Customer Reviews for GE Universal 8 ft. Ice Maker Water Supply Line

Needed to replace my years old copper line to the ice maker. Went to Home Depot and wouldn't you know it, the length line I needed happened to be the least expensive. Plenty of spare hose behind the frig (and in the basement as well) so I don't damage it when I pull it out to clean. It had the puncture valve, 25' of poly hose, new fittings...it had everything. 20 minutes later I was making ice.

This product is about as simple as can be. One hose easily connects in seconds. I spent more time looking for the two 1/2" wrenches needed for the installation than I spent in the actual installation Itself. I was concerned that the 6' length might not be enough for me to move the refrigerator to facilitate cleaning the floor. Not only is it long enough to move the refrigerator completely off its normal footprint, but it's short enough so the hose doesn't touch the floor and get in the way of cleaning ops. I highly recommend flushing at least a couple gallons of water through your refrigerator's water dispenser immediately after completing the installation. It's the wise thing to do. This water hose is the same material as the water hose installed inside the refrigerator itself, so I don't quite understand how it can adversely affect taste as much as indicated in one of the reviews I've read. Indeed virtually all modern plumbing materials are manufactured out of some form of plastic or other.

This water line is the wrong size for this refrigerator. Connectors too small to attach to water solenoid valve. Existing Water pipe on refrigerator is 5/16. This is 1/4.

Fast and easy hookup. Because it has a plastic farrow don’t over tighten.

This item is difficult to really review because the Frigidaire refrigerator that we bought at the same time has never worked and freezes everything. Home Depot said it was not their problem & now Frigidaire only gives me the runaround. 3 months and counting without refrigerator. My suggestion would be to be cautious when buying from any store that will not stand by to help their customers.

Great upgrade from our previous fridge and the ability to change which side the door opens is perfect. A lot of extra space.
