Great Design, but poorly executed
We were excited to get this for our bathroom remodel. Thinking the name will ensure quality and functionality.
However, i noticed when flushing water, the flow of water does NOT wash all area of bowl. Attaching picture. For $400 i would expect better from a name brand. Definitely will look for another toilet bowl for the other bathroom remodel next month. Not worth the $400

KTChristoff, my name is Jessica with Kohler Customer Service. I am sorry to hear you're having troubles with your Santa Rosa toilet. The chain connecting to the trip lever should be taut. If there is any slack, it should be tightened to remove the slack. The water level can also be checked. The water level in the tank should be at the water line which is marked on the inside back wall of the tank or on the flush valve. The refill tube can be checked as well. It should be connected at both ends connecting the fill valve to the center of the canister valve. If either end is disconnected, it should be pushed back into place. Please also ensure there is water coming out of all of the rim holes around the bowl when the toilet is flushed. Very weak flush
This 1.28 GPF toilet has a very weak flush. It was installed by a professional plumber from Home Depot. When I told him that the flush is weak, he answered that that’s how this toilet model is. Solid waste leaves marks on the toilet after flushing every time. Dissatisfied.

There is often minor adjustments that can be made in your toilet tank to ensure it flushes properly. You will want to ensure the chain that comes off of the canister flush valve is taut while in the resting position. There should be no slack in the chain (1-2 links at most). The black refill tube in the tank should be connected on both ends; from the fill valve to the top of the canister flush valve. The toilet was delivered in perfect condition. The look the fit in my small bathroom is perfect flushing is great. I am going to buy the same toilet to replace the one I have in the other bathroom. Only thing I dislike is the handle not the best quality metal.

Toilet is leaking after installation. I contacted Kohler about a leak from the tank. Kohler sent a new canister seal, but it did not work. The toilet apparently has an internal crack causing the leak. Kohler is sending a new toilet, but it has already been more than 2 weeks and the toilet is still not here.

Do not buy!
After reading reviews, and talking to my professional plumber I decided on this Kohler Santa Rosa. Boy did I make a mistake, the base that the flapper valve ( I know it’s not a flapper valve, not sure what Kohler calls it ) seals to was intentionally damaged from the factory causing the fill valve to never shut off because it never sealed water from leaking into the bowl.
There’s no way this was just an accident, this damage is intentional.
The sealing base is just about impossible to remove, I bet Kohler makes a tool to do it.
Kohler said they will send parts, and pay for a plumber to fix, I asked for email confirmation on the payment to a plumber, it did not come.
So now I have wasted my time buying it, wasted my time returning their defective toilet, and now installing another toilet that I assure you won’t be a Kohler.
Fool me once, shame on you, and in this case, you don’t get another chance.

Great mid-range priced quality piece. Had for a few weeks. Like that it’s one piece, newer tech flushing mechanism, thorough and powerful flushing, chair height, elongated. Only dislike is plastic seat which feels “budget.” Should have been different, higher quality material. I’ll most likely replace the seat.

Stained toilet bowl
I recently purchased a toilet from Home Depot, and I am extremely disappointed with the quality. Upon installation, I noticed several black stains embedded in the ceramic. Despite my best efforts, these stains would not clean off, making the toilet look perpetually dirty and unappealing. This is not the standard I expected from Home Depot, and I regret this purchase. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

Purchased 3 to replace 40 yr old originals with low flush power. These flush like a dream, easy to install, simply hook up, secure. If going up or down stairs, a second person is helpful, 100lbs.

Logo Crooked and Off-Centered
I bought this same model toilet back in 2022 and it’s changed quite a bit since then. First, they added a logo on the toilet seat, which is off-centered crooked. Really Kohler? This isn’t a cheap entry-level toilet. The molded logo is fine, though, but I guess they wanted their name more visible for advertising. Further, the flush water now comes out from a slot to swirl around the bowl, but it makes the porcelain thinner on top. Not sure how well this will hold long-term.

Damaged and Delivery issue
Very bad experiece. Recived damaged product. We paid the delivery fee, however, the product was not carefully packed and delivered well. The only plus was the pleasant HomeDepot customer service representative who processed the return.

Nice Looking Toilet. Fixable Flush Mechanism Flaw
The Cimarron 2pc toilet did not work for me. See that review. I upgraded to the Santa Rosa. This is a nice toilet, much easier to install than a 2pc. Heavier to hold and guide over bolts when mounting. Other reviews mentioned about the flush mechanism catching or not closing. There is a design flaw that if you adjust the float for max water storage, it will push the level up and reopen the flush valve, continuous flushing or running toilet. Bend the flush arm or lower the float. See pics.

Delivered poorly packed & broken pieces by FedEx
This may have been a nice toilet but I will never know. Opted to have it delivered and it arrived in the Kohler box with absolutly no packing material. Should have been encased in bubble wrap or styrofoam. FedEx apparently dropped it several times as it arrived in numerous pieces inside the box. The only plus was the pleasant Home Depot Store Customer Service Rep who processed the return, even mentioning they've been getting alot of these returned broken.

Quiet, easy to install, not too heavy to lift. I was able to install this by myself in 30 minutes. Used the Fluidmaster no-wax seal, along with Kohler's "Clean Caps" for the lower profile bolts, which Home Depot should start selling. They look so much better, and can't be knocked off by accident.
I wouldn't have been able to carry the box with the toilet in it, but I was able to unbox it and carry the toilet upstairs, one step at a time. Looks classy, stays clean, no constant clogs, which I had with the 40-year old toilet that used a ton more water and was super loud. Also, my plumber recommended two brands: Kohler and Toto, because he gets the fewest calls for them. Believe the experts.

Read before you buy!!
The flushing mechanism of this toilet is consistently problematic. Despite being a low-flow, compliant model, it frequently gets stuck, resulting in water wastage.The handle design is flawed. Even as a brand-new product, it requires constant adjustment to maintain proper flushing performance. This recurrent inconvenience is not only time-consuming but also undermines the overall usability and reliability of the product.

Great toilet, but inspect it carefully before installing
Nice toilet - but inspect closely before installing. I put 2 of these in our upstairs bathrooms in 2019 and love them. The one piece design makes it easier to keep clean. It doesnt take up any more space than a 2 piece round toilet, but this one has the elongated bowl. In 2023, I put one in our powder room. The design of how it flushes around the bowl has been improved, such that I think the inside will stay even cleaner. But--the first one I got had a tiny one inch crack in the tank that both me and my plumber missed as well as a long hairline crack in the outside porcelain. He installed it one morning and I had water all over my floor by the next morning. I had to buy another one and pay for a 2nd install.

Kohler Santa Rosa black comfort toilet
I ordered the black Santa Rosa comfort by kohler in April of 2011. 3 months after it was installed, I noticed an ugly streaking on the inside of the bowl. I have tried everything to get rid of what looks like calcium streaking on the inside of the bowl. It looks nasty. I called kohler and they told me to try using a baking soda/vinegar paste mixture but they won’t exchange the toilet. I am very disappointed because the black toilet is very expensive.

If it is a calcium build up, the white vinegar is one of the best products to use as it will not hurt the material. We also recommend the Kohler Toilet cleaner K- 23724-NA. To clean light soil from hard surfaces, dilute one-part product with seven parts water. Spray and wipe clean. Prevents and controls mold and mildew on hard non-porous pre-cleaned inanimate surfaces. To control mold and mildew on hard non-porous surfaces, pre-clean surfaces, then spray the surfaces to be treated, making sure to wet completely. Let air dry. Repeat application at weekly intervals or when mildew growth appears. Design flaw
I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing. Same issue. The lid doesn’t fit. The unglazed area looks dirty and old. If there’s a solution with a lid that overhangs…why not just send that one with the toilet. This is clearly a design flaw they are aware of.

Bad seam and cracked seat
Had 3 of the Kohler Santa Rosa toilets installed in our home 3 months ago. One of them already has a cracked seat (I weigh 205 and my wife 140). All of them have the unfinished glaze where the top meets the tank. Try to pull it as far forward as possible, but still shows brown from the lack of glazing. Poor design and execution.

Lid glaze issue & white color issue
We just had this K-3811 Santa Rosa toilet (white) installed and ran into same issue as others. The lid does not fit properly and the unglazed area can be seen. Also, this toilet definitely isn't the white glaze as shown on your web sites, it looks more like the biscuit color. Wasn't the look we were looking for with a white vanity, white marble tiles and now an off-white glazed toilet.

Avoid this product.. unfinished glazing
I bought two of these toilets for new bathrooms. Contractor finally installed them and surprised at how ugly they look when there is an obvious unglazed raw beige seam all around the lid on both units that looks like you bought the wrong lid for the toilet. It is an obvious mistake in how the product is made and I can't believe they would ship this. If you can't glaze the top edges of the toilet tank at least make a lid that overlaps the edge geniuses. Toilet has worked for a week so far but looks like a cheap toilet and if I saw this in a store I wouldn't have purchased it. Too late now that I have to live with the ugliness and comments from guests as to why the toilet looks "dirty".

A nice compact toilet that works
Kohler, Santa Rosa,1.6 gallon flush, color: Biscuit. I ordered it online and picked it up at the store which all went smoothly. Installation was typical for a one piece toilet; heavy to set in place but still very easy. Purged the water line, hooked it up and it has been work fine ever since. It looks great and being one piece it is easier to clean!
