It seems that CPVC pipe is becoming very popular because it's suited for hot and cold water. I have used regular PVC primer and glue with no problem, but that was several years ago. The orange CPVC glue is specially formulated for this pipe. Researching it, the general consensus is that PVC glue will eventually fail. The orange glue is about the same price, and certainly not worth of risk of flooding the house. Just a note: CPVC is not the same size as PVC and the fittings do not interchange.
This 3/4 inch CPVC CTS slip to slip coupling is used to connect two pieces of CPVC or PVC pipe that do not have threads. The inside of the coupling has a stop to insert to the correct length. Cut the pipe to be connected to the desired length and de-bur and smooth the end of the pipe. Apply purple primer to the end of the pipe and inside of the coupling and if the job is inspected the inspector will know you did it correctly and used primer. Then apply PVC cement to the end of the pipe and inside of the coupling and immediately insert them together and turn 1/4 turn. Do the other side of the coupling and pipe the same way. This is a premium quality fitting
Pros: Easy to Install, No Leaks, premium quality cpvc

Great product, just as described. Just can't use them because I was looking for 1/2 inch straight couplings. These are 1/2 inch straight couplings ... exactly the same size 1/2 inch as my pipe. Oh well.
