Customer Reviews for Hampton Bay 8 ft. Straight Laminate Countertop in Textured Typhoon Ice with Full Wrap Ogee Edge and Integrated Backsplash

Selected 8 ft and 4 ft sections for an 11 ft-6 in galley kitchen countertop because they did not come longer than 10 ft. Took the 4 ft section with me and the 8 ft section was to be put in will call for my contractor to pick up. Obviously the 8 ft WAS NOT the one I selected as when it was brought to my house the colors of the two sections did not match, but the project had to go on. Poor quality control at the factory or mess up at the Topsham Maine store? Don't know but won't buy there again.

I cut it into two pieces to make counters for both bathrooms. I kept the bullnose front edge and cut off the backsplash since the old splash was taller and this wouldn't have covered the drywall marks from the old splash. I also used vinyl peel and stick tile to create side and backsplashes–no one can tell the difference and everyone thinks it's real tile until I tell them it's vinyl. I used a Rubbermaid shelf product (smooth finished particle board) and ripped it to the desired height to create a substrate for the vinyl tiles since they won't stick to a textured wall and they look more like real tile since the substrate gives it some dimension (about 5/8ths thick). The shelf was much cheaper than the PVC product of similar size as my cut shelf pieces. The old counter went over the tank of the toilet (terrible design) so that's why you see the splash extending over to the shower, just to cover the imperfections left in the drywall, and it looks nice.

I've used this material in the past for L-shaped counters and it worked out very well, but when my wife wanted a U-shaped continuous counter for our renovation I was really worried. Comparing the cost of stone to these pre-formed counters was 1/10th the price so we mustered our courage and went with the Hampton Bay. This designed called for the back splash to be cut off one long run of counter and a butt joint to join the two L-shaped sections at the center line of the sink. Joining at the sink center reduced the amount of visible joint, I took my time working the joint until the front and back fit as perfectly as possible then fixed the counters into final position. We still can't believe how much this counter looks like the higher priced stone product.

Love this look, it is so versatile

I recommend this but...only if you are careful to check the fit on two mitered pieces before you buy. I mean literally fit them together in the store to see if they fit right. A long straight piece will be easy but our mitered front was off by quite a bit when the rest was perfect. We had already cut or might have brought it back. Very disappointed but far too exhausted to get another piece and try again.So I'll end up painting the edge. Sad over this. PS. I will never try to do my own counters again. If you can hire someone, do it.

This is a great product for a quick remodel. It is easy to maneuver, cut, mount & clean. The look is very nice & goes with many back-splashes & complements several fixtures. Not only would I buy this again, I did for or new home. I just got a different color.

Replaced all the kitchen countertops for a customer and they liked this laminate coutertop because it has the look and texture of granite and is a sturdy for a big upgrade for a fraction of the price

Great alternative for a quick countertop, it looks nice and is fairly durable. We wanted to add more storage (behind doors so we could hide our junk) and have a built in look so here's what we did; We mounted tall pantry cabinets on either end of a wall, then 24" base cabinets (with drawers) beside the pantry's (screwed them together so they're seamless), and then this countertop mounted on top of the base cabinets, and running from pantry cabinet to pantry cabinet. We furred the counter top up with 3/4" stock on top of the base cab's so the bull nose would still allow the top drawers to open. Not quite finished with room #1 yet but it will turn out just fine, and all for under 1K (see attached photo's). Only took a day and a half out of a weekend and was a fun project. Doing it for another room in the house now, I'll attach a few picts of this too to show some of the easy steps it takes.

Looks very real. Hard to tell it's not granite. I love the way my kitchen looks now. The Tphoon Ice countertop was easy to install. The hard part was removing the sink! I purchased the matching sheet of laminate (special order) for my backsplash, which has to installed.

The countertop sidesplash does not currently line up with the contours of this profile. The timeline of this project was crucial so a return was not optional. I would not purchase this a good again unless it's for a very, very low end project.

Really brightened up my little kitchen...took it from the 80's looking kitchen to a brand new 2018 one..along with my new stainless LG applicances. You would think it was totally new. Couldn't be happier.

Easy to work with, quality and look great in kitchen.

This product is not necessarily for the high end home. Nevertheless, it gives most projects the high dollar look. I have used these laminates in many refurbishment’s and fixer uppers. It can be easily cut to length. Makes for a fast install. Great value.

It's a beautiful countertop and goes so well with my lights grey cabinets and white walls. Perfect for remodeling and ancient house

We got these countertops to redo our kitchen and they turned. You get the look of granite without the price tag! These were easy for my contractor to work with.

The countertop doesn't look exactly like the picture but that worked out in my favor, as it matched my cabana perfectly.

??Just what was needed. Not too pricey.

My purchase experience was not good. All 4 counters at my local store were badly damaged. The Customer Service person was kind enough to place an order for me, to have one delivered. Unfortunately, she thought if she ordered it online it would come from a warehouse. She also did nt think to tell me ( or she did not know) that the "delivery window" was until 7 pm that night and that if "signature required" was not chosen, the merchandise would be left outside. Unfortunately when I got to my office and checked on the delivery, it said "stopping in the Bluftton store to pick up." So, knowing that all 4 pieces there were damaged, I called and cancelled the delivery. When I called to cancel, the person suggested that I actually go to a store that had a number of them in stock, so I could choose one that was not damaged. This took half a day to accomplish. So, while the eventual product is fine, the whole experience was not. The better plan to my thinking is for the management of the Bluffton store being aware of the damaged merchandise and taking whatever steps necessary to get it replaced then offereing to deliver it would have been the better path.

Very low quality product

I would give the product a good only review. The counter top is roughly put together not quality workmanship. The counter top is little warped had to weight it down on the ends to help make it lay flat to complete the installation. We haven't installed the end caps yet so i might respond to the end cap installation later. Then give my complete review on the item.
