After cutting to size, cut a slit to allow lever to fit through. Also drilled holes to allow screw heads through. This allowed nice smooth fit to edges and a good seal.

I'm a cardmaker so I cut these covers to 5 X 7 and mount them on recycled cardboard and store my metal dies on them. They're perfect for that use, thin but with enough magnetic hold for the dies to stay put.

We have an awesome new ductless heat pump (mini split) in our home which means the registers all around our house are non-functional. While we closed the register grills (yes you can close them if you have a ductless hvac!), there were air leaks so we got these, cut to size, then painted with some leftover black paint we had and they work great! Note: These are simply sheets of lightweight magnets - keep the leftover scraps for craft and other DIY projects!

I bought these and they worked but I didn't need v them for that I use them to hold pics on the frig

I used this cover in ENTRYWAY. I also plan to use one in the Bathroom. I had planned to paint the entryway cover, but it’s “glossy” – and I guess that I’d need to “sand” it a bit, for the paint to grasp. There are no instructions about sanding and/or painting the cover. After Size-Trimming, I made a slit-cut for the Lever. I may sand/paint it another day, along with a better trimming.

I purchased this product from the store and on The way home I checked reviews and was thinking this was a waste of money. Then I tried it anyway since It was cheap. Guess what! it does exactly what it says. Used it on my ceiling vent. And working perfectly. Note:. 1 cut to size . 2 make holes for screws and the little lever. 3 make sure the vent is in closed position once done. The sheet needs to sit flush..

I don't use them as vent covers. I put them on the wall, and I put my metal dies on them so I can easily find them. They are dies for my die cutting machine, and they cling to the black side of the vent covers.

I use these vent covers as magnetic sheets to store my (metal) dies for craft projects. I have hundreds of dies for paper crafts - primarily card making and scrapbooking. I cut these to 10 inches put the dies on the dark side and the picture of what it is on the other side, then slip it in secure top sheet protectors to store in a notebook. I have about 25 notebooks. A lot of crafters use the vent covers as magnetic sheets for the same thing. I actually need to go buy some more!

These magnetic vent covers work well enough on metal vents. I have a few vents that have been painted over and the covers do not stick well with that thin layer of paint.

They work as expected. Price is reasonable. Magnet could be a little stronger for some applications.

If your vents look like these, they aren’t magnetic and won’t work.

I don't understand some of these reviews. Take ANY magnet and put it up your vent. Does it stick? Then this product will work. It's not a strong magnet, so if your vent isn't already restricting the airflow, I can see how that might be a problem. Also, make sure to clean and let dry the surface you're putting the magnet on first. Cut and applied to my ceiling vent and works perfectly at completely restricting the air. Best $5 I've spent in a while.

After reading some reviews of this product, I was curious as to my actual need. But, for health reasons, I went up and purchased a pack of three. Returning home, within a matter of a half hour, I had two installed where the need was greatest. the third, I placed in a handy spot in the garage. I must seriously question the truthfulness - OR - the mechanical abilities of the previous reviewers. Both of the units installed are working as advertised and, most importantly, as hoped for. Installation was about as easy as one can get. For a good fit, it is necessary to cut a couple of notches to fit over the screws -1/8 inch each. One other slit for the flow adjuster. THAT was IT! After a few of the previous reviews, I could only respond with "WHAT was the problem?" Oh...and you do have to recognize the magnetic side to place against the metal of the vent.

What a total waste of money. These are very thin and their magnetic capability is minimal. I put these on wall vents and the edges lift off and curl away from the vent which completely defeats their purpose. Unfortunately I have not been able to find anything better--the thicker, higher quality ones that I bought several years ago apparently aren't available anymore.

Barley stuck to my regular sized vents, had to cut alter and tape them up to get them to work and stay, air still get through

I've had this installed on a ceiling vent for a couple years in an unused basement bathroom that doesn't have a damper on the duct work. After just now trying to remove it from the vent, it started to separate from itself. The magnetic portion has bonded to the paint on the vent and either separates from the white portion, or removes the paint from the vent.

These might work if the vents are on the floor. I used them on ceiling vents and had a bit of difficulty getting them to stick at first (the magnet is not very strong) and then they did not stay on once the heat came on. The air flow was to strong and they fell to the floor. Had to tape them up with painters tape -- not a very good look.

These are useless. They do not stick at all! Do not buy!

I use this product in my craft room and it work wonderfully. I use it to hold my metal dies and have been use it for few years. The material is easy to cut to the size that I need.

you marked as i picked up the item but i did NOT because i was sick . I went to the store and they said i have to dispute the charges. Its a shame that you don't believe a long time customer.

I have needed these for a long time. In my kitchen, there are 2 vents that are in the base of 2 cabinets. When cold air from the HVAC systems blows through the vents, my ankles and feet freeze. Since I stand in both locations constantly, these magnetic vent covers work perfectly to keep the air from freezing my feet and ankles. They came in a larger size than I needed & cutting them was easy. I like that they are white. The price was outstanding. For some reason, I always receive free shipping. I love ordering online from Home Depot!

Amazing product! My apartment vents get cold air from the connected hallway HVAC (poor design by Ziegler Cooper architects), and this product limits the cold air flowing in.

They don’t adhere strong enough. They fell off the first time the system came on.

The magnetic cling is super weak... essentially non-existent. It immediately fall off. .

i have purchased these numerous times and cut them to 5x7 pieces. these pieces hold the dies that i use for scrapbooking and card making. i then put them with the coordinating stamps in a labelled clear envelope. works great and keeps them organized.

I use these magnet sheets to store my crafting metal dies. The sheets are easy to cut, works great and much cheaper than the magnet sheets sold in craft stores. Will continue to use these.

The magnet is so weak it doesn't hold at all. I don't think it would even block a floor vent and you can forget a ceiling one. Don't waste your money.
