I’d just topped up my grease gun and wanted to get rid of the residual grease on my hands. I tore open one of the pouches containing one Grease Monkey cleaning wipe and unfolded it, it was a good size. I ‘washed’ my hands with the cloth and in seconds the greasiness was gone and there was a faint citrus smell in the air. The packaging contains warnings about possible skin irritation but I did not experience any even on my thumb which has a fresh cut right across it from a piece of heavy foil. Only a flesh would but I expected it to sting a bit. Great to have around when a quick, no fuss clean-up is required.

These wipes work well on grease and other engine and car related grease, the "soap" that is in them does a good job of cleaning. The individually wrapped wipes are nice for throwing in the glove box or trunk of your car. They are good for cleaning your fingers, not so much for cleaning your whole hand as they are only about 7" x 8" they need to be a little bigger, also it would be nice it they were a little thicker so they would absorb more dirt grease and grime. But for dirty hands you will need to use two of them. So all in all they are nice to carry and work decently but could be better.

The 2 5/8" x 2 1/4" x 4 1/4" box contains 12 conveniently- and individually-packaged 8" x 7" wipes. According to the package: "Grease Monkey Wipes are made for heavy duty cleaning. Use wherever you get dirty to remove grease, grime. oil. road tar, permanent marker, adhesives and other everyday messes." Just below that is the caution: "May irritate skin and eyes. In case of contact, flush immediately with water." Though I did not take any precautions during my testing and did not suffer any adverse effects, this statement concerns me on a product that is clearly intended for cleaning hands. I used two typical situations to test the manufacturer's claims. First, using permanent markers, I wrote on a piece of scrap melamine and after about ten minutes attempted to remove the markings. This took a lot more effort than I expected and only after some ten to twenty minutes of really hard rubbing was I able to remove most of the markings. Though there was no detectable deterioration of the melamine surface, I would be concerned with using this much effort on a less-resilient surface. Result: failed this test. Second, I attempted to remove adhesive residue from a tool package that had been sealed with tape. This product removed the dirt from the adhesive, but failed to remove the adhesive from the package. I subsequently removed the adhesive using another manufacturer's liquid product. Result: failed this test. Given the cautions on the package and my experience with the product, I would hesitate to recommend it.

I even got some of this black grime on my cotton jersey capri pants. I took the same wipe, rubbed the spots on my pants and the grime came off instantly! They really are amazing little wipes!! They measure 8' x 7" unfolded and are made with a citrus formula consisting of : Polyaminopropyl Biguanide, Alcohol Ethoxylate, Sodium Bicarbonate, Sodium Gluconate, Sodium Benzoate, Citric Acid, Citrus Terpenes. The Grease Monkey Wipes are a novel idea. The individually wrapped wipes are conveniently packaged and can be easily stashed in a toolbox or workbench drawer. The wipes are intended for serious hand cleaning. The directions include the expected grease, grime, and lubricants but also include glue, adhesives, and permanent marker. I gave the wipes a try removing the chlorophyll that I get on my hands from managing my tomatoes. The tomatoes give my hands the ultimate grass stain when I don’t wear gloves, especially on my thumbs. The wipes actually did a good job removing the chlorophyll stains, although it did take two wipes. The wipes are a bit dryer than I expected and not excessively moist like the ones that the barbecued ribs joints provide. They also have a faint, pleasing odor. They did not dry my skin. I’m pleased with how the Grease Monkey Wipes work and will keep them handy from now on.

This review is for the Grease Monkey Individual Heavy-Duty Multi-Purpose Cleaning Wipes (Box of 12). I was given a chance to check these things out; I'm a DIY homeowner, no longer a professional mechanic, so this review is from the DIY viewpoint. The Grease Monkey wipes are advertised as being suitable to "safely clean grease, grime, oil, lubricants, adhesives, ink and much more". There is a warning on the back of the box that the wipes contain chemicals that may cause skin or eye irritation, and I don't think I would recommend using them to wipe someone's face. There is no overpowering aroma and I had no skin reaction when I used the wipes to clean grease off of my hands. The wipes do have a light citrus aroma, but it doesn't cling to your hands after use. I've found them excellent for grease and oil and the wipes removed Sharpie black marker ink from my hands without leaving a trace. However the wipes were ineffective in removing adhesive from plastic bottles and a metal can; even after scraping the paper labels off, the Grease Monkey wipes couldn't remove the residual adhesive. While the same wipes are available in larger quantities in canister packaging, these wipes are packaged individually and the packets are "easy open". That makes them quite handy to have in your toolbox, glovebox, saddle bag, tackle box, etc. Made in the U.S.A., the wipes measure 8” x 7” and the packets measure approximately 2.5” x 4” (see photos). Even though in my testing the wipes didn’t remove label adhesive all that well, the fact that it did manage the types of grease and dirt that I might encounter during a car or motorcycle or outboard motor trip, and the fact that the things are so easily tucked into just about any space, I’m rating them at five stars. As for value, the larger canister size offers a better cost-per-sheet, but “value” also includes the usability as well as cost. The trans-portability of the individual packets makes up for the increased cost (for me, YMMV). They've earned a spot in my "go to" tool tote (the one that has a little bit of everything for handling minor household chores and repairs). The Grease Monkey wipes do a better job than using a plain paper towel or microfiber cloth and don't take up much room. HTH Regards, Jim

This is a great item to keep around the house for a quick clean up job or in your car, backpack or child’s-bag. They are a small and light enough package to be able to store almost anywhere. The towels unfold into a good-sized sheet and are moistened which makes cleaning up a mess easier. The smell is good too! I tested them out on some stuck-on residue from my toddler’s area at the dinner table. The towel did as well at cleaning it as any other pre-moistened towel would do. The towel does dry out after a couple of minutes of use which means they’re not going to clean a huge area. As I mentioned before, the advantage to these is portability.

I am extremely surprised of results. I often repair my 1958 Corvette and try to get rid of the black grease from my hands and nails. This product came in individually packed napkins in a box (12 and 24 available). After the repair, I was wiping my fingers with one of them, and really all the grease was gone. I am attaching a picture of the tissue after that. There are chemicals in it, not sure how natural it is, but did the job.

The Grease Monkey Wipes, works really well. I cleaned a section of my Air Compressor that had a grease and oil film. I removed tar from my lower front fender, it was on there for quite some time. I had to use a little elbow grease, but it did remove the tar. The Wipes are a great all purpose grease and grime cleaning wipe, which is 8'' x 7''. Made In USA.

I was curious about these wipes after seeing them on a television show. They appeared to be high quality, convenient wipes so I was interested to try them. These wipes are individually packaged so they are convenient when you are on the go. I would say that if you're around the house, the individual packaging would be a waste and there are probably better options. These wipes are 8" X 7" and they are "Citrus Formula". When you open the wipe, they are fairly thin material but they are stronger than I thought they would be. On my picture, you can see that they are thin enough to easily see through so their strength was surprising. I pulled on the wipe to see how much they could take before ripping. They did eventually rip but it took more effort than I thought it would. When you use the wipe, if there is heavy grease, it does bleed through to the other side of the wipe but it is effective in cleaning up grease. As I said, I would definitely use these wipes for when I am on the go on a walk, bike ride, or car trip but when I'm around the house, I would choose something with less packaging.

There are a lot of things that will clean grease from your hands. But mostly they smell like solvent, and dry your skin. A lot of "natural" products don't smell bad, but don't really clean your skin. This morning, I went bike riding. I should have cleaned and relubed my chain, but didn't. Of course, the chain came off the gears about 5 miles from home. The only solution is grab the greasy chain with your fingers, and pull it back into position. Needless to say, it leaves your hands so greasy you don't want to touch your bike, your clothes, anything. Fortunately, I had one of these wipes in my bike bag. Result: clean hands, dirty wipe, no smell, no dry skin. Very impressive.

I am a traveling mechanic and I have tried MANY similar products from Grease Monkey competitors but Grease Monkey is by far my favorite. They work great, they smell nice and they do not leave your hands overly wet, foamy, sticky or with a grose film. I highly recommend this product!

I have loved this product for years. Now I cannot even get a price without giving my life’s story. I will try a competator’s product.

Reordered what I had purchased originally from local bike shop. Great stuff when doing tire change or adjustment on-the-fly. I've also given more than a few out to people I meet that have bike problems. Always much appreciated. Delivery to my local HD store only took 2 days.

These wipes are the best at cleaning grease and everything else naturally.

I use these wipes to clean up when I can’t wash up. I have been working on an old Volkswagen Diesel. Any diesel but especially an old diesel is covered with impossible to remove black gunk. When I finished the repair I tore open one of the Grease Monkey Wipes and started wiping down my hands. The wipe instantly tuned black but it still kept cleaning. My hands were clean and the wipe was still damp so I used it to give a quick wipe to the steering wheel rim. The rim gets kind of grotty with oil and sweat from my hands that is hard to remove. The partially used Grease Monkey wipe removed the crud as well as anything I have used. The wipes seem to be similar to a lot of the pre wetted cleaning wipes but a lot sturdier. What surprised me was that even though the wipe had turned black from hand cleaning it did not leave a residue on the steering wheel. Now I intend to try them for things other than hand cleaning.

Grease Monkey Heavy Duty Cleaning Wipes are super to use. They come individually in a sealed packet, and this makes it invaluable to carry in your pocket, purse, glovebox, etc. they come twelve to a box and are an ideal cleaning wipe to have anywhere. I tried it on old grease on an outboard - gone in a second. It will wipe that road tar right off your vehicle. I really enjoy using these and highly recommend them. I can see them being sold individually on an Automotive Parts Counter, or picked up by the box of 12 in places like Home Depot, Walmart, and large stores.

Sometimes you get so dirty that you don't even want to touch the door knob to get into the house to clean up. Or rather your other half doesn't want you to touch anything at all because you are so dirty. These wipes are a handy solution to your dilemma., you can get clean enough to get into the house . I think that at 8"X7" they are kind of small and also there are only 12 per box which is not too many, but on the other hand they make a compact package to carry with you anywhere.

Was given a GMW by a fellow cyclist when my chain jumped the big ring at the beginning of a long training ride. Normally, I would have wiped my fingers on the grass which still left a mess on my hands. Gotta say I was amazed at how well this little towelette worked. Melted the grease away and completely cleaned my fingers. I do not get this clean using soap and water after working on my bike at home. Unfortunately, I have had a hard time finding it in local bike shops. I ordered some today and will take some to Loose Nuts Cycles and Outback Bikes where I do business hoping they will stock it.
