We're sorry to hear that you had this issue. As stated in the product overview, th fan and remote ship separately. The most important thing to note when installing the remote is that the fan's pull chains must be set prior to using the remote. If the fan's pull chains are not set correctly, the remote will not be able to control the fan. Prior to using the remote, the fan speed pull chain must be set to high (1 pull) and the light chain set to on using the pull chain (1 pull). Once the chains are set, the remote will take over and the pull chains should not be used. Also, make sure that the wires are connected correctly and did not loosen during the installation. Please make sure that the dip switch settings in the remote match the dip switch settings in the receiver. If those tips do not resolve the issue, pease call Hampton Bay customer service at 1-855-HD-HAMPTON (1-855-434-2678) and ask to speak to a manufacturer's representative and they will be able to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
