I was trying to dig through a clay and rock mixture with just a shovel and it was very difficult. This pickaxe & mattock works like a charm.

Amazing tool, dig the ditches o needed all by itself!!

The Pick Axe left me disappointed. After just one use, it inexplicably bent its head while tackling some tree roots in my backyard. Its lack of durability is concerning, making it unsuitable for any serious tasks. I wouldn't recommend this product to others wanting a reliable and durable tool.

Excellent pick for the hard ground in my area, great grip, comfortable swing, and plenty heavy to sink in deeper with fewer strokes.

I bought this for digging out a hill in my back yard that is mostly completely compacted clay. I'm about to brake up and pry the large chunks out and then brake them up. The handle dose flex some but it's pretty comfortable to swing. The 5lb is the best for this tougher clay and rock.

it works fine, but as a senior citizen, I would have bought the 2 lb one. I have rocky clay soil so it is hard to dig up but this 5lb one goes right thru the top soil and if there are any rocks or roots it cuts right thru them. I would not recommend it for anyone that is not physically able to lift 75 pounds. I only had to dig a 5' trench 14" deep, and finished in less than 15 minutes. This is a heavy tool, and you should take note of that.
