This product provides a great solution to those who want to install a grad bar at certain specific location where there is no backing inside the wall. The installation requires you to cut/drill a one inch diameter hole. It is something that you may need to consider if you plan to use this product on an existing tiled wall or marble panel. I recommend trying it on a cardboard before the actual installation to understand how this devise works. Once you tighten up the mounting screw, it feels solid. The flange has three mounting holes for your grad bar to anchor to. It comes with a thin gasket but I still think it is still better to caulk around it after the installation.

The space was too wide for the fiberglass wall of the shower. The pic and description should include this info. Waste of money.

This is a very solid way to secure a grab bar when mounting inside a framed drywall wall. The anchor that inserts into the wall cavity is high quality aluminum. You’ll need a level, a #2 Phillips screwdriver and a pencil. You’ll also need a way to cut a clean 1” hole in the drywall, a 1” cookie cutter on your cordless drill should do the trick. Simply lay out the mounting position, level the center of your intended 1” hole location with the center of your other mounting spot, drill the 1” opening into your drywall. Then remove the self adhesive strip covers, slide the anchor into the hole, pull back tight towards you, then tighten the screw until it snugs up. The kit came with two anchors so if you have no stud to attach one side of your grab bar to you can use both of these anchors. This is designed for use inside a drywall wall with 2x4 studs.

Ultimate strength wall anchor constructed of high quality materials used most commonly for safety grab bars but there are a few considerations you need to be aware of beforehand. This device requires a 1" hole for installation... things go wrong and you have a new project dealing with a significantly sized unwanted hole. The other issue at hand is that there needs to be 3 1/2" (size of stud commonly used for interior walls) clearance behind the wall so that it can be inserted. This is true with every type of heavy duty anchor I have encountered so far. This becomes a problem when installing on a wall that happens to be an outside wall of a cement block home. For whatever reason, block homes typically use thin metal studs for attaching the drywall to which in itself is not a problem since these anchors are for use when no stud is present in the desired location. The problem is that metal studs leave only about 2" of clearance between the cement block and the attached drywall thus making insertion of the anchor impossible. I'm presently considering modifying the anchor to allow for insertion, which certainly will void it's warranty, but there is also the concern of minimizing the integrity/strength of the anchor system so don't even consider doing this in a commercial application.

+ 2-pack - no negatives I haven't used this yet; idiot that I am I intended to mount a toilet-paper-roll-grab-handle with it, without noticing the obvious: its mounting plate is standard for ADA grab bars, whereas the mounting plates for the toilet-paper-roll-grab-handles are maybe an inch or so. I have a grab handle I'm not ready to mount yet that this will fit; shop around and see more than double the price for the same product, same design, different manufacturers. This is the one you obviously want.

I have been a builder remodeler for 49 years, and as such I have had many opportunities to install grab bars. But when installing them in fiberglass showers, it can be a challenge to have a solid backing to attach them to. That's where a product like this HOLLOW WALL GRAB BAR ANCHOR IN STAINLESS serves very well. It allows me to install grab bars without worries. I will often recommend this to my clients, as the comfort of this type of shower pays huge dividends in customer satisfaction, especially as we age, or serve the mobility challenged.

The HOLLOW WALL GRAB BAR ANCHOR IN STAINLESS by Franklin Brass allows you to mount grab bars in places that you do not have studs. It supports up to 500 pounds. Two anchors are included, one for either end of the bar. It is made of Hardened T5 Aluminum and steel with a neoprene gasket. Quality stuff. Much better than plastic supports. The installation was straightforward, and although I found it a little challenging, I am very satisfied with the end result.

The Franklin Brass Hollow Wall Grab Bar Anchor in Stainless is a very useful anchor system when you need to add a grab bar and don't have a stud in the right place. I actually used these to repair a job where the installer did not properly anchor the grab bar and the fiberglass surround is being stressed far too much (I'm surprised it's held up at all). Installation is easy, but since you have to drill a 1-inch hole to install this, it is best to practice on some scrap drywall, plywood, or even cardboard to get the hang of it before drilling into your walls. The rubber gasket seems adequate, but I would definitely caulk it just to be certain there's no water infiltration if you're putting a grab bar in a wet location.

Since my studs are not always in the location that I need to place a grab bar on my walls, I found that this hollow wall anchoring system beats individual plastic anchors. And, since the pulling on a grab bar is not just straight out but also down the Feature of a 500 pound rating is better than three or four plastic anchors rated at 75 to 50 pounds. The size of the hole in the wall is also a Feature that is an Advantage as it is minimal. This anchor system is by far better than any I have found. It works for me and I receive the Benefit of confidence when I have to use the grab bar. I hope this helps you, as I recommend this anchor system.

The package came with two anchors. They are very solid an well made. One has to drill a sizable hole in the wall to use it, but after doing so, it's pretty straightforward. The instructions were very clear and I didn't have any issues using them. The vertical support has two adhesive pads on it to help in positioning. My only comment on the support was that the screws were really tightened down and took quite a bit of effort to release. The supports come with a gasket to seal against the wall, but I put a small bead of caulk just above it to be sure.
