[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this built-in microwave and a single oven to replace aging units that came with our home. The microwave works fine for the expected basic functions, although it does seem to be much less powerful than our previous unit that was 200W more. We have two main disappointments. The description states “Precision Glass Touch Controls.” It, however, has the old-school plastic type controls that are operated through physical pressure. So, it does not match their oven we bought together with it. Furthermore, the display does not match that of the oven. With them stacked, it ruins the appearance. The other issue is you cannot turn off or lower the sound. Our 10 year old unit allowed for the sound to be turned off, which was helpful as I get up earlier due to the nature of my work and this unit makes relatively loud sounds. So, this microwave works, but it does not match the same brands ovens currently available that many people install together. It also seems to be an older design in need of some updating, making the price appear higher than it should

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We got the microwave about a month ago when we remolded our kitchen. It works really well and has a large capacity. Wen needed a microwave with a drop-down door like an oven because of where we located it. This one has that and matched our other KitchenAid appliances. It’s very easy to use and like the dial to set the time. Our only complain so far is the popcorn button doesn't do the best job of making popcorn (under pops it). We are still experimenting with just using time and power to get the perfect pop.

Put this in when I rebuilt our kitchen fifteen years ago. Still looks and works as new. Super high quality.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this to fill a spot in our new home. It fit perfectly and is now the star of the kitchen. It goes so well with my ovens and my Kitchen Aid Induction cook top. The built in in so much better than the over the range. We love the sensor it is perfect for reheating or for the mini bag of popcorn.

This microwave looks lovely installed. The build quality is solid. The sensor cooking is excellent. But this microwave has issues. First, the interior light is nearly non-existent. When you open the door, the light is sufficient, but when the microwave is working, the light dims to nearly NOTHING. A tea light would glow brighter than the miniature light that “shines” when this microwave is working. Second, this microwave uses a dial to set the time. While a dial, in and of itself, is not problematic, above the 3 minute setting, the time moves up in 30 second intervals, which limits your timing options. Third, and probably most frustrating, is that the pull-down, oven-door-style door doesn’t open all the way, making it challenging to pull dishes out of the microwave. Why, Kitchenaid, couldn’t you engineer the door so that it opens completely to a flat, 90 degree angle?

Haven’t really had a chance to use it, but so far I love it. I will try to remember to come back and update my review in a few months. Not crazy about how the trim pieces look. Had my builder take them off for a more sleek look- I uploaded a picture of the trim before I had them take it off for comparison

We are so happy with this built in microwave. We got the brushed nickel shade. The unexpected plus is that when the microwave is on, you don’t hear much noise! It makes a sound when the food is ready but otherwise you don’t hear any noise. It is also larger than we expected but we just love it!

I bought this when I did a kitchen reno 13 months ago. I debated spending this much on a built in rather than a counter top microwave but decided that the look of a matching microwave with the oven is what I wanted. After only 13 months, it doesn't heat anything anymore. Of course, the warranty with labor only lasted 12 months! I truly regret this purchase. I had a cheap $80.00 counter top Magic Chef microwave with 1100 watts that was in excellent working condition after 5 years before buying this albatross. Another con about this is the pull down door. I didn't realize that it makes putting food in and out of the oven difficult as you have to reach over the door to get it in the oven. The same applies for cleaning the oven. I'm sorry I went with something aesthetically pleasing but poor quality.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is about a month old. We use it every day. Does a great job, but there are a couple negative features. It is not the print free stainless, so every touch shows. Also our space to put it in was 27”, and so the choices were smaller. Opening like a book is much better, but my choice for matching the oven were small. I’m not as tall as it’s position and so hard for me to get things out. It could be a problem, but does a fine job. In a lower position it would be better for me. I recommend with reservations.

We bought this same microwave in 2006, as part of a major Kitchen Remodel. It was expensive at that time, but it fit the design perfectly. Here we are, 13 years later, and it's now starting to show some signs of failure. It's still usable, but the sensor cooking isn't really functioning correctly. We'll probably replace it with the exact same model again. I wonder if it's still made in Sweeden!

The old were high end Wolf, Sub-Zero, Bosch, etc. Having experience with Kitchenaid I can't think of a better combination of price, quality, esthetics and performance. My suite of Kitchenaid appliances are 1/2 the price of comparable replacements from the previously mentioned brands. Kitchenaid is the right solution when price and quality both matter for your built in suite of appliances.

Microwave looks great but display went out after just over a year and a few months. Makes it impossibly to accurately set time when cooking.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We had a couple of appliances go out and decided to change brands to KitchenAid. This microwave fit perfectly where our old one was (built in). I was worried about it fitting but it came with two different sizes of trim to cover any extra space. Most companies charge an astronomical amount for this piece. Thank you KitchenAid for caring about my sanity and providing it. Lol. This microwave has a button that you push to reheat a plate of food and it senses when it is done. I absolutely LOVE this button because IT WORKS. It is sized perfectly and isn’t loud at all. We recently purchased a dishwasher and will soon be getting the oven (mine isn’t even on the fritz but if the oven works as well as the microwave, I am sold). After that will be the fridge. Gorgeous appliance (never thought I’d say that about a microwave!!).

This product is excellent. I had it couple of months now. There are certain featutes and buttons on the microwave that I like. For example a baked potato button which cooks your potatoes perfect. Also a reheat meal button which makes your meal the right temp. I would highly recommend this product. Its worth the money and the delivery of the product went smoothly.

I purchased a KitchenAid 1.4 cu. built-in microwave to replace the exact one I have in my kitchen. I was reluctant to buy this because KitchenAid changed the handle design and this no longer would match all other KitchenAid appliances in my kitchen...UGH! I gave in and the nightmare began...On February 17, 2019 I made the purchase and it was delivered on February 20. When we unpacked the microwave we noticed a dent or dimple at the top edge of the microwave about 4-5 inches from the corner (left as you face the microwave). It is noticeable as it is on the top and dips. It is also on the right side as well but not as bad. We called Home Depot and they guided me through getting a replacement and suggested I unpack it while the delivery reps are here to be sure it is ok. On March 2, 2019 the second replacement came and had the same defect. I refused delivery and they returned it to their warehouse. Even the delivery reps were shocked at the defects, especially given the high cost of this microwave - $1,250+. I then call KitchenAid and spoke to a "supervisor" who basically blows me off and says that it seems to be the inventory Whirlpool is providing to Home Depot, almost saying Home Depot got a bad lot without saying it! I told him Home Depot does not manufacture the microwaves and asked if he could provide a "white glove" replacement and he said he was not able to as it would be coming from Home Depot's inventory and suggested I speak with Home Depot. Now we are on microwave number 3. We were not able to be home for delivery so we went to the warehouse on March 9, 2019 to pick it up. Again, we had it unpacked to find the same defects on microwave number 3. It appears that when the metal was processed whatever device they lay the stainless on causes indents or dimples. One side is more noticeable than the other. You can run your finger along the top edge and feel the different degree of indents. And yes, they are visible. KitchenAid is not a low end product, however, I'm finding this product standard and customer service to be substandard to its brand reputation. Today I will be going to Home Depot to process the return. Home Depot did everything in their power to assist me. Thank you Home Depot! Disappointed in KitchenAid product standard and customer service. ON A SIDE NOTE: HOW ENVIRONMENTALLY IRRESPONSIBLE IS IT TO NOT PROVIDE APPLIANCES TO LIVE ON...BY CHANGING DESIGNS AND NOT ALLOWING THEM TO BE INTERCHANGEABLE, YOU ARE FILLING OUR LANDFILLS!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Replaced a built-in microwave with this model. Easy to use but it doesn’t have a timer that you can use without cooking. Had that on the last KitchenAid over-the-cooktop model and really miss it. Love the door which pulls down but it doesn’t pull down all the way to be level and flat, which impedes placing items in the microwave or taking them out easily. And why does a built-in microwave have to cost SO much more than one mounted above a cooktop??

Quiet, easy to use and I like that the door opens like an oven.

Bought this a few months ago and installed in my newly remodeled kitchen. We love the look of the built-in microwave and it has functioned flawlessly.
