This HDX 4 Gal. Backpack Sprayer is a must if you do any yard spraying. The backpack sprayer once on your back is mighty comfortable. The side handle is so easy to keep the tank pressurized eliminating stopping to repressurize. The tank holding 4 gallons is not overweight to cattr on the back. The spray wand is very well sized to make even spot spraying very accurate, eliminating over spray.

This thing works perfectly. I have owned a two gallon electric sprayer in the past. This one is far superior. It takes about 10 pumps of the handle to get it going and then a few more here and there as you spray. Its pump bar can be attached on the left or right side to suit your preference. It does not require much effort to pump the handle. It is very well-designed. It does not leak or drip in the slightest. It may be a little heavy if one were to fill it all the way, but I use maybe two gallons at a time and the weight does not bother me at all. If you need to spray your garden this product is the way to go. At around $60 this is pretty hard to beat.

This sprayer does an excellent job! Straight out of the box, attach the pump handle and the wand, and you’re ready to go! And with a four-gallon capacity, you can mix up some strong weed killer and cover a lot of territory. Since I’m the neighborhood retired DIY, I get my neighbors yards as well as my own, so this does a great job without having to be refilled constantly. The pressure handle can be attached on the left or right, whichever you prefer - a great feature. I always put in the water first, and then the weed killer, to prevent foaming and an incorrect reading on the fill level. And the pump creates pressure very quickly, I was very satisfied that with only a few occasional pumps you could easily keep it going. It has the standard nozzle, counter clockwise for stream, clockwise for broad coverage or mist. And the wand has a very secure ‘return’ position, so that it stops the flow quickly, without dripping. Works very well. Only minor flaw (in my opinion), was the markings on the tank to show fill level. They are on the inside of the tank and very difficult to read. Larger markings on the side of the tank would have been very popular, I believe.

Yeah- no more lugging around our big, heavy sprayer. This backpack sprayer is so very handy. We are an elderly couple and hauling our heavy 2 gallon sprayer in our south Florida heat has been a challenge. All our heat, rain and humidity means bugs, bugs, bugs and we end up spraying non-toxic, natural chemicals a lot to keep our plants healthy. Enter our new backpack sprayer and problem of lugging a heavy sprayer around is solved. This sprayer holds up to 4 gallons although we will probably continue to fill it with 2 gallons at a time because that is enough for our medium sized garden . The straps are padded and the shoulder and waist strap all make the backpack comfortable to use. The sprayer nozzle is fully adjustable from heavy stream to fine mist, Best of all the sprayer has a lockdown switch to use on continuous spray which will save our thumbs from having to apply constant pressure. The nozzle wand is long and has an excellent reach. We can put the pump handle on either our left or right side and since I an left handed and my wife is right handed this is a great little feature. Really like this sprayer and highly recommend it. Can't think of a single feature I would change. Oh- it has a filter in the opening when you refill it that keeps out debris that might clog the nozzle - how handy is that?

The Home Depot Heavy-Duty Backpack Sprayer has a large tank opening for easy filling with a fine mesh filter. The padded shoulder straps with a belt and tank are designed to fit your back firmly. The spray wand can be used for left- and right-handed spraying and the hose exits the tank in the rear lower middle for easy swap from either side and has adjustable nozzle for stream choices. Suitable for use with all liquids except bleach. There is a Lock-on flow control for easy no tension spraying. The hand lever pressure pump is easy to pump. The pump handle is only friction attached to the pump. Breaks down easily for best storage.

I am delightfully surprised at how nice this sprayer is. I especially like the pump feature which unlike so many other sprayers, only pumps up an internal smaller tank making pumping quick and easy. My old sprayer took about 60-70 pumps if I had 2 gallons in a 3 gallon pumper, while this unit takes about 7-9 pumps to start working with 2 gallons of the 4 gallon capacity in it. It was a very smart way to make the unit easy to use while on your back. The pump handle fits a octagon fitting on either side of the unit, so you can adjust the handle easily to any position which is comfortable for your arms. It has a great fine mist sprayer adjustment, and also can do full stream hose type squirting if needed. I would only worry about the quality of some of the components as to their longevity due to fairly obvious mediocre quality. I do however recommend this as a very functional backpack sprayer.

I've got a clover infestation that chokes my Kentucky blue grass on my backyard lawn. I'm planning to use this sprayer to cover clover spots with tenacity+dye. I also have 2 gallon old air pump sprayer, but that uses air pressure to push water out of the tank. It's old and leaky and I need to pump like crazy to get decent flow out of it. This backpack sprayer has piston pump that pushes liquid. I believe its usable life will be much longer than air-pressure pump sprayer. I'm left handed and this sprayer allows to mount pump handle on right or left side. Hose is attached in the middle and spray wand can be in left or right hand as well. Wand has pressure and spray pattern regulators as well as trigger valve. Everything is o-ringed which is great as o-rings can be replaced to stop leaks in the future. Base is metal and will protect tank/pump bottom if you drop it on asphalt. Straps are padded and there's 3rd horizontal strap that connects vertical straps (under pads) and doesn't let them to slide off the shoulders. Since pump transfers liquid, there's removable and reusable plastic filter under the cap on top. It prevents solid debris from damaging piston pump.

What a welcome sight the arrival of this was. It's well made. The strainer in the tank was an awesome idea. It will definitely save the pump from being damaged by small debris that may be blowing in the wind. The handle can be used left or right handed. Capacity is four gallons. Spray patterns is fully adjustable. Best part is I can say goodbye to these fireants. I'm very pleased with it.

I just bought yesterday. The handle is flimsy. It felt like it could break after 20 pumps. Hopefully it last for next use.

have had this for just about a month and haven't really used it very often. today the clasps where the pump locks on the handle for easy carrying broke. not one, but both of them. had this cost more I'd be losing it. guess you get what you pay for. still works, for now, but have to carry it around with the pump handle extended. guess that's next to break. won't be buying another off these to replace it either. in fact, considering the obvious inferior design flaws they should be half the current asking price. they'd still make a profit and no one would care if they broke after a month.

After noticing a previous review about the open top on the handle, I used something that I had here at home to wrap around the handle that would cushion the open top edges... See photos. Easy to assemble. Really like the depressurize feature on the side of the tank! Be sure to watch the video on this item... good info. First use, sprayer performed well, spraying wide and narrow by adjusting the tip. Hope it continues to work for a few years... make sure to flush the unit with only water after chemical use.

Used once with water and vinegar and next day would not pump up withjust water

I bought this because it was cost effective, however; the handle design is terrible. the handle/pump lever has an open top so when you grip it to pump you have 2 ridges digging into the palm of your hand. This feels absolutely terrible the more pressure you pump and resistance builds increasing the discomfort to your hand. I will have to find a way to round off the pump handle so that it's less intrusive.

I have a sprayer identical in every way but the labeling and colors. It is obviously made by the same manufacturer on the same production line. At first it was extremely handy and a good value, a modestly small but maneuverable little sprayer that didn't cost much. But it failed in a fashion I have never encountered in another pump sprayer at any price point. After a month or two of regular use, the sprayer developed a leak right near the bottom, where the vertical side turns to go under the bottom of the vessel. You'd expect a leak almost anywhere else at any of the joints, not here where there are no joints but there it is. I recommend that if you prefer a plastic bottle sprayer, look for one that has NO sharp turns in its shape, only rounded contours at all points. I may be able to fix this one but for what I paid and considering the material, it may not be worth the trouble or even possible.

Nice size unit. Easy to pump up the pressure. Shoots out about 15 ft. I did use mine for bleach which is not recommended but my application was only about 2-3% bleach, remainder water. Worked fine. I have a sand beach ( I live on a small lake) and I spray the beach with the bleach/water solution to control the weeds.

There are two "mono valve" rubber gaskets on the plunger part. After 2 uses, there was no more pump pressure. Had to disassemble the shaft to find this sad little mono valve in chunks. No replacement with the sprayer, just a cheap item that will break fairly quickly.

The variable nozzle made it easy to evenly apply deck sealant.

I wanted a cheap and efficient way to shower while tent camping. This model of pump sprayer was easy to convert into a shower with 3 easy and cheap additional parts. I highly recommend if you are looking for a great camp shower hack

I went to pick up my item, when I came home as soon as I opened the box I saw it was used I am very dissapointed and is not working properly.

It’s a great product the problem I have is that the nozzle and sprayer mechanism get clogged and fails but still overall a good product a great price and i have purchase several over the years I’m liking the new design

Using pumpers for spraying first defender to fight COVID19 at Manufacturing facility. Employees are using these on every shift for sanitization process. Very easy to use. No clogging of sprayer and can easily adjust spray width in seconds. Thank you!

I really like the pressure relief valve. The sprayer and hose connector are both plastic and their durability will be tested.

I got these to put disinfectant in to spray down the office. Works great, I really like the the pressure release valve.

This pump sprayer worked great at applying sealer to my paver Drive way.

I purchased this item (I thought new) and got it home only to find it is missing the pump/handle and maybe more. Given the pandemic, I haven't been able to return this inexplicable nonfunctional gear yet.
