I had received the butcher block and just got around to putting it on table base The maple butcher block was suppose to be clear this has several really dark spots in the wood top (good side) that look like small burn marks. I did apply the food grade oil but that did not help. The Bucher block board's run long way are very skinny as well, not wider which looks like other quality maple butcher block The overall quality is just poor, with many imperfections. I would have expected the manufacture to have not let this go out to a customer.

Quality was excellent! The material was nice to work with, and it took the oil finish well. The finished piece came out beautiful.

The one side had some wood filler, that was a little disappointing for the price. I used it for floating shelves so both sides are exposed. Overall seems like good quality

I got the 6ft x 39 inch version and cut it down slightly to fit a custom island size. Used a 1/4 inch round-over bit in a small hand router to give it a little bit of a custom looking edge. Finished with oil based poly since using as a countertop. The countertop came wrapped in thick plastic with hard plastic edges on the corners for protection as well as a foam type sheet top and bottom to protect the surfaces. Was delivered right to house. Really a beautiful piece!

Overall good product if you only want to use one side. The side with more character also has wood filler in multiple places. Pleased with how it turned out for my application.

This needed sanding, which we did. There was a gough on the top edge. One side was extremely messed up with filler and cross sanding marks. The top side had some filler spots. When I applied the oil finished, there were several spots that would NOT take the oil. We hand to sand those spots for quite a while to get them to even begin to take it. I thought it would be worth the higher price, but I was mistaken. Extremely dissatisfied! I should’ve taken it back, but was too far in, when I found it.

This product was delivered to my house. This Maple 72 x 36 butcher block was very poorly made. It is quite heavy also. One side about 12 inches split as I was cutting it. Good thing I needed only 62 X 36 of the block. But the split is more than 12 inches. You can see the photo where the split ends. Also there other spots that cracked. I have to apply wood glue. For another project that I did before this maple butcher block. This Maple butcher block also bowed in the middle and sloped on one end. See the photo. The two 96 x 25 Birch butcher block I purchased at the Home Depot store were a lot better, no defects noted.

These counter tops turned out much better than I thought they would! There was some splitting at the ends of the pieces so I just trimmed where I needed to. The maple is extremely heavy, but otherwise easy to work with. I also used them for floating shelves.

We are using the butcher block for our kitchen counters. It’s beautiful! High quality. Couldn’t be happier with it.

Tried to write a review of what actually happened to my piece but HD continually rejects my reviews. Made first cut and piece broke in half, made a second cut and same thing. I have attached pictures to show what happened.

The Unfinished Maple 4 ft. L x 30 in. was the perfect size for a standing desk. The wood is beautiful unfinished, stained or clear coated. I used a Walnut stain and semi gloss coat to finish. The desk is beautiful and solid! The customer service was amazing too. The first block arrived with a dent in the top which may have occurred during delivery (the piece is quite heavy). I called customer service and they were quick to get another block on the way. Misty was very helpful and followed up with me to make sure I was happy. Thanks!

The butcher block was beautiful. I finished it with six coats of urethane.

this countertop has started to separate after 3 weeks. yes, I did treat with oil first. I literally haven't even cut anything on it. I'm not even done with the kitchen remodeling, so we haven't even used it. garbage.

The top we got was in excellent condition. I had to knock a star off though as there was a weird stain on the good side of the top that didn't show itself until stain was applied. I spent hours sanding that out and then restaining before poly. Overall I think we got a good one. Beware it's longer than 8 foot by 2 inches IIRC.

After my plumber installed the countertop and sink I see in the center front two huge wood filled pockets and a crack along the front row of joined boards. Crap quality!

This was an excellent solution and beautiful solution at a reasonable price. A few minor blemishes but nothing that stop us from using it.

Loved it when I first got it but 2 months later it is beginning to split at the seams in multiple places.

The entire 39”x 72” island split apart from the top into two pieces as i was unwrappin the last plastic and the 10x 72” section thst separated fell apart onto my feet, sharp side hitting like a guilitine. It was delivered via UPS and so heavy i had to help him get it out of the truck. It was too heavy for his dollie so i had to help carry it up the driveway. No way i can repack this monstrosity and it sure won’t do me any good in two pieces...like it almost made my foot as well! Nightmare experience and dont know how to get this thing out of here and get my money back! No way can i take it to a local Home Depot. Terrible!

The coutertop was packaged extremely well. I was afraid that there could have been dings/scratches on it, considering how heavy it was and the fact that the outer cardboard had some damage & tears on it. But when I unpacked it, that was not the case, it was perfect. As other folks have said, one side is the "good" side and the other is not. We used this in our laundry room. We cut the countertop into two pieces, a 5' piece for above the washer & dryer, and the remaining 3' piece was for the sink. We finished it ourselves on both sides and all edges using Minwax Satin Poly. The top surface and edges received four coats, using #0000 steel wool between coats. We are also purchasing the 4' version of the same, to be cut down and used for the top of a shoe bench in the laundry room.

This is a beautiful butcher block. It comes unfinished but doesn’t need much other then a light sanding and finish. I used the butcher block to customize some open shelving in my kitchen. It’s a solid piece and I highly recommend it.

Amazing product! My butcher block came packaged nicely and was flawless. It feels great and looks even better. They're not exactly the same on each side so you can choose the side based on the amount of character you want to show. I was using these for shelves and had no problem cutting it. Would buy again.

The countertop, while having the expected blemishes and knotholes on the bottom side, also had two blemishes that were filled with only a partial color match on the top. The bullnose on the edges was not routed, but hand-sanded and not uniform. The corners were not perfectly square, but had extra sanding that slightly rounded the contour. Average.

The piece itself is beautiful. Unfortunately, I needed to order a second piece due to the odd size of my island (75”), and the second piece contained strips that were not the same width as the first. One was 1” and the other was 1.5”, so I’m having to return the second one and go a different route. I wish they were produced in a standardized manner, it’s very difficult to maneuver to return it.
