Very dependable and service life is legit.
I set calendar invite for 180 days filter reminder change on iphone. My daughter took a drink after filter change and notice softer water and enjoyed glass. During covid 19 out break i figured we better get ready to dig in and make aure water at home is safe for next 6 months.

This is a great water filter cartridge that removes everything imaginable, for $25. I use it under my sink for the filtered water spout on my sink, and for my refrigerator water and ice cube maker. By doing this, I can remove the refrigerator cartridge (and leave it out) that costs $50. I got this idea from reading my new refrigerator's instruction sheet. It says you don't have to turn the water off to change to filter cartridge, therefore, you can use your refrigerator without the expensive plug in filter.

GOES NOT FIT the recommended GE fiter system - leaks!
I don't know what happened to GE's quality on this item. I have been using these filters for years, but I picked up this FXUVC filter at Home Depot and it did not work in the recommended Model # GX1S01R housing. I tightened the case as tight as I could, but it leaked. I even replaced the entire system and still no luck. It wasn't until I put my old filter back in and the leaking stopped. After looking at other reviews and also on Home Depot's site that I realized the problem - the filter's dimensions are slightly off - enough to make the case not close completely - leaking terribly. Wasted hours in frustration.

This filter is used for our under sink filter unit. It is Factory rated for a 6 month replacement cycle. GE has the input and output water holes sized perfectly, to allow for reduced pressure at your sink faucet. The filtered water is perfection, for drinking or cooking!

        Clean, tasty water
We purchased this filter along with the GE Undercounter Standard Filter Unit. The taste is phenomenal. Our area is actually having a seasonal issue with water taste due to geosmin (dead algae). This filter not only removes the bad taste and smell, but gives a clean, pleasant taste. Some reviews online state that the water flow rate is very low. We have found it to be fine considering the large amounts of contaminants it removes. Also, you have to consider that this filter takes out MTBE's and VOC's, if that is important to you. It does take a bit to fill a one gallon pitcher, but it is not long enough to be aggravating--not near as long as the faucet filter we have used before. The water is even better than with the two-stage undersink filter we have had. All the stages are basically in one filter. We use probably 3-4 gallons of filtered water daily for tea, cooking, and drinking and it is still doing great after a couple of months. So glad we went with this over the reverse osmosis system that takes up so much room and uses three filters. Also, easy to install and change the filter. I feel it is worth the money spent.

It works great and is compatible with my filter system, which is not. I have used this brand for years, and the taste of the water is always great and i am investing in my health, by consuming filtered water. This also, minimizing water bottles that accumulate, that is such a shame people do not avail themselves of such systems to reduce waste, plastics.

Easy to install. Works the way it should be. Filters out the residue and removes the strong taste of the tap water. I replace it every year, so it last a while.

This filter is good for people on wells. It is- or claims to be- good for a much wider scope of contaminants than the less expensive filters.
