I love this fan but the light cover blocks too much light. It should be white not beige frosted glass. Stupid design flaws

Great Fan. Provides a lot of circulation in a small to average sized bedroom. Very quiet.

I purchased 5 Hunter Newsome 42-in ceiling fans primarily because the specification says it is quiet. I installed one but found the motor wobbles and makes quite uncomfortable noise. I confirmed I put all parts (mounting bracket, motor, fan boards, lights etc.) correctly and firmly per the instructions. The noise comes from the motor wobbling inside its house.

The remote was an add-on, not manufactured with the fan, but works all right except that the buttons are hard to feel-a raised button would be more helpful. The smaller fan blades are fine for the over bed installation and makes the room look larger after the large broken fan was replaced.

I love my ceiling fan but we have high ceilings and the amber globe it came with does not produce enough light. I would hate to have to buy another ceiling fan as this one is only a little over a year old. Is it possible to buy a clear globe or any other type other than the amber?

I replaced two ceiling fans with lights, with two Newsome Low Profiles. It's about a year later and I'm very happy with these. They are quiet, reliable and don't wobble.

I had these fans installed in 3 bedrooms, the largest being approx 12x14. The low profile design is perfect for my low (92") ceilings. There are two blade finish options, both dark brown but one is more traditional and one is more rustic/farmhouse. The light isn't terribly bright, but the fan is nice and quiet. Exactly what I needed!

It's BEAUTIFUL, and efficient!

It is a beautiful fan that puts out a lot of air and the pull chains pull very smoothly. I'm very impressed.

I wish there was an "undecided" regarding whether or not I would recommend this fan. On the positive side, it is very quiet and moves a good bit of air. Negative side is the light fixture wobbles a lot on high speed. Low and medium speed are fine. I don't use high speed so I'm okay. Also, the globes are very fragile. One globe broke when the electrician tightened the screw. I bought two of these fans and in one room I did not use the light fixture so I was okay. My electrician said there was no way to tighten everything to prevent the wobbling at high speed. So final word is I love the fans except on high speed.

Easy to install and works great! The short blades work for our washer/dryer mud room. The heavy pulls on the chain/switch was a nice added feature we were not expecting. Working great for 2weeks and our expectations like all Hunter Fans in our home to work for many years to come.

We replaced the old fan / light in our guest room with this fan. It is beautiful in the room. The light is bright but not harsh in the small room, and the fan on high definitely cools the room. It's stylish and modern, with a choice of fan blade colors (blades are reversible). We are very happy with it.

3 Newsome 42-inch low profile fans for bedrooms with LED lights do just what we wanted.

At first, I thought the light would not be bright enough, but after a few minutes warm up, they are fine. Bought 2 this size for kitchen and living room. Quiet and move air well.

Installed this fan with light kit about a week and a half ago. It's pretty quiet and moves the air sufficiently. The components seem to be of good quality and all arrived in good condition. Our only complaint is that one of the screw holes was not properly drilled/threaded so our upper switch housing is only secured by 2 of the 3 required screws despite the safety warning that all 3 need to be properly secured to prevent the switch housing fixture from falling. We tried everything we could to get a screw to go in, but it was not possible. I also wish we had seen this fan in a store before buying. It is really beefy. The enormous lighting fixture dwarfs the short little paddles. It has an "old-fashioned", almost Victorian look to it. Would have chosen something sleeker for this small, teenagers bedroom. Even in our pictures it looks better than it does in person. Every time I walk past the door all I see is this enormous fixture.

The fan and light work great and look great, especially since it's a low ceiling and this is a space saving fan. Installation was little more complicated than normal, but nothing crazy. Overall I would recommend this fan.

I just had an electrician wire this up and it works great. Super quiet and good fan range for my 8x10 bedroom. The directions look really easy to install. I had an electrician install because I wanted a dimmable/fan control in the wall and needed some different wiring. It took them less than an hour and it was more due to the wall control that I wanted. Looks fantastic. Definitely happy with this.

I had an old ceiling fan in a bedroom that we avoided using because it would wobble so much, and because the buttons on the old fan remote barely worked. This fan is a great replacement. Because it is the direct mount / low profile version, it keeps the fan out of the way with the 8 foot ceiling of the bedroom. I used to think that I had to pay several hundred dollars for a decent ceiling fan, but this seems like a very good fan for the price. Unfortunately, the old mounting box in the ceiling was a standard electrical box, not a ceiling fan rated box. The screw holes on the old box wouldn't fit on the new fan mounting bracket so I had to remove the old box and purchase a Westinghouse fan-rated mounting box from my local Home Depot store. Replacing the box was by far the biggest hassle of the installation. Once I got the proper box installed, the installation was fairly easy. This fan does not come with a remote, which I need for this bedroom, so I installed a "Hampton Bay Premier Universal Ceiling Fan Remote" from Home Depot with this fan. Getting everything installed was very easy, EXCEPT for trying to fit the remote switch unit inside the fan bracket. There is a small slot where you could theoretically put the switch unit, but the short wires on the switch unit made that impossible, so I ended up hot gluing it to the side of the fan bracket, which worked just fine and was much simpler. This fan has zero wobble at any speed, and is silent, except for the gentle sound of the blades pushing the air when on high. The fan comes with two mini CFL bulbs that produce a soft warm light. Like most ceiling fans, the light isn't particularly bright. It's fine for ambient light. The remote control I installed is supposed to support dimming the light, but I couldn't get the bulbs to dim--I am guessing it is because the CFLs don't support dimming, so I'm going to try dimmable LED bulbs. Dimming isn't critical for me, but since the remote supports it, I'd like to get it working. The color is a nice warm white color and has a simple clean look. It is perfect for the bedroom where it is installed.

Hunter Classic Series Newsome Ceiling fan. The 42 inch size is good for small rooms (up to 10 ft by 10 ft) bedrooms, home office, etc. I installed mine in a 10 ft by 10 ft bedroom. It had enough power to keep the air circulating, but if you need more air flow, then step up to the 52 inch version and flush mount. Installation is easy if you are replacing an existing fan (which I was not). In the case of a new fan or replacing a light fixture, you will have to replace the light box with a new fan-approved box. It is simple but does take some effort. Just buy a box kit. My house is only 20 years old but it had a 3-1/2 inch box and I replaced it with a 4 inch box. The fan bracket is set up so you cannot install it in anything less than a 4 inch box. Instructions are good and clear including the part about the ceiling box. All parts are included including a few spares just in case except for the ceiling box. Of course you will need a bunch of basic tools but it is listed in the instructions. The white color goes with any room decor. Most ceilings are white so this blends in nicely. There is a reversible blade feature so you can have light wood grain color on the blades. I prefer the bowl light kit as it gives the fan a cleaner finish and a more controlled light distribution. The light kit uses 2 light bulbs included, which is enough for small rooms. Controls are by pull-chain and standard features and functions (reverse, 3-speed, etc.). Each chain tassel is marked with a picture of a light or a fan to indicate controls. I plan to buy more and outfit the whole house with Hunter Newsome Ceiling Fans.

Everything is packaged securely and conveniently, and the pictorial installation instructions are a breeze to follow. The motor is lightweight and installation can be done easily by one person. Hunter has gratuitously included one extra piece for each hardware item. The blades for this particular fan are reversible for white or light wood and the spin is reversible and runs smooth in either direction. The kit comes with (2) 13W (60W incandescent) 'warm white' CFL bulbs and the globe is a soft cloud-white. This is my 4th Hunter fan and I love the brand. The 13 year old Hunter that I just replaced still works like a charm and will still have a home in the basement ceiling, but it had always been a bit large for a bedroom and the wood blades on the older model don't match my new décor. This classic/basic design fan would also work well with many types of décor in other rooms of the house. This fresh white Hunter fan is a light and airy update to my bedroom. I am enjoying the new look.

APPEARANCE/QUALITY: The style of this 42" fan is very simple and pleasing. It does have some patterning on fan blade attachments but not overdone. The shape of the blades is very pleasing too. Not to feminine or masculine, just the right amount of curve and points. The fan motor housing is large but not out of proportion. It’s well designed with nice venting and logo. The color is almost an exact match to your standard white flat ceiling paint. It blends in very well and does not leave the room feeling like some monstrosity hanging in the middle. It's not a remote fan and still has chains to change mode but I like how they clearly mark the light and fan chains with the weights. It also lends itself to the classic design of the fan. I could see this in many applications. The quality is very nice. INSTALLATION: Installation was a breeze, just read the directions fully cause there are small thing you could miss. I forgot to install the blue wire for the lights and had to take apart and reinstall 90% of what i did. Not a big deal, the whole install took about 45min and that's doing it twice. I like how they give you rubber grommets for the blade attachments, it really seems to take any creek you have on startups and power offs out of it...nice touch hunter. I installed mine directly to a fan box in the ceiling (direct mount) no rod. i also chose to use the lights as shown but if you don't want the lighting they give you a nice block of plate with the stylized company logo on it. Comes with everything you need to mount and two CFL bulbs as well. OUTPUT: I have the fan mounted in a 10' x 12' bedroom for one of my kids. It has plenty of fan and light output, no complaints on performance. The Fan has multiple speeds, forward and reverse. The lights are on/off (no dimming). OVERALL: Great fan overall and would recommend this to anyone looking for a good quality not over designed fan. The only negatives I've seen is when it was first run for a few hours you could smell some motor brake-in and hear a little noise, very minimal but and now is very smooth and quiet (or I should say quieter), but this is being very picky.
