Great Product
I don't usually write reviews, but this gun makes dispensing spray foam so easy. I've used the regular cans for years but never realized this product existed until seeing it on the shelf at HD recently. It makes it possible to lay a bead of spray foam whatever size you want with a simple turn of the knob on the back. It's as easy-probably easier-than using a caulk gun. As soon as you release the trigger, the foam stops. No more mess while applying spray foam. I used a whole can of foam yesterday sealing cracks in the 1x sheathing from the inside of a room that I'm remodeling and re-insulating. Worked flawlessly.

DOES NOT work with great stuff pest block
I have a major ant problem and had used the pest block foam to fill in cracks around the house and it worked. I bought more foam to fill smaller cracks outside the house and also bought the gun so it would be less messy. Well it doesn't fit the can of great stuff pest block. I was disappointed. I used the foam anyway and it made a mess. now i have to find a way to cut it off and start over.

Thank you for your review. The Great Stuff™ Pro products are available in two version. With an attached straw, or those that are meant to screw onto a pro dispenser gun. Unfortunately, these cans cannot be used interchangeably.

Once cured, it cannot be removed with solvents and the only option is mechanical removal. On hard, smooth, or polished surfaces this may be accomplished very carefully with a single-edged razor blade. If this does not work, or if the foam is on a soft or porous surface, the only option is to attempt to remove it using a non-abrasive cleanser.

Works great in conjunction with the pro foam canisters. I can go over a month between uses and it continues to work. On occasion I will need to gently scrape the cured foam off the tip of the gun which can sometimes prevent it from dispensing. If you follow this up with the cleaner it will work good as new. Never allow this to dry without a can of foam on it unless you are sure it has been thoroughly cleaned out. This needs to be maintained properly to get long-lasting use out of it. I like to use some cheap pieces of vinyl tubing attached to the end to reach tight spaces, tossing the tubing when finished.

This product is a MUST have for professional contractors and builders. I was highly resistant to purchasing this product because of the increased cost with the gun and cans, however once I tried it out while installing polyiso foam board in between studs, I was hooked. I was cautious because of other reviews where they mentioned the gun jamming up, but I've had no problem almost 30 cans in. Great product, that I've already recommended to my HVAC guy.

I ran about 30 cans of foam through this gun and was ready to put it up for a six month vacation. I went to take it apart to give it a full cleaning and the nozzle snapped off at the threads, even thought I soaked it overnight with PB blaster. Great stuff does not sell replacement parts so the gun is now worthless. The part is paper thin and tore more than snapped. Thankfully I have an older gun that was built very sturdy, I have taken it apart several times in it's 20+ year life. I would only recommend it if you don't have expectations of it lasting very long, otherwise spend the extra money and get a better quality gun that will last.

Hi LumberLizzerd, we don't recommend disassembling the GREAT STUFF PRO™ 14 Dispensing Gun (including the nozzle) for deep cleaning. We also don't recommend soaking the gun in penetrating oil. Penetrating oil will degrade the seals inside the gun. Cleaning should take place immediately after you have completed dispensing foam. The approved internal cleaning process is to run about half a can of GREAT STUFF PRO™ Gun Cleaner through the gun until the nozzle stream is clear. If done properly, this should be sufficient for internal cleaning.

I never review anything but when I bit the bullet and spent $50 bucks on this after years of using the single cans I had to let everyone know it is worth every penny. We all know the cans once you start you have to use it all and not to mention you get this stuff everywhere and I mean everywhere. Well this gun makes this stuff last forever and no mess at all, you can lay a bead down that rivals caulk guns. I bought 4 cans but after nearly 4 weeks of sealing up the whole attic I just now finishing off one can and i don't have it all over the place and not on me. 1. Screw can on 2. Open valve and use 4. Once you let off trigger flow STOPS! GREAT! 5. Close valve when you're done 6. As long as can has foam left just store it 7. Right out of storage it works with again with same can attached NO HASSLE Simply said I will never buy a single can again EVER! I know I was reluctant to spend $50 BUT I'm glad I did

Will never install spray foam without it
I was insulating a cathedral ceiling with rigid foam and needed to foam the gaps. The cost difference between this gun and its "pro" can and the regular cans seemed like a no-brainer - 2 hours, 3 regular cans, and a mess of epic proportions later i bought the gun and wish i had from the get go. It cuts off as soon as you let go of the trigger which allows you to put the foam exactly where you want it. It holds the can upside down even when foaming overhead which keeps the foam flowing. Lastly, it controlled the mess. If you have a lot of foam to install its worth the investment.

I love that you can use and close and reuse a week late. It is a little expensive but i the long run, I will be saving money! You can control the rate you dispense to a bead or a large amount which helps you cut down on waste. Would buy again!

This spray gun is a game changer. It makes spray foaming way more accurate than you can ever get with a can. It’s still messy and you have to make sure to follow the maintenance instructions to ensure the gun doesn’t clog. You also have to use special foam cans, the regular cans that come with the straw tip won’t work. I used this to seal my attic before adding more insulation. Bead size is adjustable for accurate precision.

                Didn’t last long
I cleaned this every time I used it. Using the gun cleaner and acetone for the outside parts. The spray got off sideways, the ball check valve where you insert the can leaks and trigger has a slight leak letting foam always drip. You can’t disassemble it. Not worth it. Disappointing for the cost.

Hello - Thank you for sharing your concerns with us regarding Great Stuff™ Insulating Foam Sealant products. We apologize for any inconvenience you may have encountered. The leaks could be caused by cleaning it too much with foam cleaner as it damages the rubber seals and O-rings over time. It's better to leave a partially used can of foam on the gun instead of cleaning it. The gun should only be cleaned if it won't be used for more than 30 days and/or every 12-24 cans of foam. The spray pattern could be fixed with a new nozzle, but that is the only spare part what was offered for the Pro Dispensing Guns. DOW

I've been using the Great Stuff foam gun for a couple of years now. One word of warning keep the gun clean. I keep a can of the cleaner on the gun after every use under pressure. Give it a couple shots every day until it's clear. Or it will eventually plug up.

                  You can take this apart
These guns can be disassembled (hint) tube and tip can be removed keep in mind they used a threadlocker on tube and tips.all threadlock can be removed with a little heat i use a small torch not a ton of heat apply some heat and put your pliers on keep heat on while applying small pressure on pliers and keep heat on till it starts to unthread then remove. I have disassembled mine 100% then cleaned thoroughly and reassemble with a little silicone grease (there’s your dinner)

                    Great tool, makes foam last
I’ve had this for almost 2 years and it’s still working well. Keeps foam cans usable for a very long time, at the moment I’ve had the same can on it for over a year and it works perfectly every time I need it. Tip: clean the end of the nozzle after every use with a bit of nail polish remover to keep foam from drying up and blocking it. If it does dry I’ve found that an eyeglass repair screwdriver or tip of a nail works to loosen. Great product

Gun works well. Cleaning it will be problematic for the DIYer not using great quantities of spray foam. Gun controls bead size well. Prefer to have a non-stick exterior for easy of post dry cleaning.

Fills larger gaps easily. Also a good water barrier. The foam gun is sturdy and cleans up easily with a can of the cleaner. System addresses smaller jobs very well.

Works like a charm. Nice thing about it is once you're done, just wipe the tip, foam in the tube doesn't dry out. I got tired of dealing with the plastic tubes that come with the cans of foam. No more mess.

                      Extremely satisfied and saves money
No issues at all. I followed the instructions that came with the gun. You close the valve when you are finished using the gun. They recommend putting a new can on the gun as soon as you finish with your current can of spray foam. If you don't have another can they recommend running cleaner through the gun until it comes out clear. When I turn the valve on, it dispenses foam. Adjusting the flow is quite easy, you turn the valve more open. It is quite easy to test on a piece of cardboard or something similar to see how much is coming out, then when it's properly adjusted, you point it where you want it to go and pull the trigger. It couldn't be simpler to use.

Works as intended but expensive, bulky, and requires additional cleaner to safely store
I've used both two part "professional" foam kits and several brand of canned foam, and this gun makes applying the foam much easier and much, much cleaner. It's really nice being able to stop and start the foam as you work without it drying up. When not using the gun for a few days, I would finish a can of foam, then use a can of cleaner and clean off the gun inside and out, then leave the can of cleaner on the gun while not in use. It was always ready to use again when needed. The included plastic tips tend to glue themselves to the end of the gun and I had to use a razor to cut them off after use. I am a little disappointed by how bulky the gun is. In several spots I could not apply foam where I wanted without turning the gun sideways, which wastes the propellant in the foam can and results in less foam yield per can. I am also a little irritated that this expensive gun seems like it's compatible with a very limited number of products (I could only find the pink/red fireblock gaps and cracks cans to fit at Home Depot). I would like to see the window seal and the "large gaps" foam available in this format as well. Additionally, the straight tips work for injecting foam in corners but it would be nice to have a fan tip to apply the foam to solid surfaces. It's not often used that way but would have sped up several projects I used the foam for. If you have a lot of foam to spray, I do recommend the product, but it is expensive for its limitations.
