Total trash. Made a huge mess!
After using one of the Gila decorative rolls on another space and finding it very easy to apply, I decided to try this adhesive product on a large window that I needed frosting. I'm so glad I stopped a quarter of the way through application, because the paper left large spots of adhesive all over the glass that were clearly visible through the material and looked horrible. After tearing off what I had applied, I had to go back to the store to purchase a goo remover product and razor blade.

    Ok but check backing
I used this on two windows. The first sheet went on well. Followed the directions and was patient and it turned out perfect. The second piece i used, i noticed that a portion did not fee too sticky, almost not at all. Sure enough, that corner never really felt secure and has now peeled up. Probably just a fluke for that roll but something to look out for

      Sucks
No matter how much you follow the instructions. The application film kit you need to apply this will damage the paint. Save money and get frosted spray..

I have used this product many times throughout my house, very easy to use and love that it keeps the hot sun rays out but does let the light in.

        Horrible Do Not Buy!!
We bought this product and applied it as directed. Clearly states that you can remove easily. All of the adhesive remained on the huge church doors!!! I called customer service who were 100% aware of this problem and told me I had to buy their Gila Removal Solution to remove. This entails applying it, buying white plastic to cover it, wait 30 Min and then pray it comes off!!! Option 2 make your own with ammonia!!!! Do Not Buy!!! No warning of this on the box!! Not easily removed!

          Installation nightmare
I have a 44"x49" picture window in my bathroom. My husband and I meticulously followed the directions and purchased the installation kit and the frosted film looks awful. I'm pretty crafty and patient with this sort of thing, but there are a ton of bubbles that will not squeegee out, the film tore at one edge, the corners wont stay down. I will be removing and trying the $7 Rustoleum spray frosting. Wish I had seen that option before spending a total of about $50 on the film + install kit.

Should’ve listened to the negative reviews
This product is awful! I applied it on my front door windows and side windows on Saturday afternoon, seemed to stick well with the tools from the application kit. By the evening it was peeling on half of the windows. I reapplied more of the application spray and used the tool to smooth out the spray. It is now Tuesday and I’ve had to touch up almost every little window each day. This is an utter waste of $50 ($33 for the film and $16 for the kit). I’m so frustrated. Buyer beware!

TWO PERSON JOB, easy, looks great!
If you follow the instructions it’s really easy. You definitely need two people to do this, especially because you have to spray the film itself before you apply to a sprayed window because of static. So one person holds the film while the other sprays film while removing the clear liner. Make sure to clean your windows really well and use a non lint towel to remove any lint to prevent bubbles. Use windex, don’t buy their spray, it leaves a film.

So happy with this. It wasn’t hard at all, we added the kit with the spray and tool. A $50 fix that is better than a $1000 window treatment. I’m telling everyone. See the before and after!

                Love the look and privacy
You definitely want to apply the film with two people and take your time as it is a bit tricky, but the results are wonderful! We are extremely happy with our purchase. It added an elegance and privacy to the windows on the side of our front door and a very large window that is in our bathroom. Definitely recommend it.

                Not easy, but it works!
I gave 4/5 stars because of the difficulty it takes to apply. I purchased the application kit and had someone else helping, it took us almost 3 hours to do one window. However, it looks great! It does exactly what I need it to do. If you clean the windows thoroughly beforehand and are generous with the application fluid, you won’t have all those nasty looking air bubbles after smoothing everything out. If you’ve got time on your hands and patience, this product is 100% for you.

I don’t know what those other people did..
Unless you don’t read the instructions I don’t see what the issue is? You will need 2 people and a spray bottle of soapy water, razor blade, and larger squeegee (like one for window cleaning. You need something way bigger than a credit card obviously lol)

                      Worked perfectly
Before using this, watch the videos for instructions! I bought a house & have a glass door. Some people may love a glass door but I feel like anybody could look in! Instead of replacing the door, I purchased this. It applied great on an oval-shaped door.

                        worst product ever !!
Static cling prevents the sheets from pulling apart at all. The film tears easily. And it cannot be done with one person, unless your window is small and you can trim the film to size. Ive never been more agrivated in my life. Definately hire someone and buy a better brand. this stuff is trash.

                          just what I needed
I found this easy to install on my own. I bought the spray kit recommended to use alongside the film. The kit was missing the scraper and cutter so I used a box cutter and gift card. This worked perfectly with no issues.

Frosted Privacy Film- Worked Like a Charm
Very good product that installed and looks as advertised! I had none of the challenges expressed by some of the negative comments. I measured, cleaned, and prepped as recommended and it worked great. I did not buy the Installation Kit, but rather just purchased a cheap plastic putty knife 3-pak (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Anvil-2-in-4-in-and-6-in-Plastic-Taping-Knives-3-Pack-82722/308729651), and a squeegee (https://www.homedepot.com/p/HDX-12-in-Window-Squeegee-without-Handle-972010/204368070), and then used my toolbox knife and a squirt bottle with some distilled water and a couple of drops of dishwashing soap. I did spray on a fair amount of liquid, both on the film and on the window (per the directions), and I had no problem positioning the film on the window, nor pushing out the air bubbles that formed. Great solution to a door window where I needed privacy but didn't want to install blinds. My only request would be that it would be great if they offered a version with a slightly more transparent film.

Product was a bit awkward for one person but you do what you can do. I highly recommend cleaning and recleaning then recleaning the window to ensure there are no ticks of paint spatter or debris. I have a 3050 single hung window top went smooth no air bubbles very smooth. The bottom however a bit more challenging. I discovered a crack in the window after attempting to smooth and needless to say air gap, be very cautious not to the let the film fold or crimp it doesn't smooth out. I also trimmed mine a little different than mfg specs I measured the surface and trimmed the film to fit vs. a little hangover to trim away I felt more comfortable positioning the film and this will allow me to cover 2 windows in one roll. See day and night photos. You can see the blemishes on the lower pane less noticeable during the day.

                              Works great!
As with any window film prep is the key! Invest in some razor blades and scrape the window completely clean using a fresh blade and windex. Go back over the window with windex and paper towel to ensure it’s totally clean. When you lay the film out and cut to the size plus about an inch, spray the film completely, so not skimp here! Same goes for the window, drench the window with application fluid. Line up a factory edge and make sure you keep that edge at all times as you squeegee the film. I didn’t use a rubber squeegee, just the plastic scraper in the application kit and it worked perfect. Once you’ve squeegees out the fluid (all the while keep that factory edge lined up - 2 people doing this project comes in handy here!). For trimming, again use a fresh razor blade, not the trim tool. Trim the BOTTOM edge first, then the side opposite the factory edge and finally the top. Then go back through and give everything a last squeegee. I had zero issues with air bubbles and zero issues with the film sticking to itself. The keys are a clean surface to start, fresh razor blades, keeping the factory edge in place while you squeegee and take your time! I did 2 windows that came out perfect. A 27.5x45” and a 21x63” window.

                                Hades on earth
Installs like hades, puts you through hades, looks like hades afterward. I have performed hundreds of home improvement and home rehab projects and installations. Installing this Gila film on a single 44"x56" window was of the more frustrating experiences of my entire life. You will use every curse word you know, then make up 8000 more! Just so you know, the pictures show what my installation looks like AFTER I spent an hour working out the bubbles with a squeegee. I bought 2 boxes of this Gila privacy film, to install on two large bathroom windows and three small 21"x21" bedroom windows. I naturally wanted to install on the largest window first, then use the scraps to get the smaller windows. Issues: 1. They sell this product in a 4.5' x 6' roll (presumably so it is large enough to fit my 44" tall 56" wide window). Then in the instructions they tell you to not let the adhesive side of the film touch itself during installation. But because they sold the product in a roll, the film has a memory, and wants to roll back up after it is unrolled. Even if a helper holds the top two corners (not easy to do for a 56" wide window), the bottom edges will roll inwards toward each other, and the adhesive film will touch itself, because GILA FILM HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO TOUCH ITSELF DURING INSTALLATION (because it comes in a small diameter roll with shape memory), causing the unrolled product to roll back up, even after the clear protective liner is removed. SO THE PRODUCT ADHESIVE SIDE ABSOLUTELY WILL WITHOUT A DOUBT TOUCH ITSELF IF YOU ARE INSTALLING ON A LARGE WINDOW. THIS WILL RUIN THE PRODUCT, BECAUSE YOU WILL HAVE TO PULL SO HARD TO GET IT APART THAT THE FILM PERMANENTLY STRETCHES. 2. In the meantime, the application solution is drying on the window, so you have to pause to respray the window. You're pulling your hair out now, and that hair is sticking to the window film. 3. The film now has permanent creases in it from being stuck together and pulled apart, and a little hole where it started to tear. 4. Gila cut this product with notches in the end of the roll, so that as you are in the middle of pulling off the clear protective liner, the liner will tear at the notch, and then you can't get the rest of the liner off the film. You utter another few curse words. You have to pause and go get more scotch tape so you can separate the clear liner at the OTHER corner. What was Gila thinking by cutting the end of their roll with notches?!? 5. The trim tool in the application kit dulls before the first window is completed, tearing the film, making the installation look like hades. 6. When trimming with the Trim Tool, it will trim 1/16" away from the edge of the metal window frame. This is not enough of a gap to clear the bead of manufacturer rubber window seal on the edge. Consequently, you will trim off small bits of rubber seal that will get under the edges of the window film, preventing the window film from sticking to the window at the edges. Also, this means there will not be the required 1/16" gap between the edge of the window film and the bead of rubber or caulk on the edge of the window seal. So the window film will be butting up against the seal, preventing the film from laying flat on the window. You'll have to manually go back and RETRIM the window film, and by now your Gila Edging Tool is really dull, resulting in more rips and tears. Instead of a nice clean edge, it will look ragged and jagged. You will try to use scissors, but without the clear protective film backing, you will find the film is slippery from the application solution, and will not cut well at all. So the edges of your installation will look horrible. Each time you pull back the film to readjust or retrim or get rid of a strip of the cut rubber seal, you will use more of your Application Solution. You will run out prematurely. I could go on and on...

Privacy! Great price and low hassle vs drapes
Reno’ed the living room and wanted something beside sheers for privacy. Purchased in-store & this was less than the artsy stick option. Purchased the application kit, as well. Easy application, once you get the hang of it. If you have a dog, keep some tweezers handy to pick off start hairs (our dog’s fur is like eyelashes). Also used a razor blade at times. I even used a bowl to cut in a “dog window”. Prolly best to install when heat/sun is not coming thru the window. It dries the application spray quickly. Love the result!

I put them up in the windows downstairs. It gives the people down there privacy and lots of light. It's perfect for our wants and needs.

                                    Ruined our windows
We placed this on our window, tried to remove it and the adhesive has entirely stuck to our windows. It's essentially ruined all of our windows.

                                      Worked well
Worked well. Made the room feel much more private, while keeping it bright! I followed the video instructions. Take your time. If you move too fast it can be problematic when peeling off the protective film from the cling. The kit (sold separately) has the spray, a plastic spatula, small cutter and a lint free cloth. I used a decent amount of spray. Overall I really like the result!!
