120-VOLT 140 AMP EASY WELD FC-I FLUX CORE GASLESS WELDER by Fourney Confession: I have not welded in 40 years since I lived on the family farm in WI. And I never used a wire feed. I had a few small repairs and projects around the suburban house, some could not be taken to the nearby general repair shop so this seemed like the best solution. It is 120v so no special 220/240 wiring needed. After getting a mask and digging out leathers, I started experimenting. I was surprised at how easy this worked-- but I needed to really experiment on voltages etc. Watched a lot of videos. Bottom line is I got one thing fixed that needed to be done. Worth the time to (re)learn. Buy it. Practice. Be patient. Take notes.

Just plug into 110 Volts and you are welding. This welder uses a flux core wire which is purchased separately. This really simplified the welding process, previously I needed a tank of gas besides. After hooking up a ground clamp it is ready to weld. This light weight unit can easily be carried with one hand yet it achieves a quality weld with good penetration in a single pass.

I'm very happy with this little welder. I did some welding in a high school shop class many years ago and enjoyed it. Since then I've been around other welders and always had an itch to try my hand again. This is a great machine to get your feet wet and do some repairs around the house, yard, garage and RV. It would even be a way to express ones creative side making things like weather vanes, whirly-gigs, and artistic lawn sprinklers. It operates on ordinary household 110-120 Volt AC power. There are only 3 controls, on/off, speed, and temperature. It only has a 6 foot cord so you might want to get a good 12 ga. or 10 ga. extension cord. The instructions are well written and easy to understand. Because this doesn't use gas it is easy to get started. You'll need a helmet with the proper dark glass and a pair of welding gloves. Set up is easy and after a few practice welds to get a feel for the wire feed and voltage settings you'll be ready to get to work. I understand this is small as welders go and you're not going to build a trailer frame with it but around the house it will get plenty of use.

Well made easy to use flux welder. Most of my adult life I have had a welder of some type, mostly a 225 amp electric "stick" welder that used regular welding rods. about 20 years ago a friend purchased a wire welder that used gas and solid wire for welding, but you had to lease the bottle from a welding company. I got used to using that welder and really liked the clean almost splatter free welds, but my friend finally needed it back, so since then any welding I have needed to do was with my old stick welder. When i got the opertunity to get this flux core wire welder which does not need gas for welding ( no more gas cylinder lease) I decided to give it a try. Other than the fact that it uses wire with flux inside the wire which requires more clean up between passes and a little practice getting used to running a decent bead, I feel that it will serve my welding needs for as long as I need a welder. If you think that you will be doing welding on a regular basis, you might want to go with the same brand (well made) but the one that uses gas and solid wire for welding, which produces a cleaner weld.
