From day 1 i experienced problems with this unit being too low in volume. I’m in the telecom field, so I’m often toning out cables, there have been instances where ive found the battery compartment to be corroded after normal storage conditions. Each time i wiuld clean the battery area and contunue working. it’s a great looking tool and very durable. However, now, after the fifth time of having to clean the battery compartment, both the generator and probes lights come on however, there is no tone being detected by the probe . the probe now does not receive a signal from the generator. I’ve since gone back to my fluke equipment. After wiping the leads off for the battery compartment and probe the thing now does not work. It has not worked since the 5th corrosion episode. Thhe lights come on the probe as well as the generator. However, there is no signal coming through no tone at all. I used my fluke probe with the Klein generator and they work tigether fine. The ussue is the klein probe no longer detects tone. I’ve been going back to my fluke and had no issues with it but I wanted to at least leave a review and let Klein know of a known Flaw ( corrosion). My Klein equipment now is just simply a nice paperweight.. I’m not happy about spending 80 bucks on something that has a flaw that they are aware of. I actually like the equipment but don’t want to spend money on buying a replacement probe fir $40.

This tool has helped me find circuits that were dead by tracing them through walls, through ceilings, and under houses. It helped me find a piece of Romex that was cut in a wall. Just wish I had money to buy the better one, but this one works great.

There were some 240 V wires in the breaker box. I used this Klein tracer tool to locate where the wires were originating from. It worked. I located the wires near an existing outlet. I removed the outlet box from the wall to access the 240 V wires. I was very happy with the outcome.

This is a nice size holder for some small pocket tools to carry around. It seams to be made out of ballistic nylon. It has a nice divider inside the pocket pouch. The only thing that I think is cheap on the bag is the zipper that looks to be made of plastic and with a Klein name on the bag I would think it would have a metal or brass zipper on the item.

This is a very nice bag. I was surprised when I got it how nice it was. The zipper feels great, the fabric is thick and feels very durable. The divider is a nice thing to have in there as well. The bag also is padded to protect your tools even better. I'm using it for my scout pro 2 and all of its accessories. I know that's not exactly what it's for but it works well so I'm going to keep using it.

It is a pouch for Klein meters and accessories. While I do not have the specific items it was made for, a meter and test leads is what I use it for. It is divided internally, for meter+ leads. It is also made from synthetic plastic coated fabric, so it should be durable and reasonably water resistant. It is a Klein, and I have had good service from the fabric types. Time will tell.

Great quality pouch for many electronic devices. This padded pouch is made for the Klein PRO toner set, however I found perfect use for it as a safe storage for my Car OBD II. The padded sides of the pouch help to protect the screen from getting scratched or damaged while the divider in the middle is perfect to separate the storage of accessories or manuals.

This zipper pouch bag is great. Small enough to put into a larger bag or tool box. Large enough to hold sensitive or more fragile tools or accessories. The bag is soft inside with a divider built in to help keep things from either banging together or scratching one another. The zipper is well constructed and seems like it will last a long time. Another quality item from Klein Tools!

Very nice well made bag. It has a padded divider in it which is helpful to separate out different tools to prevent damage. The zipper works very well and it has lasted without damage in a tool box getting hit by other tools. The nylon is very durable and has held up very well to the typical job site ware and tare. I have a few of these to keep my more sensitive tools protected and in one place.

I really like these Klein tools zippered pouches. The one that I picked is for the Tone and Probe PRO Kit, however I am going to use it for hand tools. These are a quality zippered bag that are made of a canvas like material and this bag is cushioned, so it would be good for electrical test equipment. I am happy to have another Klein tools bag and will put it to good use.

Klein Tools quality nylon divided textured black zipper bag. Yes, I know its for Tone and Probe Kit, but I like the permanent divider for tools. I can quickly grab the bag, whether on the boat or at home and one side has flat head screwdrivers and the other has Phillip's. Many times the divider isn't permanent in bags and they end up damaged or just thrown out.

First off I will say I didn't get this pouch for its intended purpose. I got this pouch to have a storage bag for some of my Klein tools that I don't use very often but need to keep them protected nonetheless. I keep my USB multimeter and my circuit trace tool in it. It works well for a general tool pouch because it doesn't have any pre-sized pockets or anything. The only thing inside is a thin neoprene divider making to compartments that run the length of the pouch. The only small let down is that the "canvas" exterior was thinner and more pliable than expected. It doesn't really matter but was hoping for something slightly heavier.

A well built tool that is simple to use. It gives you a clear indication as to the condition of your cables. Have used it over several hundred feet of cable and had great results. Another good Klein product!

The tone generator came well packed with good instructions. It is very intuitive to use and works very well. I like the indicator lights which can be easily seen from far away. The sets of leads allows the unit to be used for most signal tracing applications. I have used it for cable TV coax and telephone cables and the unit worked flawlessly. A well built and very useful tool.

The Klein Tools Probe-Pro Tone Tracer traces non-active wiring when you use it with the Klein Tool Toner-Pro Tone Generator. You will have to purchase that separately. It has a a 3.5 mm plug to plug in a headphone jack when you are in a noisy environment (not included). Some of the features is that it has a LED work light for dark area spaces, volume control to hear the tones. It automatically turns off 10 minutes of non-use. In also has a low battery indicator. The tip can be easily replaced if you happen to break it off. It comes with 4 AAA batteries. A great product from Klein.

The Klein Tools tone generator will defiantly make your job easier trying to trace down wires. The toner has 5 distinct tone. It clips has a rigged angled bed of nails to help securely wires when testing. It also has an easy plug that plugs into the telephone or data jacks to tone wire pairs. You will need to purchase the Probe-Pro Tone Tracer to hear the tone that is being generated by the Tone Generator. Another nice feature is that it automatically turns off after 60 minutes of non-use and also has a low battery indicator. It comes with 4 AAA batteries.

Great tool. Nice size and perfect for my needs. Using to trace phone and network lines in my house and my son's house as well. Trying to get a feel for just how the phone was wired. Love the size and ease of use. It has been a great little tool. Klein makes great tools and I have many that's why I keep coming back to them for my needs. Always reliable.

Klein is a reputable company that produces high quality tools for the electrical and other trades. This item is no exception. It is intended to work to identify wire circuits, wire pairs and short circuits with 5 different tones on non active wires, but requires an additional item, that being the probe-pro tracing probe (VDV500-123), available from The Home Depot. This Toner-Pro has very strong alligator clips that have a heavy duty and flexible insulation and the test probes include one for telephone lines as shown in the photos below. The case is black and yellow sturdy plastic with rubberized edges to adi in secure grip while using. The instructions were a little unclear as you need both units, (the Tone - Pro generator and the Toner -Pro), to fully understand the instructions for both items.

The KLEIN TOOLS TONER-ORO TONE GENERATOR arrived quickly and well packaged to prevent loss or damage. It was all inclusive with very good instructions. I selected it because of the Klein name. I have several Klein tools, some dating back to the 70's. I like the alligator clips because they are narrow for access into tight spaces. The specific feature is the device itself. It has easy on/off and LED lights to determine polarity or continuity. I basically use it a lot for the continuity feature. The quality as always with Klein is excellent. It's easy to use and working out as planned. I like it immensely.

I only needed 32 and I was able to trace the cables I needed and only had to run one new one to reach from the modem to the router and switches. When you touch the probe to the wire you are tracing that has the tone generator on the other end, it is obvious when you have touched the same wire.

This Klien tools toner-pro tone generator is really a great tester to have. I have a probe from Klien tools which I use to receive the tone the generator sends thru the wires I want to test . It saves me time and eliminates errors when I need to distinguish twisted pair wires from one another. The generator also helps when I'm checking wiring for polarity. It also can test data wires with RJ11 or RJ45 connectors. The tone can be changed and it can test polarity continuity and shorts. The clips have angled bed of nails for secure connection and the generator has led's which make results easy to read. A must have if you work with data cables.

Many times I have had problems with testing wiring and had to use more difficult ways to verify connections or continuity. This tracing probe makes life much easier. When used with Klien tools tone generator, I can easily test non energized twisted pairs, non paired wires and test circuit continuity. This probe comes with a non metallic replaceable tip, terminals to test paired wires and a light for working in poorly lit areas. Also has a headphone jack and volume control for working in noisy areas.

If you are tracing one wire pair in a bundle, then as long as the pairs are separated by 1-2", the difference between the one you are tracing and all the others is very easy to detect, both with the tone and the LED. The tone generator has a safety mode where it will detect a shorted line automatically, and 3 different frequencies of tone are available to suit the user's preferences.

The tone generator works by sending a signal across the wire to be detected on the other side. However this product does not have the additional tool included. I had one so the tests were easy to do, and I found this to be a good product. We moved to a home where the previous owner was a self-proclaimed DIYer of the highest caliber. He wasn't, as the telephone lines he installed did not follow any pattern. The colored wires were crisscrossed. I used this toner at one tone setting and another at a different setting to trace down the botched connections. This unit worked fine. Suggestion that maybe a pouch should be included with the product.

Klein Tools and The Home Depot have a very nice Toner for your tool box. This is a Professional grade tool at a home owner price ! The batteries are included as a plus ! The clips are strong and colored for negative and positive usages ! Also an adapter plug to trace phone and computer lines. It will trace up to 10 miles so no wires in your house are to long ! The LED display is nice and bright. Tone is good for all hearing levels ! Just remember, for your own safety, this Toner is for INACTIVE wires that are NOT powered !

If you are making and crimping your own Ethernet cables, or installing keystone jacks or patch panels, this tool is a handy time saver to verify the RJ45 termination. It's incredibly simple: Just plug one end of the cable in the main tester port and the other end of the cable in the "Remote" port, and press the single Test button. There's only one button on the tester: TEST, so it couldn't be easier. It automatically turns on, and automatically turns off. If the cable is fine, a green light will appear in the PASS area at the top of the tester. If there's an issue with the wire, one of the three red lights will turn on in the FAULT section. The tool feels solid and made of high quality plastic. The Remote unit is very small, and handily clips into the bottom of the main Tester. The Tester has a 9V battery installed already, so you can start testing immediately. I don't work with RJ11/12 and fortunately have never needed to terminate phone lines, so I didn't test those ports, but it does support RJ11 connectors as well if you need to test those. The tester includes a fairly comprehensive instruction sheet, including several wiring diagrams. It's a very reasonably priced tester, and if you are making lots of cables or terminating long wiring runs, it's a good investment.
