We have 2 kids and 2 dogs. I bought this unit primarily for my living room where our family gathers most. I love how quickly it heats up and how easy it is to clean my floors. I have two complaints: 1.) I feel like a bad parent when I see the dirty water I am dumping out. I can't believe all of that dirt came out of my floor! 2.) My wife has talked me into doing the floors every month now. (The darn thing is so easy and cleans so well that it made me look "too good" at it - so it is my full time job now!) I will never pay somebody to clean my carpets again. I don't care how many rooms I get for free - the Max Extract is available any time I want it.

I have owned a Hoover Wide Path 6500 for 10+ years. It has NEVER needed repair! I have been wanting to get a New model for a while. After reading many reviews all over the net I decided on this model. It seems to get the best reviews and is priced right. I used it for the first time this weekend. It is much lighter then the 6500 but isn't as wide. The brush speed blows away the older model. It did a better job on the carpets then the old model. The tanks are so easy to remove to empty and refill. I can see if your rushing or impatient you could crack something plastic. So take your time removing & replacing the tanks. It is made of much thinner plastic to make it lighter to use. The instructions say the pull the trigger on the front stroke & on the back stroke as I did. The older model only on the front stroke. It left the carpets more wet then the older model. So next time I will only pull the trigger on the front stroke like the older model to see if it extracts better. The carpets stayed wet for about 8 hours with my dehumidifier running.

We have had some of the older Hoover Steam vac models like the F5808 and F7452900 but this one takes the cake!! Easy maneuverability and lightweight. In the past, the other dirt water tanks had water left over in them and I was afraid of having mold grow in them afterwards....but this tank came apart and was easy clean up and I could really dry it out throughly. My husband even commented how for the first time you could really tell the carpets were cleaned!!

We have used Bissell carpet cleaners in the past and they were always a hassle to set up and use. In the past with other cleaners you always had to lay the cleaner back all the way to remove the tank to empty it, with this one it was a snap, just lift the tanks out with the product sitting upright. Emptying the tank was easy now that they have put an big spout on the back of the tank where you would expect to find it but it was never there on other products. When it was time to clean up afterwards (this is the step I dreaded the most from past experiences) in preperation for storing the product, I was extremely surprised how easy this was. I have to applaud Hoover and their Engineers with this product. Tanks can easily be removed without having to lay the entire product down flat, top of dirty water tank easily comes apart so you can clean the entire inside of the tank. This one feature is well worth the money because in the past the tank was not accessible for cleaning so you always left some dirt and water that would eventually start to stink to high heaven the next time you used the cleaner. You can also remove the front nozzle cover to clean up any dirt or hair that always seems to get stuck in other products. Lastly, the brush assembly on this product easily pops off so you can thoroughly rinse them and remove any hair that gets wrapped up in the bristles. The brush then easily snaps right back into place without having to worry about any tools or latches. I was so happy with the maintenece on this product I almost forgot to mention how well it actually cleaned my carpets, Carpets look as good as new and again I dont have to worry about this cleaner smelling the next time I pull it out to use it. Nice job Hoover!!!

One thing I like to do before the holidays are really clean my house. I know it seems like a double negative to clean both before and after the holidays but I don't mind. I like my guests to see a clean house and my family enjoy a clean house over the stressful holidays and then afterwards I clean again to start off the new year! One area not everyone thinks of is your floors, mainly carpeting because it can be both expensive and time consuming to clean. The Hoover Max Extract Multi-Surface Pro makes me love cleaning my carpets! It just works so good and leaves my carpeting so clean and fresh smelling. Plus the cost (around $250) makes it reasonable to own. The after-smell of the detergent actually lasted a few days and it is a smell I am hooked on! Before the Max Extract I'd use a small spot cleaner, but with three kids my whole carpeting depending needs a good cleaning more often than not. Setting up the Hoover Max Extract is so easy. Just pulled it out of the box, put in one screw for the handle and I was ready to go. Just filled up the tank with water and detergent and turn on. There are only a few settings so it is not confusing but still has everything I need. Since our house has both hardwood floors and carpeting, it was great to fid out that I can use the Max Extract on both surfaces with just changing out the detergent. I used this cleaner on our playroom carpeting immediately because it needed the most help. The stains in there were all set in and I didn't think they were going anywhere. After a few swipes of the Max Extract my carpeting was on its way. After letting it sit overnight my carpeting looked brand new and not way old (not sure on the age since we just bought the house three years ago.) My husband could not believe how well the cleaner worked either! I cannot wait to do the rest of our house now! I even used the cleaner on the hardwood in my kitchen and it left my floors squeaky clean! It was so nice that the cleaner came with both detergents so I was ready for whatever floor needed cleaning. The bottles of detergent are also full-sized and not just samples. You also get a squeegee tool for your hard surface floors, an upholstery tool for your furniture and a SpinScrub Hand tool for your stairs (and for tough spots.) I used the SpinScrub tool so far on my stair and it was amazing how it lifted off the dirt! Overall the Hoover Max Extract is awesome! I highly recommend it. It is so nice to have one cleaner for so many different uses - carpet, hard surface floors, couch cleaning, stair cleaning, it even can be used to pick up spills! You may not realize how dirty your floors or carpets are either until you see the dirty water tank - yuck!

only used the piece of junk four or five times. the suction on the main unit doesn't suck in a dependable fashion. the hand held scrubber suction is a joke. it barely sucks and it is this suction that is supposed to move the srubbers. why didn't they make the scrubbers electric instead of relying on the suction to move the scrubbers. piece of junk. i would be embarresed to put my name on this piece of junk, why isn't hoover embarresed. i'll never buy anthing from hoover. [*] piece of junk.

We just purchased this item today and used it to clean the very dirty carpets in our living and family rooms. We like at the lake so we have alot of traffic in and out of the house. We also have three dogs that live in the house and we have horses so we are always tracking in and out to the barn with dirty feet. The Hoover Max Extract 77 exceeded our expectations! It took 2 hours to clean the two rooms including vacuuming and moving the furniture. we have had our carpets professionally cleaned in the past, but the employees always wanted us to move the furniture before they came. With the home machine, we were able to move the furniture to one side of the room, clean that side and move the furniture back to clean the other side. The spin brush technology along with the clean surge feature are amazing! It was so easy to remove even old, set in stains. We were able to remove pet stains, dirt from high traffic areas like doorways, even grease that was tracked in from the garage. The separate tanks for clean and dirty water were great. The tanks are easy to fill, remove, carry and clean. Dont waste your money on one of those "other" brands that has a plastic bladder inside the tank for the clean water. Having 2 completely separate tanks is the way to go. This machine is definitely worth the money. Highly recommended!

I put this product to the test at my friends house. she has 4 young kids and 2 dogs and i was so impressed with the efficiency and ability to have kids running around. its great.

I had a Hoover Legacy and the power head stopped working and would not spin. I should have taken time to replace. Instead I ran out and purchased a remanufactured MAX extract. I paid [$] for the remanufactured model. The cleaning solution will not spray due to trigger problem. I don't find it has the suction needed. I am stuck with this as I cannot find receipt and store will not allow return even though it's been 10 days. Hoover customer service was really great and directed me to a service center. I will get it repaired but I would recommend another model based on suction and the short time the tank empties. Seems to empty too often requiring multiple trips for one room.

We bought this on Saturday at[@]and the price was amazing since it was on clearance. I love the way my carpet looks and it did not leave my carpet wet and smelly for a day or two until it dried. It dried the same day which was awesome and the house smelled great!
