The best recessed lighting option for our shallow joists in our basement. I've been able to rapidly install 12 of these with only a moderate-level of DIY know-how. I'd recommend buying them in the case, because you can always find a garage or workspace to put your extras!

Sloped ceiling
The short ceiling to roof clearance I was working with was easily solved by this equally short depth can for my new led retrofit.

Replacement Lights
Ordered 16 Halo recessed lights, my order was received on-time and in good shape. The electrian installed all 16 in two days, in 4 rooms and they look great, added the right amount of addition light that we were looking for. GREAT BUY

Perfect for between 2x8 joists. Easy to install. The junction box and connectors make it simple to connect the wiring to it. Easy to attach whichever cover you decide to go with. The bulb receiver can be adjusted easily to make sure whichever bulb you are going with is at the correct depth, or exposure.
The only issue is that there is no padding/protection placed inside the box. The housings shift around inside the box while it is being transported or moved around, and the brackets for attaching them to the joists can bend.

Poorly designed
1. The box is too small if you have to make more than 1 connection
2. Sometimes the orange connectors were really stubborn
3. Some of the clips that hold the unit in the ceiling simply don't work and we had to steal ones from other cans.

Easy
This product was easy to install. Is made well and fit perfectly in needed areas and the adjustment was wide enough for lining up the lights where I needed them.

Received lighting
My wife and I bought a home that needed some updates. We added 3 in the dining room and 5 in the kitchen. After putting up the new sheet rock we decided to add 3 more. So I bought these cut in fixtures. They were very easy to install.

As advertised
Low profile in the ceiling and wiring harness makes this a breeze to install. The adjustable arms clipped onto the drop ceiling frame for a well supported installation. The arms can also be nailed into a joist.

Halo recessed lighting
Purchased 9 halo aluminum recessed lighting fixtures for new construction. These were shallow housings and allowed use in 2 x 6 construction. These fixtures were well made and extremely user friendly. They have improved the electrical ease of connecting since I last installed similar fixtures. Recommend this model very highly.

No big issues. I drill the holes with a 6' cicular saw found out that was too smaal, but besides that error no issues.

Great light
My electrician recommend we only buy halo housings. They worked out great. Ended up installing 20 cans. No issues at all. Great construction.

Excellent Product
LED lighting in recessed cans is a very clean look that I like.
LED lighting is not cheap to install, and if installation cost is important, use another product.
If you consider lifetime cost and reduction of bulb replacement, I think it's a better product. Bulb replacement is an issue to me because of high ceilings.
Also there is an LED product now that is designed for high ceilings, and the light is much brighter.
The remodel product is much nicer to install due to reduced damage to drywall. If you have drywall removed, use the new construction product. I use both products depending on whether drywall is in place or not.

Easy to use
This recessed light fixture is easy to install. The low profile makes it ideal for low clearance areas. Expandable rails allows for mounting between joist. The versatile mount allows you to use the captive nails in each arm, or to use the screw holes provided. For narrower joist spacing you can break off the rail at the scored marks. The only dislike is that the scores for breaking the rails needs to be deeper as one side does not want to snap off cleanly. Wiring is easy with push wire nuts provided allows you to land 3 sets of wires inside the electrical enclosure. I plan to purchase this item again for other rooms I am renovating.

Clips aren't so bad
I got these to replace the non-IC cans that were essentially the same size in my living room. The remodel that was done before I moved in decided to save a few bucks (I mean very few, like $20) and installed non-IC cans into an insulated ceiling. Grrr...
Anyway, these are pretty good quality and the push in connects are really a nice addition. The clips aren't so bad. You can bend them outwards a little if you are having trouble. I just use a flat head screw driver and push in and up and they go in with some effort. I don't want it to be too easy as you want them to stay put.

Remodel is never easy
The engineer at Halo needs to spend one day installing these units. The clips are of poor design. One helpful hint: after the clip has engaged use a small sheet metal screw to hold the clip in place.
An open baffle is required with the shallow housing. You will have to go with the open style baffle.

Easy install
Quick wiring makes this much easier to install. the only thing to watch out for are the clips to mount against the dry wall. Not all of the clips "locked" in place nicely.
