Ladder is well constructed, but instruction for installation was terrible.

Packaging was excellent. Build Quality was excellent. Installed as expected. Operation is impressive. If I add one to the garage, this will be it.

This ladder was certainly an upgrade over the 40+ year old ladder in our house however, I think there's a flaw in the design. After many emails back and forth with Fakro support the conclusion is that the ladder door board is not made to be flush with the ladder frame. The instruction, however, say to install the ladder frame flush with the ceiling. If you do this the door board sits down a half inch lower than the ceiling. Apparently this is just the way this ladder is supposed to be installed. Obviously if you knew this going in you could have your installer mount the frame above ceiling height so that the door is flush with the ceiling. Then you could trim the frame tighter. The ladder itself is very well built and other than the above design flaw I'd recommend it fully. Honestly, I can't believe they didn't design this ladder for the board to be flush with the frame. Even if Fakro admitted the ladder had a design flaw and sent me a new one I'd still be on the hook another $500 to install it. Very frustrating. And for a $600+ ladder there should be no flaws like this.

I had this professionally installed. It is heavy their three person crew did fine. Cutting the truss to install was no problem. I love the quality and the handrail and most importantly the width for ease in accessing the space. Insulated and fire resistant all factored. I recommend it. It comes with a quality metal pull down rod so I am returning the optional rod I also bought.

This is a really nice ladder, I have installed many non fire rated ones and this is much better by far. The one thing to remember is its about 92 pounds, so not easy to install by yourself.

Very sturdy, solid product with smooth hydraulics when opening and closing. Huge improvement over our old aluminum/spring type ladder.

This ladder is really well made and is very easy to operate. I wantwd a ladder that I could use for my garage attic for easy frequent access. Unfortunately, most attic ladder doors are not fire rated. This ladder is more pricey than others but i can assure you its absolutely worth it. It feels premium when opening closing are walking up amd down

Special ordered the fire rated attic ladder. Picked up the ladder from Home Depot without any problems. Installed and am pleased with the quality of the unit. Needed 10ft. 4in. so I had to build a base plate to make up the extra 3in. Biggest complaint, unit had two different length springs shipped with the unit. One goes on each side of the ladder. Unit has different attachment points for the springs but no instructions at all on which spring goes to which side or anchor location. Called and emailed the manufacture and never heard back. Rigged it up based on my experience and it works great. Very pleased with the product. Totally unhappy with the lack of response from the manufacture.

I am very pleased with these stairs. I needed a fire rated unit for code requirements in my garage. This unit is well built. It is expensive, but there were no other options for a fire rated set. Installing took some ingenuity. After framing out the opening. I hung a block and tackle from an attic rafter and hoisted the unit up and into the attic. Then bolted a few angle irons to the bottom of the opening and lowered the stairway unit down and the irons temporarily supported it flush and in place. Bolted the unit in and removed the irons. It helped of course that I was able to exit the attic through an existing access in the house that is now closed up. I was pleased with the outcome.

Heavy and directions not the best (pictures and little explanation) But once installed by 2 adults with occasional help of a third, looks and functions well.

Contractor installed it; overall good quality. The edges of ladder segments are a bit sharp and can damage the attic door. Slow retraction would be good feature for the door

Very well built, very high quality overall

I find the product to be very well made. However being that it was a 1000.00 investment, I have a few negatives. First there was minor chipping of the wood frame. Being it’s so heavy it should be better packet in its box. Due mostly to the weight of this product, The installation is difficult which would have been 100% Easier if they included the installation kit / leveler which would be great. In the end they were really the only manufacturer that had one in a fire rated design.

Perfect for the need. Fireproof rating was needed for a garage installation. Cartoon installation instructions were interesting but worked well.

For a 7’ ladder the see lower price in cart is just hilarious, paying a hundred dollars a foot is something. Theres nothing special about it either, no special wood type, no carved designs, no insulation just supports 50 more lbs for 620 more bucks more.

I installed this in my attached garage. It is incredibly solid compared to other ladders I have used in the past. The white finish on the outside looks great. It was a little challenging to install using ropes to get flush instead of boards underneath

This is a much higher quality attic ladder than most. Strong, sturdy, easy to work with. The fire rated ceiling panel does not need to be painted, it has a nice white finish on it.

It is a good quality ladder.

Easy to install, and had great instructions. I wanted to spend more money to get better insulation, but this is just a quality product in general. No regrets.
