Received one unit with clearly damaged/opened packaging. The unit inside has been obviously and heavily used. Because this is only returnable in-store, and only purchasable online, I am now obligated to make a trip to the nearest store to refund a product that should never have been shipped to me in the first place. Then I must re-order online with the hopes of receiving a new product. Very disappointing intersection of policy and quality control.

I replace a manual timer on a table lamp in the living room. In addition to providing the basic timer functionality that I already had with the manual timer this offers dimming, a remote and the ability to program it via a Z-Wave controller. In my case I used Lutron's Caseta Bridge. I have had to adjust the timer seasonally throughout the years to account for the changing timing of dusk. I no longer have to do that because the new controller lets me turn the light on "10 minutes before dusk" and off at midnight. How cool is that? Pairing the remote and the dimmer was easy and adding it to the controller was also easy. The dimmer is usable without the controller if you just want a manual switch (and remote) and dimmer. The format of the dimmer is great. It has support for two devices (which I wasn't expecting) but isn't so large as to block the second outlet from being used. It has two-prong outlets, which is common for table lamps. You won't be able to plug a grounded device into this without an adapter. The center button on the remote switches the lamp to 50%, which is cool. You can change that, but I haven't tried. I have a lutron wall mount switched outlet, but I love the versatility of this plug-in version as I can move it around as needs change. I want more devices, as I'm really enjoying what I can do with the phone/iPad app and the controller.

I have been working myself through smart device after smart device and the Lutron lighting accessories have been working flawlessly with the Lutron app. No other smart device I have tried comes close. The Lutron are the most expensive of the lot, but this is one of those cases where you get what you pay for.

An overall excellent product and great customer service.

Plug into socket, plug lamps into dimmer, press “off” and follow the app on your phone. Really easy.

added the Caseta switches to an addition to my house. I was so happy with these I have replaced most of the switches in my house now. very easy to install.

The Caseta dimmer was easily paired with the Caseta bridge, using the complementary Caseta app. From there, it was easy to connect to the dimmer with the SmartThings hub, using the SmartThings app. All of this required 15 minutes. Both apps are intuitive. The Caseta bridge is hardwired to the router.

I have long used and been very satisfied by the Lutron/Caseta line of products. An electrician friend of mine has installed a number of their switches for me and recently recommended to me to try this device to help control lamps I had plugged into sockets that weren't switched. Work absolutely perfectly. It's also terrific to have the added convenience of being able to dim lamps don't have that feature built into them. Equally great is being able to control the lamps plugged into the Smart Lighting Dimmer through my Harmony home remote app and system. I will be adding more to a couple of other spots in my home served by lamps in un-switched sockets.

Dims lights as well as switches them on and off, integrates well with other Caseta devices and Alexa voice control. Very effective. However as with the Caseta line you must pay for quality.
