Don't expect much quality at a cheap price. Mine has a sticky gauge. Tap it and the needle sometimes jumps several psi. At least it doesn't leak. Should help my pipes pass test.

Gets the job done, passed my inspection
This gauge does what it's supposed to do. I just ran all new gas lines in my house and used this gauge for my pressure test. I did leave air in the pipes for a few days until inspection, and the pressure did vary based on temperature. I was able to find one leak based on a 2 psi drop over a day. Definitely not a contractor grade gauge that will survive being thrown in a tool bag, but it will get the job done.

This was suggested and located where the gas flex lines are located. I recommend using a gauge with a psi of 4 or 5. With 15 psi you do not even see a reading with psi below .5 psi. If you are testing for leaks on a home with added pressure... this unit will suffice.

The purpose of this gauge is to conduct a "pressure test" on your gas pipe system after you have installed or modified it. This gauge is intended to detect a loss of pressure after you pressurize your system to 15 psi. For example, fit the gauge to your gas pipe system. Using the Shrader valve, add air to the system using a tire pump or air hose. Pressurize the system to 15 psi. Remove the air hose from the valve. Set a timer. If, after minutes, you can see a detectable drop in the pressure reading on the gauge, this indicates that the system is not holding pressure. Then you must locate and correct the leak. If after 30 minutes, there is no detectable loss of pressure, then you can consider it a pass. If we can help to provide you with more information, please give us a call. It help me save hundreds of dollars! As a home owner you have the right to pressure test your own gas line if you know what your doing. The plumbers want to charge $500 or more for this check when you can do it yourself for the cost of this item and a couple of other couplings under $40 and the permit of $88 from city of Garland Texas.

    Poor quality
Concur with the other 1 star reviews. Faceplate easily pops off, chances of having a leaky stem or gauge connection are high, numbers plate was bent with the needle rod pressed against it. You can’t reliably test for leaks with these and it will lead to more frustration than anything if you don’t have a working one. Took 3 gauges for me to get a test completed.

      Very poor quality
Home Depot should not carry this inferior product. Purchased to test the homeless. Gas line. The valve leaked. Purchased a second unit and it leaks. Over 50 percent of the reviews show this test kit leaks. This is dangerous and should be pulled from the shelves.

        Leak Causer!
Pressure tested my gas line with this particular gauge which held for (3) days until suddenly I would start losing 1 psi per day... I hired two plumbers, spent hundreds of dollars to find out why my gas line was leaking. Turns out this low quality fitting was the culprit. The more you use this valve the faster it leaks. My second test leaked 3 psi per day and my third leaked 5 psi per day. If you're lucky you'll get one good test out of it. Do not trust this product. And yes, I used pipe dope and Teflon tape on all connections (which all passed a leak detector test and plumbers inspections).

I am satisfied. I wish the gauge was perhaps 50 psi, but I used it to successfully to dry pressure test a new heating loop.

nice compact test assembly, fits in toolbox well. needs 3/4" male pipe stub to attach to, so if your appliance has only 1/2" gas pipe outlet, you'll need a 1/2" x 3/4" F x F reducer coupler & 3/4" nipple. Our company typically tests to 5 psi for 1/2 hr or 10 psi for 15 minutes.

Unit leaked at the base of the gauge
I leaked tested all the connections and all of them were good went back and leak checked the gauge and found it was leaking at the base of gauge. Waste of time and money!!!!

            Patience test not pressure
Don't waste your time with this POS. The Schrader valve stem was set too deep so I couldn't even pressurize the system. Had to take the gauge off the system and rig up a way to back out the valve stem. That wasted 30+ minutes b/c I didn't have the right tool and had to McIver it. Once I could pressurize the run of gas pipe, it leaked! Yikes, don't want to blow up the house! Oh, wait a minute, it leaks from the 3/4 in fitting on the gauge. And from around the Shrader valve stem. [deleted expletives] Yeah, save yourself the waste of time and frustration and spend real money on a real gauge. Or roll the dice and buy this and hope you're one of the lucky guys who got one that was assembled correctly and machined right so that it works right out of the box.

Leaks. Will not hold pressure. Only put 10 psi in it and it leaked out in 5 minutes. Would like better quality

First one leaked internally. Though it was an anomaly. Exchanged for another one. It too leaked. Very bad for gas pipe leak checking as I chased pipe leaks all over the house and then found the test gauge was the leak source.

The attached fitting with universal valve made it convenient and simple to pressurize and depressurize a low cost pressure system for leak testing. A nice addition to my tool chest.

I got it off the shelf at the store and it helped me test my new gas line. I found it was leaking and used bubble solution to find a leak that was in the wall of a new elbow piece! Once i replaced this the gauge showed that the system was air tight. Gave me piece of mind!
