chalked and is no longer usable. I would recommend this as in in-store purchase if you live in a cold climate** I think this is the best type 1 PVA glue on the market. I would buy it a lot more often if I could get it locally (see above reasoning) in gallon sizes. My wife and I do a lot of woodworking. We make a few hundred cutting boards a year. The durability of our cutting boards owes itself in a large part to the glue used. We really need 3 properties: 1 - Open time. Some of the cutting board designs are really complex. It takes a few minutes to arrange everything before applying clamping pressure. Glues with long open times are really important. I've found with wood glue max, you are really safe for about 5 to 6 minutes. The glue barely has any tack beyond the initial hydraulic tack when applied. This is awesome 2 - Waterproof. This glue is waterproof above grade. It's safe for those outdoor projects as well. 3 - Safe for indirect food contact. This glue is As far as the claims on the bottle - they are mostly accurate. It is definitely strong. I haven't done any official strength tests, but once clamped and cured, it holds and it's permenant. It's also a little on the thicker side. I like this a lot. Especially with complex glue-ups that take time to arrange, the glue doesn't simply slide off. It has a good initial tack as well. As far as being stain-able, I would say absolutely not. Yes, stains, finishes, and paints will adhere to it. However if you don't clean up all the squeeze out and any amount of glue is left on or in the wood to be stained/finished, it will be very obvious. It's not as an extreme of a difference as some glues, however it is no where close to being transparent to finishes like hide glue is. It does sand/scrape much easier than titebond III (it's competitor). Titebond III dries rock hard. Wood glue max isn't - even after 24 hours. It's a lot easier to remove any squeeze out. This is a big plus Overall I would say this is my favorite PVA glue, and in my opinion the best type 1 PVA on the market. When I need long open time or something waterproof, I'm going to use Wood Glue Max. Try it if you haven't. You'll like it a lot.

            ELM Wood Glue
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the ELM 4oz Max Wood Glue in exchange for my honest review and I'm so happy I did. I usually use a different wood glue and I probably wouldn't have bought ELM Wood Glue if I couldn't have tried it first as I usually tend to stay with the same product. This ELM Wood Glue has by far exceeded my exceptions. It doesn't get hard in the bottle after it has been open and this glue sticks better than my other glue . Thank you ELM ,you are now my favorite glue.

                Great hold
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have used Elmer's Wood Glue Max for some furniture that we were re-purposing for our home. We also used it on a kitchen chair that needed help and it's good as new now. The hold is wonderful and much better than previously bought wood glues. Would absolutely recommend.

                  Works as advertised!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First time using this brand for wood specific applications. Was easy to apply, set in accordance with packaging timeline; cleanup was easy and hassle free. Bonded my material well, dried to an tannish color and sanded down without incident. Will use again on my next project.

                    It’s Elmer’s!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was raised by a wood working father that made many beautiful items including roll top desks, grandmother clocks, and many other items of furniture. My dad died last year at 95, but I will always remember his glue choice while working with wood, Elmer’s! And it will always be my brand. Buy Elmer’s.

                        Works perfectly!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this wood glue because I have been redoing some dresser drawers and they needed a little extra security added to them. This glue works perfectly and easily! A little goes a long way and I dries quickly (for a wood glue).

So far, so good! I used this to mend a broken leg on an antique desk which has unfortunately been poorly repaired several times in the past. Followed the directions, applied this. Could not clamp it but did let it sit for 48 hours. It's holding up well so far, after a week.
